Man From U.N.C.L.E movie

Kuryakin used to wear suits all the time in season 1 at least, granted they were standard dark suits and not worn with the style if sophisticated elegance that Solo adopted.

As fir muscles, having muscles isn't the problem; it's the size and mass that's jarring. If you took Cavill from how he looked in Immortals he'd be fine in a suit but as he's in superman size/shape it looks like he's ready to hulk out if his suit at any moment and this makes it potentially a hard sell for any guy to really be a credible, physical threat to Cavill's Solo unless he's going up against a bunch of 7ft mountain men.
lol "7ft mountain men." He's bigger than he was in Immortals but he doesn't look quite as big as he did on The Man of Steel set to me. I mean he was almost in impossible shape for Man of Steel. I still think even in Steel Cavill looks movie normalish in clothes, I mean he isn't the size of Arnold in his prime or The Rock or anything.

Cavill is in no way in his 2012 superman shape. they are making him look bigger with many layers of clothes. they wanted him to look so big.

They're obviously gonna make sure Hammer doesn't look too much more imposing than he does.

The layers of clothes are because of the time period. I'm sure they are trying to make him look good (when doesn't he look good?) or whatever but that's par for the course in films.

The obsession with height is so strange to me, there were obviously taller actors in Man of Steel as well. Nobody but fanboys care about the height thing. This isn't a cartoon, it's real life.

Maybe but secret agents in suits aren't exactly the hulking supermen type. Daniel Craig is a perfect example of having muscles and being a badass but also looks great in a suit without looking like a hulking behemoth ala Cavill. Anyway, this is just an observation maybe and hopefully it will work better within the context of the movie but I'm still very much excited for this movie.

He's definitely bigger than MOS guys. He's really looking pretty big (not a criticism for me personally, I think its awesome and will give him superb screen presence).

In MOS he was completely chiseled, with almost no body fat and a lean 190 pounds. Right now, he's bulking for Batman Vs Superman so would be putting on a lot of mass. So definitely above 200 now and he looks it.

I for think he's absolutely KILLING those suits. I wish I could wear a suit that well. His build is nothing to complain about, it is amazing and he looks fantastic in photos.

Henry is not above 200 right now. He wouldn't start bulking while he's still filming another film. All his outfirts have already been tailored to his built he wouldn't want to mess that up.

These are recent picks he looks much smaller than he did in MoS:

His arms alone have no where near the mass they did in MoS. He's gonna start his bulk as soon as he's done film this film.

Cavill in non-work out mode has a decent every-man built he can pull off. That wouldn't particularity stick out in a role where he's not playing a heavily muscled character.

hah thats funny. i dont remember any veins or muscle striations on his body. he was in fantastic hollywood shape. but he had a lot of bodyfat on his body. he was not even under 10%.

That's correct. Not that being around 10% is bad it's actually fantastic but the hollywood PR machines out there always give these ludicrous numbers like 3% bodyfat to make the actors actually seem like they are super-human. Anyone who's in to fitness can tell the difference between 3% bodyfat and 10% and the difference is pretty startling.

I had so many debates with people about Henry's BF% they all said he was like bodybuilder competitors around 3%-5% when at best he was 8%-10%, he wasn't as "ripped" as people were saying he was, though I thought he actually looked to have the perfect phsyique for Superman.

Why does all this matter? I never understood the obsession over his body from some posters. Is it jealousy or the need to be right over something that really isn't that big of a deal? All I know is he looked great on camera as Superman, I don't care if he had 0 or 10% body fat. I think part of it is jealousy actually but that's how fanboys are when it comes to some actors.

Just curious, how was the fan base of The X-Men like when word got out about Hugh Jackman being cast as Wolverine, considering his comic book counterpart was actually supposed to be one of the shortest of the mutants?

@darkvengence but it's true. Come on, you're coming off humorless as if it really offends you. Have A LAUGH.

Any tread I've seen about or related to Henry Cavill....All of a sudden it become a fitness thread. I'm not saying that out of malice or anything.

Yeah, people do obsess over it a bit much when it comes to Cavill. Do people fixate on Chris Hemsworth's and Chris Evans' physique this much? I don't go into their threads often.

During the first Cap movie the Chris Evan body talk was insane.

I'm not offended at all in any way to be honest I was just asking a serious question, sorry if it was taken out of context.

Why would I be against fitness? I'm against petty jealous fanboy comments whenever women like a non dude approved male actor. I make no bones about being against that.

The Captain America threads were indeed just as annoying because of the "Chris Evans doesn't look that great" grumblings I constantly read. It's like get a life dude Chris Evans doesn't want your lady.

And no Cavill isn't right now and usually isn't in Superman shape but he isn't playing Superman right now so why should I give a flying crap? I don't expect actors to look superhuman and frankly think it's a waste of time to look like that all the time. Be healthy and fit sure of course but superhuman? Nah, don't care and never will.

@warhorse most in the fanbase *****ed about Jackman being way too tall. I'm sure I did to on occasion although my main concern was how leading man good guy this Wolverine was. And I'm used that interpretation now and Jackman is awesome. In the future I'd like something a little closer to the original character but that's just me.

His results were great for MOS because he gave it proper time. He transformed over 6-8 months starting with foundation, then on to bulling, cutting and sculpting.

He's just 4 months before before shooting begins on Batman Vs Superman. And Mark Twight has already been traveling with him for 2 months now. So he's already knee deep in his training and would be round about at his bulking phase now.

By almost no body fat I meant very little, its a phrase used by Cavill himself.

I personally think 10% is too high, he's too cut for that. He claimed 6% for Immortals and Twight and Snyder have claimed 3% for MOS. So I think the figure might be around that, I think it is atleast single digit.

And as I posted in an earlier thread, the conditions for speculating Cavill's body fat might not be ideal.

One thing to realize is that, when you are seeing bodybuilders on stage with 3 percent body fat, everything is geared towards showing off that low body fat. They are completely shaved, oiled up, bronzed, with appropriate stage lighting, water depleted, carb depleted, and flexing to the max. And many other tricks body builders do.

Cavill was doing none of these things, he was extremely pale, very hairy, in very flat drab lighting (actually horrible lighting) and not flexing at all. It is entirely different circumstances. He was just playing a normal man stealing some clothes and running away. I daresay you would see much more of his muscle definition if he did a body building photo shoot with all the bells and whistles.

But this much is certain he had low body fat. Look at the pictures below.

Abs are bulging but look at the arms. Look at the separation between the biceps and the delts, and the pecs and the delts, he is very sharply cut. This kind of sharp appearance comes with low body fat. So even though he might not be 3%, he's definitely single digit.

And both Twight, Snyder and Cavill claimed that figure so it wouldn't be very far off the mark. Cavill very widely claimed that he was at 6% body fat in Immortals. And he looks much much sharply defined in MOS. So he might be around that number.

But remember, the physiques of body builders and actors are presented in extremely different circumstances. It is actually a very disadvantageous way for the actors to present their results, because they just do an incidental scene in films.

Set pics from U.N.C.L.E. in Rome.

Those knowledgeable about U.N.C.L.E, Alicia Vikander is Gaby Teller. Who is she? A character from the show?

It would be great if they did have that theme music for the movie.

Classic strawman...

I am a fitness enthusiast myself, but the obsession over HC's physique is beyond silly. I am fully entitled to think so and yet remain very passionate about exercise and fitness.
