Read the Empire article, there wwre some interesting new details about the story which make me look forward to the movie even more, I will put them in spoilers just in case.

[BLACKOUT]Logan works as a limo driver so he can support an elderly Xavier. Does this possibly mean he did kill all of the X-Men and he is looking after Xavier through guilt?[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]Since Xavier is elderly i imagine its more Logan is looking after him because i guess no one else can.[/BLACKOUT]

well
I am thinking the 2024 timeframe is probally wrong. If logan did kill X-Men then this makes X-Men films now kind of pointless since we know they all die.I am starting to think now Cable will go to future to bring X-23 to present now in deadpool III if X-23 is indeed In Deadpool III as part of X-force

Why would cable go to the present and then travel to the future to pick up a girl and go back to the present again?

Honestly i think there will be much more to it then that and wouldn't surprise me if X-FORCE is set in a future period where there are no X-Men.

And i very much doubt Logan will have killed the X-Men for jackmans final film, what a conclusion that would be to wolverines story since X1

I understand your points.others not me advocated they have cable go to 1980's to bring psylocke to present/near future.I previously thought Deadpool III:X-force would be set after logan and that is how X-23 came into X-force but with the details of X-23 being first mutant in 20 years that Is kind of hard.Just as i am sure sinister will make appearance In logan cause i doudt singer would mention that as well as X-23 filling in void of wolverine for no reason.I already thought while some may not want to hear it the plan seems to be X-Men & New mutants in the past and Deadpool & X-force in present/near future with if gambit is made it also be in present/near future.I have no idea how long after DOFP future ending when logan takes place

[BLACKOUT]No sane producer/exec would allow their hero to murder all those X-men. Come on guys, that happened in a What if/Alternate universe in the comics.[/BLACKOUT]

Also, no mutants have been born for 20 years and Laura is the first to happen for a while, Mangold still wouldnt confirm her as X23. But obviously Laura offers hope that not all mutants are gone and thats why Xavier wants Logan to protect her.[/BLACKOUT]
Interesting, so they're kinda working in some sort of Hope Summers-angle with Laura. I wonder if the twist in the film will be that she isn't a natural born mutant but a clone

Is there any other interesting things from the article?

Possibly, and they were the only details of note we didn't previously know.

[BLACKOUT]Well, if no mutants have been born for 20 years, then it can't be set in 2024. The happy ending of DoFP was in 2023 and showed kids at the school who were young and thus born less than 20 years ago.

The setting/timeline of Logan is bugging me. A lot.

Also, why do mutants face such apocalyptic struggles all the time. They are supposed to be the next stage of human evolution. The movies make them seem like genetic mistakes who are meant to be wiped out. They line up for cures, get exterminated by Sentinels and now face a population/birth crisis. They're more like the doomed Neanderthals than the advanced Cro-Magnon.[/BLACKOUT]

on one hand mangold seems to only be able to do wolverine if X-Men are wiped out.Mutants always have trouble in comics.while i am probally biggest apocalypse fan on this board a big problem was the film downplayed problems mutants should be having and had them way too acepted.things on plot of logan are puzzling but on one hand it is X-Men tradation of things going bad for them

Hope Summers sucks and is hated by the fan base. But I bet people will still complain.

Just like in the comics.

This page is like a redacted government report.

[BLACKOUT]What is this, Children of X-Men? :hehe: Also, how does a clonation just "happen"?[/BLACKOUT] I feel like I'm missing some key information here.

Didn't think about that with regards to the timeline, so yeah 2024 can't be the setting, last time Mangold was asked when it was set he just said way into the future. I think 2024 being reported as the setting wasn't right thinking back now.

El Mayimbe (who also works for The Wrap) was the one to report the year it takes place. He's been wrong quite a few times and doesn't fess up to it when he is wrong.

Problem is he also said other stuff that turned out to be spot on like Steven merchant playing caliban, xavier being unwell, Mutant births declining, we pretty much got that information from that article before it was verified by other sources.

So while he could be wrong about the date there is also a big chance he isn't.

If we go by the idea that this is 15 or 20 years after the future ending of DOFP how old would that make Xavier? lets be kind and say he was in his 80s in DOFP then he would be 100 or so lol

Either way there is gonna be some logic ignored by mangold in order to make this work.

While i don't think a date will be giving in the movie anyway i also don't think we can go by anything that seems like a plot hole as a sign that the information is false because it may just be that, a plot hole, just like we are getting caliban mark 2.

I can buy Charles being late 90s. beyond the fact that the X-Men universe has always been slightly ahead in terms of technological advancement, wouldn't surprise me that an incredibly wealthy man like Xavier had access to the best medical treatment.

Didn't that empire article say Wolverine got a job as a limo driver to be able to take care of Xavier?

Xavier could be over 100 which he why he looks a frail as he does but i'd be surprised if marigold calculated any particular age for him.

I don't think he especially needed to, since the character isn't likely to appear any further in this timeline.

Well, if it's 10-15 years later, which seems about right, then it's fine for Xavier to be late 90s or over 100. People in the real world live to more than 100.

If no mutants have been born for 20 years and the youngest kids at the end of DoFP were 10, then another 10 years have passed.

Of course Mangold hasn't even thought about this, these filmmakers just do what they want to create a dramatic story.

It might turn out to be a decent film (no way of knowing that yet) but i'll be glad when it's over. It won't really do anything for the franchise, it's just concluding things.

Why are they so obsessed with finality and conclusions and death? XM:A was more of a conclusion to previous films than a launchpad to an exciting future. The Last Stand was titled and intended as a wrap-up movie and had a lot of death.

Someone at the studio is very obsessed with death, and with killing off mutants and wrapping things up, it's a very twisted, unhealthy, cynical (and wrong) way to look at a franchise.

Tom Rothman is responsible for all the deaths in The Last Stand. XMA was just expanding on Xavier's arc from DOFP.

One of the core concepts of the X-Men as an idea, both within the films and comics has always been the mutant race struggling to survive persecution and tragedy. It's one of the reasons why Magneto, a holocaust survivor, is one of the main figures in the story. But the films have never been about dwelling on death and cynicism. On the contrary these are films primarily about hope, fighting on despite the hardships. They all but spell that out for the audience in Days of Future Past. The mutant race survived the cure, it survived the Sentinels and survived Apocalypse. I've no doubt in my mind that it'll survive whatever it is that has brought them down during the time of Logan.
