reading the latest issue of Time magazine.

Bill Gates is the guest editor.
he put together articles/interviews to show how the world at large is getting better though due to 24/7 new cycle it may not feel like it.

but the numbers show that it really is - and it gives you hope in humanity.

Movies to add up to trilogies of the new characters like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Carol Danvers, Strange...maybe an Avengers movie in-between here and there, and maybe Ant-Man. And I dunno, depending on when this merger with Fox is looked at, maybe sprinkle an X-Men or Fantastic 4 film here and there.

Though personally, I won't be nearly as invested in the MCU at that point. Heck, even now I find myself more excited for the likes of Black Panther than Infinity War, which I'm not as anticipated for as other comic based films this year.

And on Chastain, yes, excellent in A Most Violent Year...which is a deceptively titled film. She reminded me of Kelly Reilly's character on the second season of True Detective.

Let's see... there's Ant man 3, Dr Strange 2 and 3, Spider-man 2 and 3, Captain Marvel 2 and 3, Guardians 3, Avengers 5 and 6, Black Panther 2 and 3, Fantastic four 1, 2 and 3, X-men 1, 2 and 3.... I made these last two into full on trilogies when they probably weren't even in the cards when Feige said there's 20 movies planned out... And still that's only 18

Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 3
Doctor Strange 2
Doctor Strange 3
Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Black Panther 2
Black Panther 3
Captain Marvel 2
Captain Marvel 3
Ant-Man 3
Avengers 5
Avengers 6
Avengers 7

That's 13 right there, which leaves room for at least 3 new IP trilogies. I'll be surprised if F4 and/or X-Men aren't included now.

lol that's just overload.
i sort of miss the days when we'd just get hyped for one upcoming raimi spider-man movie or one nolan batman movie.

when less was more.

I also can't do math apparently, because if that's 13 movies, then there's only room for 2 more trilogies to keep it under 20, lol. But let's be real, I doubt they'll keep it under 20.

Was literally just re-watching the first Raimi Spider-Man a few days ago. Sure, there's something to be said about these comic book films nowadays being interconnected and we as geeks are just downright spoiled with the amount of content now that these films have made comic material more mainstream.

But I feel there's a charm lost from the more standalone films that was just the hero and their plight for a film or three and less how they related to the world of heroes around them.

Is this the Lounge of Justice?

Ok.

don't get me wrong, i love the inter-connected universe stuff.
and i think what marvel has done with the mcu has largely been impressive.

but i can't shake the feeling that so much of it feels more product-driven and less heart-driven.

all these superhero movies are "product" yes, but there's that sense of charm you mentioned that i felt the stand-alone movies like raimi's spiderman had that is missing now.

Catherine Zeta Jones in that black dress. Sweet lawd. Aging like a fine wine. She should have been our 90s Wonder Woman.

Lucy Lawless was already our 90s Wonder Woman.

No wonder Nancy Allen wanted killed off in RoboCop 3.

Murphy imposter is awful.

Watching (skimming through) Rogue one. Not my cup of tea at all but credit where it's due the CGI on K2SO is unbelievable. My brain is fully convinced that it's a physical, tangible robot and yet it's all motion capture. No practical components. Wowzers.

I kinda wish all these films were done and put out waaay sooner. Kinda feels like a bummer growing a year older with each one of these films. Especially if they suck. BY the time The Batman comes out we all gonna be about two or three years older. Goddamn.

WB takes a lot of time to get those DC movies made.

lol that's just overload.

Agreed.

Edit: If you are a Marvel fan, in 3 years you will see about 12 (or 15) Marvel movies, if you are a DC fan, you will see 3 (or 4) DC movies.
