Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 2

I'm amazed at the people saying they didn't like them or at least the first Mad Max because it was not a quality film. Umm... It was not supposed to be, nor was it promoted to be. It is an old Post Apocalyptic series following the adventures of a man named Max. It had an extremely low budget and it was filmed in the 70's. When watching any Mad Max film an Inception or Interstellar quality is not to be expected lol.

Uh, what the hell does that even mean? It is suppose to be horrible?

I judge films on their quality and how they effect me personally.

It means it was an film with an extremely low budget........... So therefore the sets, the costumes, the "special effects" and others are going to be a lower quality. How is that hard to understand?

Why does that means it need not be a quality movie to be judged a quality movie? Plenty of cheap films are great.

You have to understand the history of how and when the first movie was made.

The first Mad Max was a ultra low budget seventies Australian B-movie by a first time director and didn't get a proper release from its U.S distributor. They stole stuff to use as props the budget was so low. The film did well internationally and found developed a cult following on late night television in the U.S

Mad Max 2: Road Warrior had a bigger budget which allowed George Miller to be more ambitious. This film was distributed by Warner Bros which helped it be commercially and critically successful.

How does that change the quality of the film? The film is the film.

You are right, and Mad Max is great to many people. Its without a doubt one of my favorite 70's films and favorite Action-apocalyptic movie as well as the series.

I'm not trying to change your mind whether you liked the movie or not. But I don't understand your reasoning either. agree to disagree I suppose.

You are right, and Mad Max is great to many people. Its without a doubt one of my favorite 70's films and favorite Action-apocalyptic movie as well as the series.

I'm not trying to change your mind whether you liked the movie or not. But I don't understand your reasoning either. agree to disagree I suppose.

My point is the amount a movie cost has nothing to do with how good it is. You can make a great film on the cheap and horrible one with hundreds of millions. Mad Max doesn't get a pass because it was made in the 70s on the cheap. So was Mean Streets, and it is fantastic.

The first Mad Max is great for what it is. It has aged quite badly... but the premise and the world Miller created was unique (at the time) and well realized considering it's budget. It's flawed but the genius of Miller is there for all to see. I mean, a lot of people, important people, saw something in him as a film maker. That's what Hollywood funded The Road Warrior and he was able to refine his skills and take them to the next level. Simple fact of the matter is if Mad Max was a terrible film The Road Warrior wouldn't have been made and Miller would have faded into obscurity.

For me The Road Warrior is still one of the best action films ever made.

Even Beyond the Thunderdome has some crazy genius behind it. A lot of so called top film makers would kill for an ounce of Miller's imagination.

John Wick is really good though. It looks sharp and has some A level stunt work.

And those were the best parts! But didn't he write it too? It's just so bat **** crazy. It isn't exactly a great film, but i can appreciate the imagination and the world building.

Right and you addressed that already. What I'm saying in my previous post is that Mad Max IS a great film to many people. You just don't share that same thought or opinion, that's fine, no biggie. I never called it horrible. And different opinions are great, but it is still ridiculous to start talking about the qualities of a film based on how much it cost to make. At least two arguments were about it being low budget, as if that effected how good it is. That makes it sound like people are grading it on some sort of curve.

I didn't find Mad Max to be a quality film either which is why I still haven't viewed Road Warrior.

In my top ten films of all time. Is is outdated tho. But if you like good cheese and awesome action sequences, it will work for you. When I hear Hardy say in V.O. ''I'm the Road Warrior'' My heart skips a beat.

Agreed! I've said it once and I'll say it again, Mad Max Fury Road and Jurassic World are my most anticipated movies for this Summer and yes, that's even over Avengers Age of Ultron.

I look at it like this, It can't be any worse than Jurassic Park III lol

So I doubt I'll be disappointed.

- Yes, not a big fan of Mad Max but I really love The Road Warrior.
- Maybe Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2? (Even though I like both.)
