Dr. Doom is the quintessential Marvel villain that has been repeatedly beset by poor live-action adaptations in the past. You can't blame anyone for not being instantly thrilled by an odd decision like casting the guy known for playing Iron Man. Especially as there was hope that Victor would finally be done right following Marvel getting the film rights back.

Who says he wouldn't be done right?

Marvel is punting the real Doom and X-men down the field to do things properly.

Lol yeah I don’t know if I agree with the rationale that a “real” Doom is incoming. Why would MCU shoot themselves in the foot by introducing RDJ only to swap him out down the road

The truth is it doesn't matter if they try and fix this later on. This IS our massive Dr Doom crossover story. Regardless if they bring in a new one later. They brought the REAL Mandarin into Shang-Chi. But that doesn't change that our lasting battle of Iron Man vs Mandarin was Iron Man 3 cause we won't see an Iron Man film where he faces Wenwu. Same here. It doesn't matter what they do later.

I dont think it's through the roof. Sure this announcement got attention, but I don't think it's good attention. Plenty of people not feeling this move. Which is bad timing since D&W has been getting lots of great buzz.
