now i know my problem with Routh. it's not that he can't act...it's that his voice is too monotone. he's no Ben Stein, but it's like he keeps his voice at a certain range. basically, it's what i like to call the 'Keannu Reeves' effect where he doesn't like to let his voice go past a certain pitch or else he doesn't sound 'cool'. there is little to no variety in the delivery of his lines.

I think that trailer was the international one screened in Europe.

That's why it's edited in that 90s bizarre way.

Works well for deadpan comedy.

At least he's stopped talking in the high-pitched nasal voice with the Iowa accent.

That trailer looked bad, real bad. The effects better be more refined than that come release because that was embarrassing to watch. I think Lost Boys 2: The Tribe had a better look to it & that movie was straight to DVD. Brandon did seem cool it in, but as always they show more action & other characters in the trailer as apposed to Routh himself. I agree with Dorkyfresh though, BR is a very monotone sounding guy.

That trailer looked very made for tv, but if its not a final trailer I can understand why. Looks like it will be cheesy fun.

Brandon looked good in it however

There's one shot in the DON promo trailer where Brandon is grimacing with rage...or pain...and it looks awesome.

Remember when Singer said SR2 would "go all Wrath of Khan?" Yeah, that still is what I was thinking!

Can someone grab it?

You mean in tights?
Hell yea he looked good in tights.
Damn. I wish i could be him.

Dude what is it with your posts about tights & naked men?. Nothing you ever say ever really contributes to anything, you just troll it up with talk of naked men. How have you not been banned or given an infraction I'll never know.

it looks like a television movie

Reminded me of a low budget Constantine

I loved the Dylan Dog trailer, but maybe because it reminded me of "Angel"...like, the whole time I thought I was watching the trailer for a remake for "Angel"...even the vampyres, monsters, etc. looked the same as in that show.

:awesome:

Polux.

Here you go.

trailer looks pretty damn awesome in my opinion!, has that cult vibe from films like Fright Night and others from the 80s and early 90s.
I reckon this movie is going to be great, the practical SFX looks awesome in this movie.
I hope they cut another trailer in HQ.
Looks much much better than so many other crappy modern horror comedies.

Can't wait for this one! Routh looks pretty great in this role and the whole comic book style fonts and look makes this worth waiting for!

Hopefully this will confirm to people that Routh is actually a decent actor.

I really hope they pick him, but if not I hope it's someone who is as good or better as Superman.

Tall order, I know.

Apparently, the Dylan Dog/Dead Of Night 'Trailer' really wasn't meant to be...well...a 'trailer'.....at least not officially....

Hey, everyone. Just wanted to address this so-called “trailer” that has popped up around the web in the last few days. I appreciate some of you trying to share the link to it here on the blog, but it actually wasn’t something we ever intended to be viewed by the public. It was created many months ago as a sales tool for our international sales folks to use. It was made BEFORE a lot of the effects were finished and even uses some test footage that was created before the movie was even done. In fact, there are many creative directions there that weren’t in the finished stages at all. It is NOT representative of what the movie ultimately looked like. We’ve been trying to get it removed from various sites because we think it really isn’t representative of what the movie is now AT ALL. A lot of people, myself included, worked very hard to create a movie we’re all very proud of and I can say with 100% certainty that what is in that “trailer” is not the product we created. The good part of that is that we’re now bending all of our efforts to get an official trailer out there to show you all what the movie really is. Look for it soon.

Russia - what did I ever do to you?

I mean, I know that I cheered at the end of Rocky IV and that I loved Red Dawn with an unhealthy and insane devotion, but seriously. What's your beef?

Cut to early 2007 when TMNT was just about to be released and suddenly 200 or so super high rez images of the film popped up on a Russian site. In chronological order. It was horrible.

Now cut to 3 days ago when a text at night saying "hey - cool DD trailer!" sent a similar shiver down my spine.

So I go to the internet to find that not only is it true that a "trailer" was released, but it was through yet another Russian site. I get it. I must have wronged some Russian dude in a past life and this is the payback.

But it gets worse, as I quickly discover that not only is the trailer not a trailer (it's an international sales piece for international buyers and theatre owners. Not exactly the same crowd we made the movie for.), but it's also UNFINISHED. It's not color timed, and it has NO VFX work... or worse yet, temp VFX work. One of the big monsters looks like a big blue satanic Smurf. And he ain't. And that voice over? It's like a bad Dan LaFontaine impression...

Just so you know, I'm not trying to defend it. I'm not apologizing for it. It just... sucks.

And it's not representative of our movie. At all.

So, once you get past the crappy presentation of the whole thing (if you can, at all), you have to realize something about international sales. They're based off of different things than you get here in America with trailers. We love the tease. We love the suspense. We love just kickass trailers.

And not that international audiences don't. I know they do. But the problem is that the people who SELL American movies to international audiences want them to say "Ahhh!!! Beeeg amerikan mooovie! Beeeeg explosions and the guns and the bang bang! I like eet!". (my worse non-specific foreign dialect impression) And they don't think you like comedy. Especially dark Dylan Dog comedy.

I wish it was different, but it's not. And it's the same reason a mediocre action movie with a big star can just flop here, but make a ton of money overseas. It sets a horrible precedent, and it just trickles down to the people selling the stuff. Don't believe me? Just watch The Expendable make $200 million overseas over the next month or two.

But the difference between Expendables and Dylan Dog is that... well, Dylan Dog isn't that kind of movie. So when they try to sell it as that, it just looks so... cheap. (again, ****** presentation notwithstanding). And not true to the spirit of the movie.

So thanks for your patience and understanding. We're almost there.

Anyway, producers are doing everything they can to make sure the world sees a trailer for our movie the way it should be seen...

...not sucky.

Once again, sorry Russia.

But I'd still cheer for the Wolverines all over again.

And Ivan Drago had it comin'...
