I know he won't get the role because he isn't "young" but imagine if Leonardo Dicaprio played the Joker in the origin film?

He really is, he's a petulant child and his constant roars saying things like "BOF is the best Batman news site online" and "BOF Podcast is the best Batman podcast on the net" really shows that he's insecure too.

And yet he's reporting on Batman stuff. Yucks.

^^ Dang, that's awesome.

BTDubz, I didn't see much of the last thread so what is the consensus on Defenders??

These are my scattered thoughts:

The first 2 episodes were boring but the first meeting between Luke and Danny was cool. Episodes 3 and 4 were amazing. The show peaked here with great chemistry among the cast members.

But the show went off the rails after the 4th episode. It was back to being boring. It was a chore to get through the 6th episode. I haven't seen DD season 1 & 2 but even in the less than stellar episodes of JJ and LC, s**t that was happening on screen was at least interesting or I wanted to see where things were going. That episode is just a screeching halt. Nothing was moving. There was no drive or urgency in any situation.

The death of [BLACKOUT]Alexandra[/BLACKOUT] was very underwhelming. I mean I didn't care about her (the show runners gave me nothing to chew on and make me care) and she wasn't even some strong physical adversary for the Defenders so that her death will shock me. So yeah, it was super underwhelming. [BLACKOUT]Sigourney Weaver[/BLACKOUT] was definitely wasted.

The show just went downhill since the 5th episode. That episode was a downgrade from the previous two as well but I was still pleased with it. Nao, the show has turned mediocre. They spent a good amount of time to show Trish and Karen to have a dialogue in the middle of the finale. How is that in any way engaging when there are much more actually important stuff to care.

The villains in the show were downright awful. This is a first for Marvel's Netflix shows. The Hand were uninteresting and an incompetent organization on all levels.

The show was 0kay on the whole and a fair bit underwhelming. I didn't love it like the other Marvel Netflix shows I have seen so far. It was enjoyable in parts. The best thing about the show was Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock. He is awesome. He ran circles around the rest of the cast. He's got this magnetic charm about him. Even when other folks are talking my eyes are invariably always looking for him. He is just too good.

I haven't gotten around to watching the whole season, but have watched a few snippets here and there on YouTube. I agree with you that Charlie Cox is still the most interesting member for me. What is up with Jessica Jone's constant quipping. It's very eye-rolling. And also, isn't she supposed to have super-strength or something? She looks really nerfed to me.

WW is OVERRATED, and the praise is mostly for political reasons.
I think WW is a very good film and gets justified praise but also gets a little more praise than it otherwise would (which in turn makes it slightly overrated despite being very good) due to those reasons.

I found JJ to be the most annoying member of the group. She was rather off putting with her rude and indifferent shtick. It could be just me tho because from what I have read online, almost everyone loved her. Different strokes and all that.

I can't even get through the first episode of Luke Cage so I have no way of getting to the Defenders at this rate.

Daredevils been the only good thing so far. Jessica Jones was one of the most boring TV shows I've ever sat through. I just want to get to the Punisher.

Calls Wonder Woman a step backwards

“All of the self-congratulatory back-patting Hollywood’s been doing over ‘Wonder Woman’ has been so misguided,” Cameron told The Guardian. “She’s an objectified icon, and it’s just male Hollywood doing the same old thing! I’m not saying I didn’t like the movie, but to me, it’s a step backwards.”

Then proceeds to talk about how he does female characters better,

“Sarah Connor was not a beauty icon,” he said. “She was strong, she was troubled, she was a terrible mother and she earned the respect of the audience through pure grit. And to me, [the benefit of characters like Sarah] is so obvious. I mean, half the audience is female!”

“There are many women in power in Hollywood, and they do get to guide and shape what films get made,” he said. “I think — no, I can’t account for it. Because how many times do I have to demonstrate the same thing over again? I feel like I’m shouting in a wind tunnel!”

See this right there? We live in a world so misogynistic even a pig about who everyone knows that he is indeed a pig opens his trap to spew stuff like that. Shameless.

If you're struggling to get through even the first episode maybe you should give it a miss (and Iron Fist), and skip straight to Defenders. That's only 8 episodes so you might get on better with it. And you can always go back and catch up on the others if you get the urge. It works fine without watching absolutely everything. I could barely remember the first seasons of DD and JJ while I was watching it as they were so long ago.

Won't I be confused though? Having skipped Cage and IF?

There's some references you might not get and the background of an important supporting character but nothing critical IMO. The Daredevil seasons and Iron Fist are more important to the plot on that front. I was just thinking 13 episodes of Luke Cage might be difficult to get through if the first episode is a struggle, especially as the 2nd half of the show is worse than the first half. And Iron Fist isn't too hot in general. And if you didn't like JJ then the appeal of Defenders might be limited with just DD as the standout (the villains and story aren't great). I loved the portrayal of Luke Cage by Colter and his early episodes regardless of the gradual tail-off to the show (as well as loving the whole shows of DD & JJ) so it was an easy watch for me.

That's why Elektra and Catwoman have better rating these days. :oldrazz:

To be fair these are so atrocious you can't really defend them. WW is getting more praise than it should imho but it's not a bad thing considering how important it is.

And the fact 'men' like Cameron still have the audacity to open their mouths and say stuff like this, like anyone, especially women care about his opinion about it, shows how important it is.

Wonder Woman is a great movie that deserves every dime it made. Naturally many of the people that overpraise it have an agenda but really who doesn't. There's no such thing as unbiased opinions especially if it comes to geek culture. The movie is by no means overrated.

Imho it is. I thought technical side wasn't that good so the Oscar talk among some makes it overrated for me. Some editing decisions made in the movie have no business being in the movie of this caliber. It certainly has a lot of heart and that's why I rated it highly but in no way was this film great film-making.

When you think about it, they often give awards to movies for political reasons anyway, so why should this be any different. It may not be great filmmaking, but to me it's still quality cinema.

Thankfully it backfires. Everyone knows when something wins for 'political' reason over the films that are actually worthy of accolades.

I try to stay off twitter but some of these just make my day. Kind of sad but still funny at the same time.

Well it doesn't always backfire. Nobody claims The Pianist doesn't deserve its accolades because of what Polanski has been accused of.

What? That's completely different. WW is imho not worthy of accolades because of its quality. We're talking about something being overrated because of idea not boycotted over one person's actions.

And honestly as a woman I hope it doesn't win anything, especially over something like Dunkirk. Nolan's insane dude bro fans (and there is a lot of them) would just throw so much hate Jenkins, Gadot and most likely every woman's they encounter way. Nolan does have some normal fans obviously and his films are amazing but his rabid "fans" are just the worst of the worst.

I'm probably one of those Nolan dude bro fans(not of the most insane though) and I'd like to see Jenkins get an Oscar win over him. lol If nothing else, just to see the social media meltdown. I get a huge kick out of those because they are so absurd.
