Another option is that you can return to your old job on a 12-18 month contract. Maybe with a slightly different title to make it look better on your resume. It gives you the flexibility to bail if things at your job are still garbage.

Thanks for the advice.

I spoke to my manager asking to stay, but at that point I only had 2 weeks left until my notice ends.

They said they will try to ask if I can stay, but chances were small since HR stuff was already quite far into motion. They didn't really sound positive.

Which is a shame, because I am good at the job, getting along well with my team and been there for almost a year and a half. There really shouldn't be a reason for them not allowing me to stay. The decision to quit was mine, not theirs and now the request to stay is also mine.

Waiting for a response - fingers crossed.
