Marvel Films Marvel Studios’ SDCC 2024 Hall H Panel - Predictions & Discussion Thread

My top 5 recasting choices for Kang if they had gone that route:

1. Colman Domingo
2. David Oyelowo
3. JD Washington
4. John Boyega
5. Omar Sy (would be a darkhorse pick for me)

Colman Domingo would be an awesome Kang. I love him in Fear The Walking Dead.

Between the multiverse being the last opportunity to bring back RDJ and losing Kang because of TMZ drama, Marvel Studios is making lemonade from lemons.

This is why Hugh will always be the Live Action Marvel GOAT, he is and always will be Wolverine

To me, this just cheapens Downey’s time as Stark. I don’t care how good the take or the story is, give another worthy actor the chance to do something special with Doom, the same way he did with Iron Man. But at the end of the day, marvel needed something to get the people talking. I guess this is what they settled on.

Tastes more like urine to me
That's liquid gold. :hehe:

People were against Hugh Jackman returning as a variant.

But Deadpool and Wolverine is smashing records. Turns out audiences were not done with Hugh as Logan.

RDJ is peak MCU. He's the 3 billion dollar man. And this is the perfect time to bring him back. Kang left a void so big it required something miraculous to save Avengers 5 and 6.

They could have recast Kang. I had said that my top choice was Colman Domingo.

Yeah , I'm not digging it as much as I like the idea of RDJ being back .

It feels desperate.

I mean, I get the idea of their greatest nemesis looking like their dearest friend, and I could see what it would mean to Peter , being one of the lead characters, but it's still lame to me.

I can see this is gonna be one of those polarizing topics in fandom.

Tell me a better way to win back the audience lost since Endgame.

You have less than 2 years.

I am sure the movie is going to make money. That's not my issue. Also they didn't bring Hugh Jackman back to play like the Mole Man or something. He was playing a variant of the character everyone loved. They didn't like make Wolverine into Dragon Man. This is just 100% dumb

So glad they didn’t recast Kang; what a thankless role for another actor of color to step into.

I will take this challenge: Avengers vs X-Men. That's one idea. Maybe do Secret Wars with The Beyonder and cast someone like Denzel Washington or a huge name to play him. Making RDJ Doctor Doom is just crap

Denzel has always been my top choice to play MCU Norman Osborn.

It will take longer than 2 years to plan out Avengers vs X-men.

Plus doing Avengers vs X-men before an X-men series is putting the cart before the horse like BvS.

No it wouldn't. Make it a multiverse event with the Fox ones. Then you get that nostalgia hit at the same time. Better then reanimating Stark's dead corpse into Doctor Doom

He has a lot of variants. They could say that the Kang that was defeated in Ant Man was a variant. That can be retconned.
But any variant being defeated by Ant-Man is anticlimactic.

He no longer seems like that big of a threat.

Avengers 5 and 6 have been hyped up since they were announced and even after the whole Jonathan Major drama, it never really died. It didn't need RDJ as Doom to sell that. The idea of all these past Marvel characters getting together in a movie would've sold these movies in an instant. It would've blown Endgame out of the water.

So you're betting the X-men actors will all be available immediately.

No contracted obligations?

Lol they didn’t need to plan it over the weekend. I’m sure they could have gotten literally all of the Fox actors back.

Given they would probably film the Avengers 2 parts over the course of the entire year, I am sure you could find the 6 weeks here, 2 months here, etc to do it. Covid didn't stop them from shooting actors on availability and inserting them in when needed. Again, much better than reanimating Stark's dead corpse into Doctor Doom
