The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb to return?

They should just let Marc do a Nolan and make a non-Spider-Man movie between each sequel.

He won't be able to do it now though.

If they'd let him do TAS-M 2, then a FOX film, then TAS-M 3 and then another FOX film, that would work.

Well, while not a great situation, the silver lining is knowing that it wasn't a fake story. That Sony really does want Webb to return however, do to all the red tape, it's becoming quite a mess.

Yeah, something like that would work fine. FOX should just be patient. There are plenty of fish in the sea.

Why don't SONY just buy out his (Webb's) movie commitment with FOX, freeing him from the contract?

Rumors have it that Sony is on the verge of bankruptcy...and I don't think Sony wants to spend THAT much money on Marc. It's not like The Amazing Spider-Man made a billion dollars.

No but if they do the marketing right it has potential to with the sequel, look at the figures of Begins and Dark Knight for example. It was far from a failure.

Looks like Fox finds away to ruin everything don't they?

I never said the sequel couldn't. All I was saying was that Marc Webb isn't a high priority director for the sequel because he really didn't do anything special for Sony.

Marc Webb successfully rebooted the studio's most prized property and set up a viable cinematic universe for future films that by and large most people want to see. Even a large percentage of people who have issues with the retelling of the origins say the acting in TAS was superb and they're looking forward to future chapters. Oh, and he made a fantastic movie imo, the highest grossing one (domestic and worldwide) for a cbm reboot, more than Superman or Batman.

So yeah, I think he did something rather special. And bringing just another director in to pick up where he left off will almost certainly result in inconsistency of tone, level of acting and storytelling and would likely result in something much less in quality than letting Webb finish telling his vision. Especially the death of Gwen, which he's perfectly suited to tell. If he isn't a high priority for Sony, he damn well should be.

I beg you, this franchise has JUST STARTED dont **** it up. **** you Fox (Mind my language please)

i suppose it depends just how much Webb wants to make another spidey film

I think that would be ideal.
I'm afraid Fox will ask for him to make 3 movies if he returns for TASM3.

Yea, if Webb can direct his first Fox film inbetween TASM2 and TASM3, that would be good.

So, that would set TASM3 to release in 2018 maybe..

(Also, I dunno, Marc Webb may have to direct Jesus Christ Superstar, but I don't know how long a musical movie actually takes to direct)

You speak the truth sir. This franchise needs Webb. Spider-Man needs a director who FINALLY can make great Spidey films and now that we have one, FOX wants to **** it up! Damn you FOX!

Two reasons why he shouldn't have directed Spider-Man. Movies filled with over-the-top cheese and hokey ass acting to boot. And he ended up spreading that cheese throughout the entire trilogy.

Sad, but true! At least we finally have this reboot now. :)

Where was there hokey acting outside of Spider-Man 3? The first two movies were great and honestly I'd like to see you do better.

It really seems to me like the only thing people on this board remember from the Raimi trilogy is the third installment.

How old are you? I can't take people who say things like that seriously, for obvious reasons.

I can't take people that attack things, because they prefer something else seriously at for obvious reasons as well. When people say those movies are "bad" can get away with SM3, and maybe saying SM1 had it's problems but thats about it. It annoys me seeing people who act like these movies are the same quality as Batman Forever. Tobey was a fine Peter Parker, you just hate him because you never got a George Clooney!

I actually think that SM2 has it's fair share of problems too.

such as? no it doesn't follow the comics directly but it functions just fine as a movie. it wasn't anything like the schumacher batman films or ghost rider.

Well, the relationship between Peter and MJ made it seem like they were still in High school. I always thought that SM2 was pretty good because it was the Raimi movie that actually made Peter look smart, but after watching it again I feel like a lot of the scientific talk was pretty hokey..

I don't even understand why Peter was loosing his powers because "he didn't feel like being Spider-Man".

It, like any movie, has problems.

I don't really understand Fox's problem, I mean, having Webb's name on one of the biggest superhero properties in the world would only improve the movie's revenue and success, with people recognising his name. That could only do good for Fox's prospects, so what the hell are they doing trying to stop him?

I don't think they're trying to stop him, I think that they actually do want to get a deal to have him direct more movies for them.
