The best part was probably when Marc Webb made (500) Days of Summer.

Marc Webb was hired for the Spiderman reboot, because he directed 500 Days of Summer. The execs were impressed with the movie and assume Webb has a certain knack portraying young couples on film. Thus, may translate well with the new Spiderman movie.

Since women are usually pigeonholed into doing romantic comedies. I was just wandering. What if a woman had actually directed 500 Days of Summer? If so would Sony hire a female director for a big comic book movie?

The closest to that I guess was Punisher War Zone, which was directed by what's-her-name. But that wasn't a "big movie".

Oh yeah! I forgot about Punisher War Zone, which was directed by a woman Lexi Alexander. She had some creative differences with the studio, but she said something about being happy with the final result.

Whoa I didn’t know she was offered a chance to direct Spiderman. I wish she didn’t turn it down, because if the reboot is successful it may open doors for more female directors being hired to helm big budget movies.

She would have probably did a solid job. But I don't think she would have liked being told what she can and cannot do. Some directors view making movies as art, and they don't want you screwing around with their paint brush, paint and canvas.

He's done two interviews that mentioned Spidey, tops. You can't blame him, though. He's super busy with this movie.

Costumes rarely have anything to do with the final product of a film. Look at Spider-Man 3 and The Dark Knight. Spider-Man 3=Great suit, poor movie. The Dark Knight=Poor suit, great movie.

^^ Is the costume really that bad for some people? I know anybody is entitled with their opinion, but more and more i felt like I'm the only one who love the costume in the forums..
