So everyone be prepared for the:
Episode VIII is too dependent on ESB references cause Luke is training Rey like Yoda trained Luke. Rey may have to face off Kylo like Luke had to face Vader to become a Jedi.

Huh. That could explain why Luke has been AWOL for so long. I hadn't realized that he would have felt immense guilt at his nephew turning to the Dark Side while under his tutelage. The fact that Ren killed all his disciples must have been doubly crushing for him. So I guess that would explain his reluctance to train Rey when the next movie comes around.
Earlier I was a little peeved that Luke had gone into hiding while the galaxy was turing to **** and the First Order running amok with Kylo Ren leading the charge. It just seemed so unlike him to just abandon his friends and family in their hour of need while he went off sightseeing at old Jedi ruins. But thinking about it now, his history with Ren would have been the perfect reasoning to disappear like that.
I really hope that Rey isn't his daughter. Let's not beat that dead horse again.
But the movie isn't called 'Luke Skywalker'.
Honestly it just makes me more excited for the movies that follow, because I know he'll have a bigger presence obviously.
I really hope that, for Episode 8, we get to see Luke portrayed as a VERY Powerful Jedi.
I've had several friends who have done nothing but made fun of Luke as a Jedi, simply because his fighting style with a lightsaber wasn't as fast and intense (from their perspective) as the likes of Obi-Wan and Darth Maul from the Prequel Trilogy.
Plus, they always state that Vader pretty much let Luke win in their lightsaber fight as he would never really aim to kill his son, thus making Luke appear more weaker in their eyes.
Still though. His sword fighting looked more realistic. They'll definitely speed up the choreography in the next movie. No doubt. In those days, we choreographed the scene and George looked at it and he said "you can't take your hand off the lightsaber", we said "why", and he said "its heavy. Its like Excalibur, which really limits the kind of movements you can make." Ya know, flash-forward a couple of decades, we're watching the "Phantom Menace" and their twirling them around like batons. He changed his mind.
The Hounds attitude about Arya's water dancing sword play in Game Of Thrones is pretty accurate to how some folks view the lightsabre battles in the prequels.
The lightsaber fights got ridiculous after a while in the prequels. There was far to much overly choreographed twirling and bouncing about for no particular reason.
Vader might not of wanted to kill Luke but he had no problem maiming him.

Only after seeing Luke in TFA have I realized how little of Luke's life we actually saw in the OT. Just imagine if they kept making movies.
Agreed. Obi-wan vs. Maul was the pinnacle of lightsaber battles as they were fast but there was still intensity, weight and force behind the swings and parries. In contrast Obi-Wan vs Anakin got a bit ridiculous as they were basically love-tapping their sabers together.
