Rockwell and Franco and Chalamet's stans tears. Oh what a beautiful morning.

"I know he ain't her rapist...but he is A RAPIST" I'd give Rockwell all the awards and my own kidney for his performance

Also I had to pause the movie when Harrelson said "the lady...with the funny ****ing eye? Jesus Christ!" I was laughing so hard

I loved that line too; I tend to forget (despise acting in one of McDonagh's plays) how he tends to do these 180-turns with the characters you least expect (or at least, he gets me every time); I wasn't entirely sure where the story was heading to that point, but then the ending caught me off guard (again) and it all fitted perfectly (which is also "classic McDonagh", I'd say.

Woody is always a win. Always.

 I haven’t seen Shape of Water yet but so far Three Billboards is easily my favorite of the major Oscar contenders.

I'm really looking forward to watching Shape of Water, been intrigued since the first trailer.

Thank you very much, guys.

What an evening! :ilv:

On one hand, it sucks, on the other, there are people with much worse health issues so I'm not whining about that or anything. The only thing that really irritates me is without sugar, my brain is like inhibited. :wall: I can really feel I'm a lot slower and dumber then I used to be. :funny: Which I really hate, I loved my intellect. :csad: :woot: I studied logic at university and now I'm glad I can detect a spelling error when I'm posting here, I've become quite dyslexic, I'm speaking a lot slower since I just can't find words, for example, etc.

Time to destroy some more brain cells with booze and pot. :funny:

You know, in the end, this fricking whining about our beloved movies and characters is where the fun is. Sometimes when one sees all the suffering in the world and wants to help everybody... ultimately he's glad he can just help himself, his nearest vicinity and don't piss off more people than is unavoidable in our day to day lives.

Like... One hopes there's some higher meaning or something, but after reading not even too many philosophical books and putting one and one together, I'm glad I'm haven't end up in a madhouse, that I'm able to function at least somewhat normally and go here to rant about Disney ruining everything. Lel.

Dude, I really hope you get better, and I thank you for the much needed perspective.

Us, all of us humans have live under this constant risk of becoming completely lost inside our own rectums; we are truly un-inclined to put ourselves in someone else's shoes and there lies the problem with us....but personally I appreciate every little slap in the back of my head reminding me that much needed perspective.

Also, as a strong cannabis supporter, light up buddy ;)

reading the latest issue of Time magazine.

Bill Gates is the guest editor.
he put together articles/interviews to show how the world at large is getting better though due to 24/7 new cycle it may not feel like it.

but the numbers show that it really is - and it gives you hope in humanity.

I was just talking about it to some people the other day; our 24/7 access to information and our sensationalist nature (fed and chewed up by modern media) would make it seem like "the end is nigh" (wow...because we've never heard that before, right??), simply because we see and know what's happening in the world in real time, but the truth is that the world has consistently been moving to a better place for a long time....there's just no clicks in reporting good news.

Catherine Zeta Jones in that black dress. Sweet lawd. Aging like a fine wine. She should have been our 90s Wonder Woman.

Excuse BN, but....no.

Where's that from...??

Also, yeah...I'm starting to feel the saturation with these movies....or maybe it's just the MCU (and I am an MCU fan, I love most of those movies); I think back then when we didn't get the now standard 3 servings a year, there was a bit more variety and charm to these movies, there was usually a single director's vision which also allowed for a defined and finite character arc for the protagonist (in the case of Nolan's and Raimi's series, for example, and what it could have been Superman's journey in Snyder's series), but when you have a character as part of a universe first, where their appearances are not defined from the beginning and can end up being a lot more than anticipated based on the audience's reaction to said character, this personal character arc becomes more and more diluted, also because of different creative teams working on the same character within the same universe.

I'm not saying that's necessarily what happens every time, but it's certainly a risk with these interconnected universes, I still think they have done mostly a good job keeping the personal character journeys moving progressively and making sense within the context of their stories while doing so (both MCU and DCEU.....except for Cap; man, I love you Steve, I really do, but you need to grow the hell up :oldrazz:), it's mostly the standardization and lack of variety which affects my personal interest and enjoyment of these movies, and I think in the long run it could ruin the genre, OR in the other hand, might be the gateway for Disney to take over the world and lead us to a standardized dystopian society.

Or...you know....they might just fade away...

Jesus....I haven't had a film make me wince so much as "Brawl in Cell Block 99". I thought I was desensitized to violence. But damn. This film.... Also I always knew Vince Vaughn would make a fantastic drama actor. What a performance.

Yup, one of the articles even mentioned this exact thing - that we now readily know what's going in the world but human nature tends to focus on the negative.
the fact that death, disease, and war happens alot less frequently now compared to ages past does not get reported often enough.
someone even quoted MLK Jr., which i think is a very good quote: "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice."

Excuse BN, but....no.

Ah yes, Monica Belluci. maybe one of my first celebrity crushes.

dystopian? you mean utopian! :oldrazz:

jk. but yeah, i pretty much feel the same way.

Nothing like a bunch of millionaires spending 3 hours lecturing ordinary people about right and wrong. Each year gets more obnoxious than the last.

The worst part is at least half the people in that room were aware of what Weinstein or Spacey were doing all along.

As a teen I used to love Award season. I still remember the huge kick I got when Denzel won over Crowe. Today it's a bunch of two-faced, self-serving "activists" who just collect a paycheck and talk down to people.

So with shows like these you basically find out your favorite actors are snooty poseurs or how should I understand that? :woot: Since I haven't seen it.

A straight up no BS raw 70s style film.

Vaughn was excellent.

More or less. People who seem to mistake their popularity for some kind of moral authority, or opportunists who now use a situation, that they helped create, for political reasons to help their career. Worst part is they act like this is someone else's fault when they are the one who covered it up for so long. It's like saying some guy watching Star Wars in a theater is responsible for covering up for Weinstein, and not the hundreds of wealthy male and female elitists that knew all about it and said nothing for the sake of their own careers. Matt Damon can go suck a ****. After everything was exposed, for this type of people to try to take some moral highground is laughable to me.

I was not prepared for it. Seeing quite a few people listing it as their best action sequence of the year made me expect something akin to John Wick. Needless to say.....I won't be able to eat tonight.

Meh, who am I kidding. I'm hungry as hell. :funny:

I actually quite liked Oprah's speech. But eh, what are ya gonna do.

Very interested in checking out First They Killed My Father after seeing a clip.

Ive thoughr for a long time that Vince Vaughn would make a great Lex.

I swear to God every time I remember Jackman's reaction when he lost to Franco I laugh out loud :funny:

giphy.gif

What's really hilarious is that Franco didn't actually invite Wiseau to the stage but Wiseau just got up and started walking towards stage so Franco had no choice but to wave at him to come up :funny:
