Mad Max: Fury Road - Part 6

Man, if any film is made for the silent movie treatment it's this one, ironic given how loud it is.

Movie is gorgeous I have a 32 1080p Led TV and the only thing I wish is that the TV was bigger cause the picture is perfect.

Edgar Wright, who's seen the cut, said that that trailer is simply a desaturation of the cut we have.

Here's an actual frame from George's cut:

Looks incredible.

So, there actually is a B&W cut coming?

What's the industry reaction to this flick? What does the twitters of filmmakers say?

I've seen a couple of younger directors tweet say they got schooled, lol.

Are there more of these? I'm curious how the other scenes would look. I thought the use of color was fantastic in the movie, I'm not as enthralled as everyone else about the notion of taking it away.

It's loved in the industry. Mad Max: Fury Road is cinema in its purest form: a story told through visuals.

That's the only pic I have. The guy who leaked that leaked a lot of material the day it hit theaters that was eventually on the Blu Ray release, so he seems legit.

Why go through all the trouble of having it desaturated and not release it? You think WB's gonna try to milk it as a separate release?

Apparently Miller didn't even have a second thought about WB not releasing both cuts after they told him he couldn't release it in theaters in B&W, but he could make an alternate cut as so. He wasn't lying to his knowledge when he said the B&W version would be on the Blu Ray, but WB never intended on releasing it apparently. I guess they hoped he'd move on or forget about it. The fan demand of it will probably get high enough to get it released eventually, though.

God, I hope it does. As for the color in the movie, there is a reason he used two primary colors. I think he wanted to replicate contrast of black and white films but in color.

The Furiosa cosplayer goes by "spacemohawks" on tumblr.

Well, I would definitely buy a copy.

I imagine we'll get it in a year or so, like how Gravity had the much talked about music-free edition that they held off on releasing on the first blu-ray only to put on the release roughly year later.

That screenshot is amazing.

There is a music free version of Gravity?

Yep.

"Gravity: Silent Space (Disc 1, HD): An experience that allows fans to watch Gravity without any music, for what Warner calls "a surprising cinematic experience." It isn't exactly surprising, but it is a fascinating way to view the film. And regardless of which version you ultimately prefer, it's well worth your time. As noted above, though, the Silent Space version of the film is presented with lossy 448kbps Dolby Digital 5.1 surround... a disappointment that could have easily been averted."

I think I am on the money in saying that Miller has made something that will be influential going forward years and years from now. I got to think that many of the teens that have seen FURY ROAD now are going to go on and become a world class film makers.

I love the movie exactly the way it is, but that is beautiful.

I think it's the sky and the tree. Kurosawa loved pitting those two elements against each other in his compositions.

There's the sepia like pigmentation, though that may not quite be the right term, but the tonality of the piece feels very much like Kurosawa.
