Some more Worthington hate I see, any reason goes I guess..........

i think he worked in Avatar and i think he is charismatic in interviews. its how some thought that he was the best choice because he was in a Cameron and terminator movie. he was on a lot of casting lists for big budget movies.

With Tom Cruise, I see this just being MI:5.5 and Jack Reacher 1.5

Definitely need someone different.

However, I see Cavill more suited to Bond than to Napoleon Solo.

He just needs to do an Australian accent. There's no reason Jake Sully couldn't have been Australian.

And Cruise doing another spy movie wasn't necessary, but Henry Cavill isn't a quarter of the actor he is.

Worthington can't change his accent, that's my issue. Any actor that wants to make it big as a leading man has to be able to muster a generic American accent, you just have to. And we don't even have very discernible ears regarding accents, so if joe average said it sucked, you know it sucked.

With guy ritchie involved, I can see Cavill finally having a hit(outside MoS) here.

Depends if it's like that I-Spy adaptation a few years back.

He did work in Avatar.

And I agree he is charismatic in interviews which is strange that he can never bring it to any roles. I guess he's better at being himself.

Perhaps, but let's give Cavill the benefit of the doubt here. Cruise has been a major star since the 80s. After a couple more decades of acting experience, who knows? Maybe Cavill will be as famous as Cruise, will have starred in as many high-profile projects and be seen as a leading man talent on Cruise's level. Cavill has been good in pretty much everything I've seen him in, and in some cases, very good (Immortals, The Tudors and hopefully Man of Steel).

Well, it might also be that he really hasn't had many good scripts or directors to work with other than Avatar. He was decent in Texas Killing Fields, but in films like Crap of the Titans, Terminator Salvation and Man on a Ledge, he was awful... but those are also three movies that would have sucked no matter who played the lead actor due to terrible scripts and bad direction.

Worthington's David Hasselhoff mullet in Man on a Ledge didn't help though. :D

Worthington for a big screen Knight Rider remake. :D

Nice to hear Cavill is getting looked at for this

About Worthington, I always thought that Mad Max would be the perfect role for him. He could use his natural accent, doesnt require a lot of emoting, and it involves action which he seems good at

Oh well, that role went to Tom Hardy. Maybe Worthington can can do the inevitable Lethal Weapon remake instead.

Ethan Hunt and Jack Reacher are nothing alike so I'm sure Cruise would have made Napoleon Solo different as well, especially as I think this will be a more comedic spy film.

Cavill seems a solid choice looks-wise (Jury is out on his acting), him and Hammer being in the same age range mirrors the original duo as well.

Sam Worthington, IMO, is very charming in interviews.

I wonder if he just is unable to convey it while acting, or if he just hasn't found the right role to showcase it.

Maybe he should try a romantic comedy role instead of an action hero.

He's got the Clive Owen/Jason Statham problem, he's too busy trying to concentrate on sounding American it affects his performance. Statham's career took off when he stopped that and Owen gets more love when he's Brit (I.E. Children of Men).

I've noticed a few British/Aussie actors have that issue.

Ralph Fiennes is stiffer when he's doing battle with an attempt at an American accent.

Worthington's American accent wasn't too bad in Texas Killing Fields. Sounded okay to me.

lol at Clive Owen's attempt at an American accent.... those Sin City memories.

When did Jason Statham ever attempt an American accent? I don't recall ever seeing him do that. Or if I did, I guess he was so bad at it that I just assumed he was using his English accent.

Tyrese said he's the only british guy doing it big right now that's not even attempting to do an American accent.
