The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb to return?

We ought to know soon right? I imagine filming will start early 2013 for a 2014 release.
I assume they will resolve the issue of finding a director by Fall 2012. The script is still being written, but they have to make sure they get a director that can fully understand the script, and the intended direction of the franchise. If Sony can get Webb back, that would be wonderful. Hopefully they can. If not, its not a big deal. It could be an opportunity to get a more experienced director actually. I hope that they avoid Michael Bay.

Lets take a look at The Amazing Spider-Man. Summer of 2011, we first got a teaser trailer attached to Captain America. The movie came out July 3rd, the next summer. TASM2 comes out May 2014. So we will probably get a teaser trailer sometime next Spring, maybe in March or April?

Filming would have to start when, like Fall 2013?

Filming would start early 2013. Iron Man 3 started filming back in April-May 2012, that comes out May 2013.

Congratulations, you still don't understand that one shouldn't leave so many storylines open when there is never going to be a 100% confirmation of a sequel being made

That's the biggest different than any trilogy we have scene; none of them keep so many things untouched as TAS-M has.
There is a 100% confirmation of a sequel, where the hell have you been? Sony ain't giving up those movie rights to Marvel. I suppose you're still going to be telling yourself this when you're watching ASM2 in theaters in May of 2014.

When do you think we would get our first teaser trailer for the movie?

I know. We ought to know soon if he's coming back since filming will start May 2013.

Shouldn't it start earlier than that though?

There is never 100% confirmation for a movie until they start production.

Next year's Comic Con.

I guess the earliest it would start is April.
Waiting another year for just a teaser trailer? My head is hurting just thinking about the wait. I will have to do some comic book reading to hold me off until then.

I also like having little milestones to hold us off until the movie comes out. First we find out who is directing the next movie. Then we get some news, like who are the confirmed villains. Then some of the casting, such as Norman Osborn, Jameson, Harry Osborn, and of course Mary Jane. They will probably be rumors or unconfirmed in the beginning, kind of like how we thought Van Adder would be in TASM, but instead became Dr. Ratha, or how Billy Connors was cast but was taken out.

After this we will start getting concept art for the villains, possibly a slightly changed costume, etc. Cross our fingers that we don't get Ultimate Green Goblin.

Sony has no choice but to make sequels, if not, they lose the movie rights to Marvel/Disney, what part of that isn't computing for you?

Gee, that didn't sound rude. When it comes to movies, many things can get in the way. Remember when we were told Spider-Man 4 was happening? And then how we would get Spider-Man 5 & 6? That plan didn't last too long now did it?

Sony also seems like a studio that doesn't make the smartest decisions. They made Total Recall with a budget of about $200 million, and knew that it wouldn't profit that much. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they are scrapping TASM2 and decide to reboot it again.

true but they will do another spiderman in the future for sure

Yeah, I remember that, I thanked Baby Jesus.

But they're not rebooting the reboot, ASM2 is official, like it or not.

The thing I like about Spider-Man being made by Sony is it does guarantee that we will always be getting Spider-Man movies. However, it also raises the chances of the movies being lower quality. If they keep releasing more movies, and constantly rebooting it, audiences will get tired of them and the box office results will get lower and lower. Unless Marvel gets the film rights back within the next five or six years, by the time they obtain them (if ever), there would be less profit in Spider-Man movies.

There is one problem I have with Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man being part of the MCU if Sony did a deal with Marvel. If Sony ever did a deal with Marvel to connect Andrew to the MCU/Avengers, and Marvel got the film rights back, they would have to keep this version of Spider-Man for the sake of continuity.

Well they better make TASM2 well. That movie will make or break this franchise. If the sequel fails, hopefully they cancel TASM3 and either start from scratch or give the rights to Marvel.

I'm going to need to pray to Baby Jesus, again, so that this doesn't happen.

And that's your reasoning that a sequel is already confirmed? There are way too many factors than just Sony not wanting to let the rights go. I thought you were at least smart enough to realize this.

I suppose you're still going to be telling yourself this when you're watching ASM2 in theaters in May of 2014.

At least in the top ten of the dumbest things you've said.

Okay, everyone take a chill pill and calm down. The last two pages were basically needless snark with you guys, so stop it.

yeah like jan 2013 you have to allow for post production may would be too late for a may 2014 release date.

Just because Webb doesn't come back doesn't mean it will fall apart. Since this movie was the first of a trilogy, and just a setup film, Webb hasn't really put a stamp on the franchise, labeling it to be his. As long as they get a good director who understands what the franchise is going for, it will be fine.
