Lintz is so young that it will will be ridiculous to cast him.
The kid along with Judah and Plummer are the truly horrible fits.
I don't know how you lost the eyes to see that none on them belong in the final list from 1500 actors.

but somehow they made it to the final list.

So Marvel/Sony saw something in them to be interested.

They're ON the list therefore they're Great fits for the role, you don't have have better judgement than Feige & Pascal. End. Of. Story.

Wow, still nothing.

I'm officially starting to get a little angry now. It shouldn't take this long. The deal was secretly made well before February 9th, there is no way they should still be in the casting process.

It seems like the hold-up is possibly that Sony wants Asa in the role due to his name recognition and established star-power, while Marvel wants Tom likely more for being in line with their vision of Spidey.

Well guys, I just found this on the official Marvel Instagram. Looks like Matt Lintz got the role...... The screenshot and description are both in the spoiler tag:

Lintz is in the final four? lol.

He must be shockingly good if a prepubescent ginger kid is in the top contenders for Spider-Man.

 When did this come about? Or are you just guessing?

That's not necessarily true, actually. If they were on the final shortlist it means Marvel / Sony is interested in them. The screen-test is to test whether they are right for the role.

The fact Lintz is on there suggests Marvel and Sony think he may do a good job, but Deadline doesn't say he's a frontrunner - just that he gave a good screen-test.

but does Asa really have much name recognition and established star power?

Since that list came out I always said it would come down to Butterfield, Holland, or Rowe.

I'm sticking with that. Those 3 have my vote, would be glad with any of them.

Is it true that Plummer is out?
Are you angry because of that?

I mean, he was your number one fav and you promised to always support him. You were so certain that he would get the role.

If Plummer and also Judah are out, that only strenghten my view on the matter. They. Did. Not. Belong. In. The. Finals.

Next person out will be Lintz. Mark my words.

The fact that they were even on the list in the first place is a joke.

Yeah, I'm almost certain it'll be between Asa, Charlie and Tom.

Yeah, I'm almost certain it'll be between Asa, Charlie and Tom.

and Charlie and Tom seem to be competing with each other, since they seem more similar compared to Asa.

but I'd say Charlie and Tom fit the vision Marvel has set forth, moreso than Asa.

Yeah, they weren't among the absolute best out of 1500 actors. To believe that is actually silly when there's soooo many talented actors out there.

Since Judah, Plummer and Lintz were included, I said that the real competition was between the other three (Rowe/Asa/Tom)... NOT the kids!!!

I'm pretty sure most of you don't want Plummer because he has blonde hair.

Holland's been my favourite since the start of all this shortlist stuff, but I wouldn't mind if Asa or Plummer got it. I would be slightly disappointed that they got it over Holland though. I'm pretty indifferent to Rowe. Lintz or Lewis? Nah.

Ahh, the signature changes yet again. Beautiful.

I'm surprised the young kids made it to the final list, too.

but as I said in an earlier post, it almost feels like Marvel/Sony are "trying out" 3 different versions of Peter to see which would fit best with what they want.

a very young, "smaller" Peter with Lintz, Judah, and Plummer.

A taller, lankier Peter with Asa with a less than traditional "look."

and a more traditional looking, average size Peter with Tom and Charlie.

you could maybe have grouped Plummer with Tom and Charlie.

but still, it's like 3 wildly different versions of what Peter could look like.

I think the 14-16 year olds we're brought in just to see if they could miraculously find some young teen prodigy, but from the looks of it, they couldn't find that kid (Unless Lintz) and are looking to play it safe with a slightly older actor.

Just cast O'Brien and be done with it... Sheesh! :o

 When did this come about? Or are you just guessing?

It's speculation on mine and Talion's part, based on the info from the Deadline article, as well as the one from Devin Faraci. It seems that Asa and Tom are still the frontrunners, while Rowe and Matt also left good impressions at the auditions (aka they're probably back-up).

Plus according to Faraci, Asa's reportedly been saying behind-the-scenes that he's already got the role, despite the fact that he just had to fly in for another audition against other actors. Faraci's guess is that someone from either Sony or Marvel told Asa that he was their guy and the other side doesn't exactly agree.

And they didn't think Plummer was a good fit. So there goes this:

if Asa's blabbing like that, shouldn't that be held against him, like Plummer tweeting? :cwink:

anyways, if that is indeed the case, it would be interesting to hear the behind the scenes negotiations.

hopefully, the side that doesn't want Asa will win it! :woot:
