Yeah, I read that News of the World article today. It IS a tabloid newspaper, and has posted its fair share of dubious, unreliable rumors, but since they're actually quoting Snyder from an interview they had with him, I'd say we can accept as fact that Snyder did indeed say it. So at least he's acknowledging the support for Brandon Routh.
Aw, Edgar Wright tweeted this:

Just quickly, Last week I reported, in Quick News, that a pal at Warner Bros had mentioned Brandon Routh was still in the mix despite the actors option having lapsed, and the fact this films said to have no link to the original to play The Man of Steel in Zack Snyders new Superman movie.
Everyone enjoyed Rouths performance as [both] Superman and Clark Kent in Bryan Singers Superman Returns (2006) so no surprise that the young actor might at least get to do coffee with Snyder; still, nice to know he is in the mix.

God I really hope he gets a shot! If he does he's my number 1 choice for sure.
I thought he wasnt going to have a chance so I stopped hoping for him, but now that he has a chance....ROUTH FOR SUPERMAN!!
He's the perfect choice! Out of any other choices he's the best. Perfect height, perfect look, perfect age! He's got it all!
Not sure if this was posted:

Clint from Moviehole says " Routh is still in with a chance"
Along with "Armie Hammer as another name being tossed around by the Warners.
Not surprising, but interesting nevertheless.
More from Clint today over at Moviehole about Brandon Routh possibly playing Superman

I'm really hesitating believing this News of the World "interview". I mean......it's News of the World! He doesn't divulge this information to Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, AICN, CHUD, Heat Vision, The Wrap, but to News of the World?
I think it would be so foolish for WB to just let him go right away. I mean, let's look at the fact:i hope they at least take br as backup. not disqualify him right away.
You forgot to include that he is still pretty much the face of Superman. His image is still used somewhat for Superman even DC artist use him as well.I think it would be so foolish for WB to just let him go right away. I mean, let's look at the fact:
1) It took FOREVER to cast Superman the first time around. Think of how many actors, direcors, and years went by between Reeve and Routh!
2) Routh seems to have unanimous support from the online entertainment journalism community. Additionally, actual filmmakers have already come out saying that Routh should get the part back, particularly Edgar Wright.
3) Getting the part BACK. Routh isn't auditioning for some new role here. He's taking BACK what's rightfully his. He won it the first time around, and he's established himself (at least visually) as the "Superman of Today."
Let the man have his role back!

I think that's also because Brandon REALLY resembles the character from the comicbooks. He also looks so much like the Birthright and Byrne Superman. He's got such a great classic look.
BTW, I love that image of Supes. Would you be so kind to post a link of it please?QUOTE]
YEAH! Ultimate Superman, where did you get that avvy? That pic is awesome!
