The Amazing Spider-Man Lizard's New Look: Verdict?--POLL

What did you think of his appearance?

  • PERFECT! It's the character come to life!

  • THAT'S the Lizard?! Mini-godzilla without the coat?

  • Can't tell yet. He wasn't in the trailer enough.

  • Where's Venom?!

  • It seems ok.

lol

i think he looks cool. also like his size, makes him pretty imposing

Ya i hate it... He doesn't have the iconic 80s/90s look that most of us grew up with. It almost seems like they pulled another venom on us. Just does NOT look like their iconic selves. :(

It would only be called "pulled another Venom" if Lizard looked terrible and was shown for only five minutes. Lizard is very Ditko; I'm sorry if it's not the 80s/90s look you were wanting apparently, but c'mon...that whole opinion of yours makes no sense.

I'm not one to complain on the look. Never did for him...but the 90's version really is the version I grew up with. Not only in the comics, but the animated shows, too. So, it's natural to miss it.

I'm still holding out that we'll see him in his true Lizard form by the last fight of the movie.

I hate these photos they release of the Lizard.

But when I see him in the last trailer I really dig the way he looks and moves.

I'm liking it so far, and I think like this he does look more like he's a mutated human rather than just a big lizard. And if it adds more emotions to the scenes that can only be a good thing.

I agree. The same could be said about the new suit. In some stills it just doesn't look that great. But in the trailer it looks absolutely fantastic.

Damn, would people be satisfied if this is how Lizard's design was?

This is interesting.

Obviously it's not the Lizard's design. I'm just looking at it from the snout perspective.

He looks too much like a generic raptor. The Lizard, that is. Wish he had the over the top lab coat, that would be great.

I haven't posted here in years. That's how bad it looks... I just showed my brother and friends the pics on the front headlines and they say the same thing. "They tried to humanize him when he is suppose to be the Lizard." He just doesn't look good at all... As long as the movie turns out good, then great but the villain design is blah... unless they do decide to further his transformation near the end, then I think it could really represent the villain.

Lol My brother said I can see kids walking out of the movie saying "Mommy, Daddy! I like the man with scales."

Why wouldn't they humanize the Lizard? Inside the monster is an intelligent man that could very well be an ally of Peter and that humanoid head is perfect in showing that. I'm perfectly fine with that look because, as I said, it reminds me of Ditko's design, but it also has a great mixture of lizard and actual human. Giving him a snout would de-humanize the villain fully and that's not what should happen; there is still a sincere man there and that face shows it and that is the only way to show it.

Yah...seeing as how that would never happen. From your point with this, you're saying it would only be scary if Lizard had a snout? The way Lizard looks, he looks kid-friendly now? :whatever:

I agree, I don't like these artwork images they keep releasing of the Lizard. Part of the problem is they aren't photos, but artwork. He's always looking straight into camera, it looks unnatural. But the glimpses in the trailer he looks great.

Either release true action images of the Lizard we'll see in the film without being so posed looking into camera (though I don't want to be spoiled), or hold off. But don't make the only images we see of him these unnatural looking paintings.

Lizard is a horrible villain choice for a movie with a limited budget anyway. That he looks this ridiculous just adds salt to the wound. TASM is dead on arrival for me, even if it does make some decent coin.

Hey look at this...someone dim-witted enough to still think the budget is only $80 million.

I guess I'm the one of the few who like it?

I've gotten use to villains not looking 100% like their comic counterpart, I like change, unless it's totally radical. We haven't even seen him in motion yet, a second in a trailer doesn't count. I like the design though.

I like his look, more or less what I was expecting really. I too don't like the images we've seen of him either because they're always just artwork and not a still from the actual movie. Personally I would like to see a labcoat present, I've heard he will have one at some point during the movie.

Marc Webb did say the other day that he's still going through CGI process and hinted that perhaps he will undergo more than one transformation. I think that would make sense actually, the more animalistic he becomes the more beastly he looks.

I'm guessing that the observation has already been made, but this is what popped into my head when I saw the picture:

Yes, that comparison has been made. Every time.

Honestly, I don't see it. They don't look similar to me at all.

The only thing they have in common is that they're both scaly and bald.

Even if he doesn't go thru any more transformations, I am ok with his look. It's a great combo between a human and a Lizard. There's enough of both for him to be menacing, yet still have the ability to remain visibly human that we are still able to connect to him. I think that is very important.

I disagree. Sure, the features are different but the general design is essentially the same, IMO. At least it is what popped into my head when I saw it.
