I have seen Mad Max: Fury Road, but embargoes mean I cannot tell you whether or not it's an instant classic or anything. I'm not even sure I can tell you that the film has incredibly deep and subtle themes, including a powerful and surprising feminist slant that takes the form of a critique of the patriarchy. But if I could tell you that, I would tell it to you in the context of explaining why Eve Ensler was brought on to consult.

It shows in the movie, where the women aren't just MacGuffins but are unique characters, each with a unique way of dealing with her trauma and survival. It's a testament to just how good... wait, I can't say anything else.

Tom Hardy AND feminism??!?!?!

:woo: :woo: :woo: :woo:

And it's extremely positive. Nice!

Saw it tonight at a special screening. Loved it! Unfortunately, I was with someone that thought almost everything in the movie was supposed to be funny or humorous, so I couldn't really get into the more emotional parts of the movie...but it was a really well done movie. Of course, it takes quite a suspension of disbelief, BUT the movie was totally KICK@$$!

George Miller and Tom Hardy talk about the character of Max:

I am just to sit back and enjoy the over twenty years of waiting.

FURY ROAD

with or without Mel looks like it will be a good summer popcorn flick.

It needs at least 450 million WW to get a sequel since it cost over 200 million to make and market.

I think it can do that!

"R" rated films are tough

Just a week away, can nay wait. So glad they went with the full R though.

Hopefully, between this, Kingsman, and Deadpool, we get a bit of a revitalization of the R-rated action flick.

I only saw the first two in the last three weeks and I'm very hyped for this one. Imagine how the rest of you who've loved this for years feel. :funny:

All of the trades were predicting 215-230mil opening weekend (I was too BTW) for Age of Ultron. Movies have under-performed and over-preformed expectations. I listen to tracking in a lot of respects but it's not an exact science. It may do under forty or over 60 million, we just don't know yet.

I think the reviews are going to be really important to a film like this. Like I think the reviews have to at least be around Kingsman levels for a breakout. Even if I like dislike the film I hope it succeeds, we need more than super safe comedic superhero films.

Very cool of Mel to show up and embrace Hardy and Miller like that!

I've never seen a Mad Max movie (Don't kill me) and haven't seen anything of this beyond the first trailer but it's got a really cool look to it so I think I'm gonna check this out

You should watch the Road Warrior CWR. The basis for all post-apocalyptic shows, games and films the last 30 years.

Road Warrior is definitely The One to watch.
