Yes, this aspect I truly love. It also makes it feel like the comics with minor supporting characters appearing in different books.I hope so, Sam Rockwell is ace and has been so underutilized in the MCU.
I really love that these Disney+ series gives them the opportunity to flesh out these characters like Darcy Lewis, Jimmy Woo etc. I am here all day for it.
This is the kind of thing that could really boost this show. I’d love it if Rhodey got to be the star character in amongst all that chaos. With a title like "Armor Wars", hopefully this show blows its load in regards to villains. For such a big character, Tony doesn't have the best rogues gallery in comics IMO, but having a lot of them in this show and making them cooler/better than their comic counterparts could improve the perception of his rogues gallery.
The concept of suits that specialize in different abilities is something the films never explored for some reason aside from Whiplash and Tony's own suits in Iron Man 3. I'd love to see Controller (reimagine his powers to tie the psychic abilities to the suit somehow), Melter, Living Laser (again, tie his powers to his suit), Spymaster, Whirlwind (a villain to many Marvel characters, but he fits best here IMO), Unicorn, Titanium Man (take one of the unique elements of his suit and emphasize that), Stingray, Beetle (make him kinda like Wasp with armor and without the shrinking), Vibro and Firepower (David Roberts version, since Jack died in Iron Man 3). They could even make up a few minor ones for this show.
Interesting enough, I just relooked up the Sony Leaks document regarding the characters owned by Sony vs Marvel, and apparently Sony does not have the rights to the Beetle (specifically the Abner Jenkins version). So Marvel has free reign to use him.Beetle was part of the original Armor Wars storyline and Marvel will hopefully work out a deal with Sony to introduce him here since he's a key Thunderbolt.

I can't see them using most of these characters, honestly. Leader is a possibility but doesn't feel like a team player. They won't use Shocker or Scorpion due to having to negotiate with Sony over such appearances. I can't see them using Marvel Television characters like Bullseye, Blizzard, Hellcat, etc. either. There's no precedent and almost nobody is going to remember a character like Blizzard, plus Marvel Studios wasn't involved in those characters. If that's the case, they should bring him in ASAP. Armor Wars is the best place to use him since he's a key Thunderbolt.
Also assuming that Zawe Ashton is Moonstone so that just leaves Songbird for Thunderbolts. We already have Baron Zemo, Ghost, Leader, Shocker, Scorpion, Bulleye and Blizzard. Jolt is rumored for Falcon and Winter Soldier and I can see Hellcat joining the MCU version of the team even though she wasn't a member in the comics to take Luke Cage and Hawkeye's place. Abomination can replace Atlas and Juggernaut since Marvel somehow didn't use Atlas in Luke Cage or Ant-Man and weren't able to use Juggernaut yet. (TBH, I'd rather have Juggs as a villain since he's an enemy of the X-Men, Deadpool, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Hulk.)
