Logan Logan - news & discussion - Part 1

It has to be remembered that just because there is dialogue over footage in the trailer doesn't mean that dialogue will actually be over that footage in the film

The logan what did you do stuff could be in any context but the idea that xavier would be supportive of logan after killing the X-Men or that their relationship would be soured by this idea he killed the X-Men probably ain't likely

So, in the first shot of the trailer, we see Logan's blood-covered, shaking hand while Xavier says 'Logan, what did you do?'

I initially thought his hand was shaking because he's old/injured, but looking at it again, I realized he could also be mortified by whatever it is he just did.
Whatever it is that left that blood on his hands.

Could it be that Logan, like in the Old Man Logan comic books,
killed the X-Men?
I know some people think it would be too dark for this movie, but this shot did make me wonder again.

If that one guy from the released pics is in fact Arcade I was thinking
maybe he'll appear in a flashback where Logan is tricked into killing the X-Men in a Murder World type experience

Very sobering thought just hit me after viewing this trailer again, I'm now almost the exact same age Jackman was when he first played Wolverine. :(

Tbh he is wearing the same clothes in that picture as he is in the shot with X23 holding his hand, so thats probably not a shot to think anything into.

The logan what did you do could be in any context.

If this movie will reveal that Wolverine actually killed all the X-Men, this would be one of the most hardcore things to happen in any mainstream blockbuster movie in a very very long time.

This would be totally heartbreaking and unwatchable. At least I would cry in my 3D glasses for 3 hours (especially after the beautiful happy end of 'Days of Future Past').

Do we really need to hurt the character Logan even more?

He would have killed Rogue in X1 if not for her powers (and his). So it's in the realm of possibility.

It could also be a mercy killing if they got sick due to some kind of virus.

Mercy killing? In what bad shape must they have been to have Logan kill them?

I really do not think xavier would be fine with Logan if he killed the X-Men and I can't see it ending with xavier and Logan on bad terms over him killing the X-Men either.

While the X-Men could be no more I don't see it going down that he killed them for his final movie.

mutant zombies.
All the Reavers had to have their infected limbs amputated to stop the spread.

I might just have to jump on the "Charles is actually dead and in Logan's head" theory

That would make for quite a tweest!

I'm gonna be quiet until more info comes out. On my second watch I find the trailer to actually be very intriguing but the idea of the x-men being killed off or depowred for logans character development bothers me. I really need and want to know more.

Why not just focus on / enjoy the actual story the filmmakers want to tell with Logan, instead of worrying what all that means for the other X-Men.

The movie is set in the future anyway, and the set-up is that Logan and the Professor are the survivors amongst the X-Men, and that there are few mutants left.

And you either get past that or not, because I doubt that it will really delve into what happened to Cyclops, Jean and Co. They're dead, and so are most of the mutants. And we'll probably find out why. But I don't expect the movie to take a few steps back and have them popping up alive and well to please the fans, or anything similar.

That's not what the movie's about, and this ain't Marvel Studios. So it's not really about the bigger picture, it really is about the story James Mangold and Hugh Jackman want to tell as Wolverine's final adventure. It really is this character's Unforgiven and very much in line with the grittier solo stories in the comics.

You haven't stated anything that I havent already figured out. As I stated, my feelings will probably be mixed as they are with most x-men films. It looks very well made but I'm not a fan of what it does to the other x-men. That's all.

Yeah, I was a ten year old boy when X-Men came out. I'll be a nearly thirty year old man when Logan comes out.

Now I'm depressed.

Watched the trailer a dozen more times. We were burned by "great trailer, so-so movie" stuff before, I seriously hope it's not the case this time.

Alright, but I don't think that's a fair way of judging a movie. It should really be about what you think and feel regarding what you've seen between the 20th Century Fox fanfare at the sart and the end credits.

It's nothing against you specifically (and more about the collective atmosphere on boards like these nowadays), but I find it sad that people can't focus on the specific movie when speculating and reviewing, and it's always about how it affects the bigger picture, and what it does to past movies and movies we don't know nothing about that will be released until 2025.

Ever since Marvel Studios made the (bold) choice to create a cinematic universe, it's often not about the movies anymore, but rather about what the frikkin' universe is up to and what will happen to said universe in the future.

And it sucks the fun out of the (movie) discussion for me.

Yeah that would be... something alright. I really don't expect them to do that. But if they do... yeah that'd be hardcore.

In the comics Wolverine planned to kill the xmen when they were hosts to Brood eggs.

If the X-Men are dead will they resurrect them later so they can kill Jean a millionth time?
