Just saw this on Reddit a mash up of Gibson and Hardy

That looks mostly like Mel Gibson to me. A little of Hardy's eyes and mouth.

This movie wasn't on my radar but now it is. I'm sort of suspicious of it going all Michael Bay explosion fest but it made for a mighty fine teaser trailer or whatever it was.

Just saw the trailer. It actually looks somewhat awesome. I say this as an Australian who's only seen 25 minutes or so of the original, and thought it was irritating. :)

I was wondering when that sawed-off shotgun was going to show up.

Finally managed to watch Mad Max for the first time yesterday and I hated it, hasn't aged well at all. Felt like all of it was incoherent, the script is a total mess, it's incredibly boring, Gibson barely has anything to do. It's low budget without a doubt.

Hopefully, Road Warrior will be much better.

Road Warrior is on a whole other level. Still to this day it has some of the best action scenes ever filmed.

The first is by far the hokiest. And its world really doesn't fit in with the other two.

Beyond Thunderdome started off great with Bartertown and then the Thunderdome fight but then... ugh. Though damned kids and the second half just brings the movie crashing down.

In the first one some relics of society remained, in the second one it was full post apocalyptic, hence the visual difference of the world.
Anyway MadMax II is the best, cool cars, cool villain, feral kid and gyro-captain.

two men enter one man leaves :cwink:

I never got why people crapped on Thunderdome for the kid angle. It's not like it turned into some cuddly little movie about love and smiles. A kid died in quicksand and Max punches a teenager girl dead in the face....hardly something any kind of big budget film these days would dare to do.

Beyond Thunderdome is awesome. It's a little more comedic, and the violence isn't as graphic, but the world still feels like Mad Max and it still feels dangerous. It still has that edge, it's just not as big of a downer as the first two, which is breath of fresh air imo.

Thunderdome is a fun movie but it's an interesting Hollywood system story that we've seen before with 'Army of Darkness' and 'Chronicles of Riddick'. When a sequel gets green lit from a popular but ultimately cult films. When you get more people involved, the product will ultimately change, and out popped 'Thunderdome', which was also riding on the rising popularity of Mel.

I do think poop on it too much. I think it's actually a better movie than the original 'Mad Max' though I give that one a pass because it was this low budget, experimental Aussie film. It does lack the raw edge of The Road Warrior, and for some reason, Mel looks less cool looking in the film. Maybe it's the 'kilt' thing he wears? His leather jack is less fitted? I don't know.

Either way it is a product of the Hollywood system, while the other two had less of that. That being said, 'Thunderdome' still remains the most kid friendly movie with BDSM until '50 Shades' arrives. :p

Spoke to someone who saw the screening Wednesday night. I'll quote a few things he said about it. No spoilers.

It's a truly visionary movie, style wise. There's nothing like it I've seen before but like I said, it's pretty removed from the first three. I think your enjoyment of it will hinge on how much you're willing to accept some of those changes. We've waited a long time for this and had to suffer through a lot of 'inspired by's and rip-offs since so I understand why they didn't just rehash what came before. It would have just looked like Doomsday or some other ****e like that. I'm onboard with the decisions they've made and if there's anything I wasn't 100% about, I'm confident they'll figure it out between now and next May. It's in very good hands.
I asked how the whole film compares to the SDCC trailer...
It's a truly fantastic trailer. Does exactly what it's supposed to do. I don't know that ANY movie could live up to what it's selling. Everything in there is in the movie, if that helps. Haha! If WOM is going to hurt it, that won't be the reason. This isn't like Prometheus, which had one of the greatest trailers of all time in my opinion, but ended up sucking giant ballsacks as a finished movie. The trailer's vibe is very much present in the movie, I would say. It's a crazy movie. No joke.
