Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 6

As much as i love this film, i don't want a sequel. For once can we just get a stand alone film? I fear a sequel at this point won't reach the critical status of Fury Road, and will disappoint many....

Amazing morning for Fury Road. I want Miller to win best director, he probably won't but I want him to.

Yeah, I really want them to win some of the good awards. But, I'm not exactly trustful of the Academy.

It's not going to win the big two but it will win a couple of technical awards.

It being nominated for BP/BD is an achievement however deserved.

A summer blockbuster sequel to a niche Sci-Fi/Action franchise. Miller and his team must be ecstatic by now.

Congratulations to George Miller. He deserves it.

These nominations are definitely wins in and of themselves.

Fury Road is an action masterpiece. if it wins an oscar fans will say that its an overhyped action movie. . MM FR dosnt need an oscar.

I hope as they did with Gravity the Academy gives Miller the award out of recognition that he did something basically no one else would or could do.

They've been much more open to Picture/Director splits.

That said it would be incredible for it to win picture. It won't but goddamn if something like Spotlight wins it will be ridiculous. Fury Road is basically the definition of "cinematic."

I hope it takes all of the design awards. The costume and makeup work in this movie is insane. So much of what makes its characters work is communicated visually.

I think George Miller winning Best Director would be a bigger deal than the movie winning Best Picture.

Cinematic doesn't have to mean bombastic or high-octane. Fury Road is a masterpiece of its genre, but arguably so is Spotlight. They're just on very opposite ends of filmmaking.

Finally something worth really pulling for at the Oscars. Only to be let down surely.

I'm bracing for the disappointment of strong and courageous Redmayne stealing an Oscar again honestly.

It's funny that The Revenant is using the 'it waz sooo haard to film it' narrative to win votes in the Oscar race, when this film has just as much of a claim on the "difficult to make" narrative as any film.

But this film does not need it. Its greatness is there on the screen, on every frame of it. It does not project the air of pompous self importance while paradoxically feeling empty and without purpose, that you would need a narrative like that to generate interest firmly outside of the film doing the talking.

Yeah. You don't see Miller, Hardy, or Theron constantly crying about how harsh the Outback was to shoot in.

Being transgender become a hot topic when Bruce/Caitlyn made the change, so Redmayne's nomination is not surprising.

Weird thing to say about the fourth film in a series.

Aren't most Mad Max films stand alone anyways? You can enjoy Fury Road without having seen any of the others.

you dont need to watch previous movies to understand characters and story.

we also have no proof if this is a sequel or prequel. its a ''story'' told inside the MM universe
