Probably coz it was from a reshoot months after X2 had already wrapped. IIRC this was shot in the UK when Hugh was filming Van Helsing.

It was mentioned during the commentary for X2 DVD in the final scene where Logan and Cyclops talk to Xavier right before he starts his class with Jubilee, etc where he looks outside his window and has an inkling of Jean's rebirth.

It was shot in Shepperton Studios in London as Hugh was doing Van Helsing in Prague and they could only get him for one day, so they all flew to London.

It sounds like it was rewritten (read: ad libbed) and shot as there was a need to give a sense of hope after Jean's sacrifice. They all signed the last page of the script afterwards.

Anyways back to my point. Hugh looks so different there as he had hair extensions from his Van Helsing character and they had to shove all his hair into his Wolverine wig.

Hugh's hair in X3/Origins was really bad though. I do love what Mangold did to Logan's hair though, which Singer kept for DOFP's future portions. It's a much cleaner look, as good as Singer does Wolvie's comic book hair.
