The fact that some of you believe that article is true is beyond me. Look at the writing, it's obviously fan boy bs. As much as I would love for Routh to return.

here's a quickie...

The RT Reviews are in:

Scott Pilgrim is 79% on Rotten Tomatoes (Top Critics place it at 80%).

Expendables is at 42% (Top Critics place it at 35%). They are calling it a flopshow.

I think SP will have great word of mouth, and Expendables.. the opposite.

Scott Pilgrim will win the day, fair 'n' square. Expendables is just another run of the mill straight to dvd action type movie sugarcoated with action heroes of yesteryear & packaged for the cinema. SP although not an original story altogether is uniquely done in it's execution & it's nice to see. It's obvious SP would defeat it on RT.

I'm glad to see him getting a screentest. Must be ever so slightly irritating for Routh though, having to screentest for a role he's already played ............................ but I guess that's how it goes when everything behind the scenes changes!

Kind of, but Routh previously played Bryan Singer's Superman (i.e. a messianic Christopher Reeve) and he'll be auditioning for Nolan's Superman, which let's face it, will be a pragmatic, professional, logical and probably quite emotionally cold version.

Regardless, I think Nolan is giving Routh a screentest simply as a courtesy as Nolan is a very nice man.

OMG, looks just like Mac. Is that a promo pic from Scott Pilgrim?

Wow, I can't believe people here have to be held by the hand in that way. There is seriously a warning about not insulting the different Superman actors? There is really a war over this? Gotta love the Hype LOL

As for Routh, I'm not sure if I've given my opinion here, can't recall. My feelings is that he had a lot of potential in SR, but it wasn't fully utilized. Therefore bringing him back could prove useful in many ways. But seeing as this is a reboot, it wouldn't really be surprising if he doesn't return either. But as I do recall saying though, if Routh returns I'd like Spacey back as well:up:

It's been going on for about 9 years now.

It's not a reboot, it's just a Superman story.

the studio isn't calling it a reboot...but that's essentially what it is...

This pic make me think of Routh as Superman, MEW as Lois Lane and Culkin as Jimmy Olson.

It is not a reboot and it is not a origin story, It is a stand alone Superman movie.

They are moving away from Donner world but not completely abandoning it (that is the original STM Origin Story stays, but other parts may not like Lex as land grabbing goon.)

If it is a Stand alone Superman movie, then they may cast Routh as Superman again.

whatever helps you guys sleep at night. all i know is that they're not using any of the elements from Superman Returns....so basically, they're rebooting the franchise.

i doubt that they'll be using ANY elements that Donner laid down that can't already be attributed to the Superman mythos. this means that IF they end up showing krypton of Superman's vessel then it will most likely look different than Donner/Singer's.

If it is a Stand alone Superman movie, then they may cast Routh as Superman again.
Routh might have a chance, however (and i keep repeating this), if they plan on differentiating this franchise from the previous movie then the easiest/best way to do that is to find a new face.
