Not that money is a determining factor, but based on the film's financial and critical success, I wonder if Mangold really does go forward with the interest in a film with X-23. Or if Fox would try to utilize Dafne Keen in the series again, provided there's a great director handling the character.

Yeah Logan is going to outgross Apocalypse.

I wonder how Kinberg feels about that.

Kinberg is one of the producers so I'm sure he is very happy. New Mutants could make more money than Apocalypes and Fox won't care much. A franchise win is a win no matter where is comes from. Fox will take any win.

To think the studio cut a good chunk of Hughs paycheck, and the budget, to make Hugh and Mangolds vision of this film come true. Mangold and Jackman in return gave Fox a boatload of money. After all that Hugh has done for them. I know it's business and all but still.

I think Jackmans Wolverine was a huge part of the X series making more money then without him in the picture.
Apocalypse, First Class (a couple second cameo doesn't count) didn't make much compared to say where Hughs Wolvie was leading the franchise in DOFP.
Heck even the solo awful Wolvie film made almost as much as those 2 films with that ensemble. A good Wolvie film finally and the results show for themselves.

Don't worry about Hugh. He is going to make that money up in the back end. And then some.

Hugh and Stewart are just bigger draws for X-Men films unlike the first Class cast. Unfortunately I don't see New Mutants and Supernova opening higher than Logan's numbers.

logan was still a gamble.r rated film from character in PG-13 film series.

quality and having both hugh and patrick matter.remember hugh himself got the wolverine to 414 million WW.282 million from overseas which was highest in series till DOFP.hell origins was leaked onto internet and hugh still got origins to 179 Million domesticly-208 million when adjusted to 2017 dollors-and 193 million overseas.

we are defently going to see laura/X-23 again.question is when and where not if.

without hugh flagship X films suffer.at least domesticly.First Class had great reviews but grossed only 146 million-157 million in 2017 dollars- and 207 million overseas with more neagtive reviewed apocalypse made 154 million-155 million in 2017 dollors-domesticly with 388 Million overseas.

Fox will laugh all the way to the bank with logan just like deadpool.now without OT cast they would be smart to have a hook to excite more than die hard fanbase domesticly.Like taking X-Men into outer space.

Its not a gamble when it took less than 100 million to make. Plus it's not like this is a start of a trilogy.

Anyway an R rated film with First Class cast... That would be a gamble.

Meanwhile Logan is doing great though. ;)

It sure is:ilv:

now we all await news for future of franchise.title offically of new fox show and news on 3 x related film expected to start filming this summer-new mutants, deadpol sequel, next X-Men film including official titles and release dates:cwink:

X-Men doesn't need to be R-rated, what purpose would there be to make it R-rated?

I think with the success of Deadpool and Logan, people think that's where the money lies.

There's still lots of money to be made at the PG and PG-13 levels, too. But yeah, it's good to see Logan confirm that Deadpool wasn't a fluke and there is a strong market for R's as well.

People wouldn't think that if Apocalypse didn't underperform. If New Mutants and Supernova underperformed, mmore people would see it that way.

Anyway we had the pg13 Dofp with the original cast nearly 3 years ago and that was successful.

R or Pg13, any thing could be successful with the right ingredients like an appealing lead and cast members.

When you are making more in R-Rated movies that cost less than you are with the ensemble ones even when they are critically praised like DOFP, I'd worry about them trying more low budget grittier movies for the team movies.

Its not just then being R rated that made them cheaper. Logan has fewer CGI to produce than most X-Men films while Tim Miller had his own Vfx company working for Deadpool.

I think more than anything Deadpool and Logan have proved that an R rating isn't the limit some used to believe it was. There's a market for these kinds of stories, and within the larger X-franchise there's potential for that to continue.

I'll say it right now, give us a Magneto spinoff set in Eastern Europe during the last years of the Soviet Union and take the same character-based approach that Logan used.

God, Magneto again? PFF. Give it to someone else.

Well I'd be up for a Psylocke movie than that Supernova movie anyday. So I wouldn't worry about that.

For a movie done like Logan? Yes, give Magneto another film role. He's one of the few major characters that could support this kind of low key dramatic approach and have it be relevant to the times.

I think a House of M / Genosha spin-off with Magneto could work as a way of taking Magneto and also Quicksilver out of the main series, adding Toad, and introducing Wanda (I would have said Polaris but she's gonna be in the TV show).

It could serve the purpose of streamlining the cast for the main series - although Magneto doesn't need any more development, to be honest.

Does it matter if the films ignore the TV shows? As long as they give Polaris a decent role then great.

I think focusing on Quicksilver would probably be the best way to go in a Box Office sense. It seems like the general audience responds well to the Fox version of him.

Well, it helps that Tim Miller and James Mangold knew what they were doing with their movies. In other hands, things could've gone differently, but these two knew the property, their audience, and the character, which is key.

A few pages back on this thread you were saying that Apocalypse hurted the series. So maybe you meant be wrong about those two as well.

Don't bother. He will continually move the goal posts.

Hugh and Patrick are massive draws, but Hugh and Famke aren't?
