Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 1

Quite frankly, its not as if the world has much riding on there being a fifth Mad Max film. I say bring on as much weirdness as suits this movie being incredible, alienation be damned.

I'm not even disagreeing. I want it to be weird as Mad Max has always been. Let the freak flag fly, I say. I'm just saying I'm surprised they're pushing that aspect in the trailers.

I really have no idea how this will do.

But Mad Max, George Miller, and Tom Hardy, honestly, are all kind of off-kilter on their own.

I've seen a couple screening reviews that said Theron stole the show and Hardy was weird. There's also been some praising Hardy, but he doesnt really play most roles in normal ways and kind of does his own thing. He's not a straightforward conventional action hero. I'd say he's a lot less of one than Gibson, and I don't really see him being as popular, partly because he doesn't seem to care.

You know what? This seems like one of those rare movies that was made just for me, and - since my tastes tend to skew toward the ultra-weird - therefore shouldn't exist. So, I'm just going to appreciate the fact that it's real and seems to have an actual budget and has probably just alienated half of middle-America with this trailer and call it an early X-Mas :D

I love how unsettling the whole thing looks. Absolutely love it.

Watching this in 3D in the biggest screen possible after a few drinks.

That movie looks ****ing awesome. Seriously, it's visuals alone look ****ing amazing. Add in all that amazeballs action and you've got me hooked. Opening night!

You guys could keep your superhero movies, Jurassic Worlds, Terminator 5s and Star Wars. This here movie is all I'm gonna need as far as big budget blockbuster entertainment is concerned. After over 20 years of waiting and it's looking even better than I imagined it would. Fury Road IS my 2015. Thank you George Miller for never giving up on it.

SPOILER ALERT!

Or maybe, I have an idea that seems valid.
I am calling it now Mel Gibson plays a lead role in the movie as the same character. And he shown in the trailers.
you mean this ?
this is not Mel Gibson in prosthetics

so why am i seeing a Mel Gibson cameo?

if you mean the guy with the white hair and mask its not him. its the villain from the first movie .

Nathan Jones character is called Rictus Erectus :funny:

The weirdness of Mad Max is partly what made it stand out from your average movie.

When you have guys wearing backless chaps and hockey masks you know they aren't holding back on the weird.

The weirdness makes Mad Max stand out from the crowd, from Book of Eli or whatever.

This looks absolutely gorgeous! Glorious trailer :hrt:

I think Rammstein just got their new tour show ideas.

We'll see. I don't think Weird will prove nearly as viable with ultra-violence and fetish gear in place of cute kid-friendly characters and a Marvel logo. But I'd be happy to be wrong, because as I said, I think it looks awesome.

All of a sudden people think things like Snow Piercer and it's ilk are sure hits. GotG changed everything with all the chances it took and oddness it presented. Starting with it's soundtrack.

I agree with you, I'm bloody well looking forward to this but I'm not looking past some things.

Its not even just Guardians though. When given a chance and a proper release (ie not limited to 300 screens and a same day VOD release), atypical movies can do very well. The highest grossing movie of all time is about blue 10 foot tall cat people who ride dragons.

I always find it amusing that Miller is capable of stuff like this yet creates child classics like Babe and Happy Feet. He truly is a mastermind.

Lmfao@ starting with it's soundtrack

There is nothing odd or risk taking with using music that people still drunkenly sing at a bar every weekend. I would understand if they were using like Can's music or 801's music but some of the biggest and most played out pop rock hits of all time? songs that have been used in sitcoms, movies and TV commercials for the past 30 years?

I'm sure there was a lot of oddress and risk taking with that movie but it certainly wasn't with the soundtrack

That trailer was even better than the last. Looks ****ing spectacular and crazy and violent and unique. People of younger generations won't know what hit them when they see this.

And what is with the criticism of the music? It's awesome and i love the way both of these trailers have been edited with the score in mind.

Yeah. I was gonna say. That soundtrack is made of HITS. And nothing about GOTG is that weird. It's a total Marvel movie.

Mad Max is a different beast.
