The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb to return?

Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman

Iconic characters that need no introduction

Green Lantern - Has had a Major movie (regardless of how it performed)
Flash - General audience will have a passing knowledge
Aquaman - Passing knowledge
Martian Manhunter - No clue who he is

so at WORST the general audience will go into the movie knowing 50% of the JL lineup. There is ZERO need to build up individual characters before the JL movie. I think a 2015 release date is realistic. That gives them 2 and half years to complete a complex ensemble movie.

Wonder Woman and Flash are hugely known characters, but not Martian Manhunter. But he too will be accepted because he'll be amongst popular comic book characters.

WW is but I don't think Flash is, my ex girlfirend (no knowledge of the comics at all) had no idea who Green Lantern was (before the movie) and no idea who Flash was either.
Think abou it, other than the SuperFriends and the Flash TV series (in the 90's no less) where would she have exposure to these characters?

Yes, Warner Bros. can release a Justice League film, people know these characters much better than they do The Avengers characters. You don't need to introduce all of them in separate films.
You would have to introduce separate solo films to establish a cinematic universe, and have more character development.

Trust me, you're over thinking this. People will instantly accept all the characters of the Justice League, simply because they are far more well known. Through hit cartoons, TV shows, etc., they're house-hold names, no one will question how they came to be, unless the movie itself is weak. I see The Justice League showing Marvel how it's really done, by not making the movie for kids, 80% action and every other scene made for sh--s and giggles.

Who's actually involved with this film, is Nolan a producer of Justice League?

You have to remember though the cartoon almost never showed them unmasked. I agree Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are iconic, but most people don't know Wonder Woman's background.

DC does not have a good track record with these films. Honestly Nolan is overrated and pretentious. The Batman films are great and all of his movies are very smartly done, but he's hindered by this belief he seems to have that he is the end all director, when he's far from perfect.

I'll agree that yes, it CAN be done by 2015, however I really can't see it being done well without some kind of a test drive. A couple solo films to feel out how these characters translate to the big screen.

Even if these movies aren't related in a cinematic universe, I still think they should get solo films. Cinematic universes have the problem of not being able to reboot, without destroying the entire continuity, and having constraints of the other related films, I would be fine with there being none. However this is going to be bad without films to establish the heroes on the big screen first.

No you don't.
If the Avengers did not have the solo films, we would have had a movie full of characters that nobody knew about.

Even if people generally know Batman or Superman, its really from the movies. There are different incarnations of the characters, and audiences have to understand what these specific versions are like. We don't want a team up movie that is all about introducing us to several different superheroes in one movie.

Warner wanted a JL film for years ago. They even had hired some actors already. It went nowhere, and that was clearly a movie to cash in some bucks. They didn't seem to really be caring about who they were casting to play their heroes. Now that Marvel showed how it is done and made the third biggest box office, they almost immediately confirmed that they'll do it too and try the same success.

I see the same thing happening once again. I will believe in a JL movie when I see it on theaters, and if it's so soon, I don't think it will be very good and done with the same care as The Avengers was.

Since the new Superman movie will be stand-alone and not lead into a JLA film, it will be a while before it happens. The Green Lantern movie is also holding this project back a whole lot since that could have been the first movie in the DC cinematic universe. Obviously that didn't work out too well.

In order to establish a DC cinematic universe, they need to reboot Batman, and finish this new Superman franchise. I assume Batman would be rebooted in about 4-5 years since they are already working on it, and this Superman franchise would probably have to be completed. So maybe in about 10 years, give or take, there will be a JLA film?

I think you really need a cinematic universe if you're going to have solo films too. I mean theres just too much confusion without it.

If the Avengers did not have the solo films, we would have had a movie full of characters that nobody knew about.

But we did get a movie where we had a whole new Hulk once more and Hawkeye.

The perfect example of how a Justice League film can be without doing solo movies first is the three episode premiere of Justice League("Secret Origins") and Justice League: The New Frontier.

1.) Have the characters that are the eyes of the audience(Green Lantern and Flash) and give us their backstory and how they became such "buddy cops" as they are now(giving them a perfect relationship as they have in the comics).

2.) Bring in some alien invasion where Martian Manhunter is trying to prevent it and he gets into the forefront.

3.) While trying to fight back this invasion, MM calls on three superheroes who have been giving these "legend" titles(Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman).

4.) Move on with solo film for those legends and maybe wait a while for Green Lantern and Flash(especially GL to get the Reynolds movie out of our minds). Martian Manhunter could do without solo films, imo.

I like the idea of making solo films for characters for the first time after the JLA movie :)

But yeah, not each character NEEDS a solo movie, especially Superman. Batman might require one to show that this new version is different the Nolan version.

There is a new rumor now that Les Wiseman is to direct the sequel.

Hits - Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, Live Free or Die Hard

Misses - Total Recall(apparently).

Don't know how I feel about this though.

I have only seen the first Underworld, but the general consensus regarding his filmography seems to be that of "flashy dreck".

I liked Total Recall...
it was fun. I liked it aswell. If hes directing,Its gonna have great action and a solid flow. Len can direct some badass chase scenes. I like his camera work.

Not that I really care about rotten tomatoes, but its highest rated movie is 31% positive. I never really cared for those movies to be honest.

Also, where did this rumor of Les Wiseman being a candidate for new director come from?

That Cosmic Book News site. The same site I acknowledge in the first post on this thread. I don't personally believe it. CBN is just rumors and guesses. They never have any real news until someone else reports it.

In that case, I don't consider this news until Sony officially announces it. Didn't the CBM site say that sony executives hate TASM and told everyone this?

Yes, but CBM is Comic Book Movie. CBN is Cosmic Book News.

Still, I didn't post the rumor of Les Wiseman because I thought it was true.
