Definitely interesting. No huge explosions of fire. No obvious CGI waiting for finalization. Very toned down western feel. But unfortunately no awesome money shot of cinematography either.

Actually, there are several shots in the trailer I really love.

I'm really liking what I'm seeing. Nice self contained story but damn what happened to the mutants?

Watched the trailer and it was great. Dat Johnny Cash tho.

It's probably just Pierce/Essex Corp gradually dwindling down the mutant population through experimentation etc. Don't think they suffered from massive mutant extinction level event or anything, as that'd just be redundant after DOFP. More Children of Men than say the 2023 of DOFP probably.

Also the shot of Logan, Laura and Charles laughing together is a money shot.

Joking aside, the HQ one we'll get soon will probably have some good bits of action that can be money shots.

I think Jim in retrospect was severely restricted by The Wolverine's rating as well as the general state of the X-Men franchise at the time. But with DOFP bringing the X-Men completely into the modern age of comic book films and Deadpool/Apocalypse taking advantage of that by going full blown comic book (though the results varied), I think Jim can finally let loose and dig deep into what he does best as a director and craft these really humane dramas.

Obviously it'll come down to how good his script was, and the results have yet to be seen, but I feel like he and Hugh created something special.

Regarding The Wolverine, I think it mostly comes down to the producers and studio forcing him to put other mutants in it, and make it more comic book-y and superheroic, in order to attract the X-Men and superhero crowd. And that didn't help the movie at all. Not even at the box office, considering that it's the lowest grossing movie in the franchise domestically.

Well, Logan drinking by the tree at the cemetary, Caliban, the SUV spinning, Pierce in front of the helicopters and the 'claw fight' really stood out to me. Some really beautiful landscape shots, as well.

And, except for a possible Red Band trailer (there is a trailer which was rated 15 by the BBFC, after all, and I doubt it's this one), the upcoming HQ version is going to be the same as this. So no more action shots.

I couldn't make out the claw fight, but I presume the Reavers have the claws that the soldiers from the Adamantium Men did? Since they're blending the two of them together. That was a money shot for sure, as well as the building jumping. Mangold doesn't like how modern action is filmed so I'm really interested in seeing how he choreographs those action scenes.

Oh and poor Charles in the back of that SUV.

The tone does seem very different.

Bit of a depressing direction though with how the world is and how Logan is.

Xavier asks,
"Logan, what did you do?" I think he killed the X-Men.

And
Reavers did what the Marauders did during The Mutant Massacre. Eradicating them.

Depressing trailer
but a nice X23 action shot.

Wait, what? I slept through the release of a leaked teaser? Well...I suppose an official one will drop soon, right?

The Movie looks darks.

Somehow i don't think Xavier is coming out of this movie alive :(

Also Logan is standing next to some graves... would they actually kill off the X-Men offscreen? or is it showing his day job since he rides a funeral car.

Wow, this looks so different from the other X-Men movies and looks incredible at the same time.

Really hope Hugh can go out with a bang.

It looks amazing! Dark, serious and not like your typical superhero movie.

Also, Hurt by Johnny Cash compliments the trailer so well!

Yeah I think Xavier won't make it.

Man seeing this trailer make me sad that we won't have any X team movie in next 2 - 3 years.

Interesting to note that mutants are becoming extinct even after the "fixed" events of DoFP.. It does seem like the rest of the X-Men are gone otherwise they'd take care of Xavier :csad:

There are definitely risks being taken with this franchise, although i think the fear is that they ain't thinking ahead with these risks and they are more just of the moment decisions.
