They should just let Marc do a Nolan and make a non-Spider-Man movie between each sequel.
He won't be able to do it now though.
If they'd let him do TAS-M 2, then a FOX film, then TAS-M 3 and then another FOX film, that would work.

Rumors have it that Sony is on the verge of bankruptcy...and I don't think Sony wants to spend THAT much money on Marc. It's not like The Amazing Spider-Man made a billion dollars.

No but if they do the marketing right it has potential to with the sequel, look at the figures of Begins and Dark Knight for example. It was far from a failure.
I never said the sequel couldn't. All I was saying was that Marc Webb isn't a high priority director for the sequel because he really didn't do anything special for Sony.
I think that would be ideal. He won't be able to do it now though.

Marc Webb successfully rebooted the studio's most prized property and set up a viable cinematic universe for future films that by and large most people want to see. Even a large percentage of people who have issues with the retelling of the origins say the acting in TAS was superb and they're looking forward to future chapters. Oh, and he made a fantastic movie imo, the highest grossing one (domestic and worldwide) for a cbm reboot, more than Superman or Batman.
So yeah, I think he did something rather special. And bringing just another director in to pick up where he left off will almost certainly result in inconsistency of tone, level of acting and storytelling and would likely result in something much less in quality than letting Webb finish telling his vision. Especially the death of Gwen, which he's perfectly suited to tell. If he isn't a high priority for Sony, he damn well should be.

Where was there hokey acting outside of Spider-Man 3? The first two movies were great and honestly I'd like to see you do better.
It really seems to me like the only thing people on this board remember from the Raimi trilogy is the third installment.
Sad, but true! At least we finally have this reboot now.
How old are you? I can't take people who say things like that seriously, for obvious reasons.
I actually think that SM2 has it's fair share of problems too.
