Marvel Films Marvel Studios' Armor Wars (aka A War Machine Story)

The death of all the avengers is going to play a substabtial role in every series. Stark, Natasha, T'Challa and Steve.

I'm sure we won't have a series or film for this year that won't reference atleast one of these characters.

Regardless, superhyped writing starts soon. We have a long way to go, but this is easily my most hyped series along with She Hulk. Pulling off the first few couple with WandaVision and FaTWS.

Thats the easy part. After that they have to start the real likely CGI heavier series. Its possible given the abundance in liveaction comicbook tv these days.

But still, on the scale of stories like Armors Wars it's obviously to be a bit to wonder about.

I'm hoping they go all out with this series. I wanna see the 150 million dollars on the screen.
Because I def have doubts of the show being granted a second season.

I'm wondering how they'll do it because I believe Cheadle is due to start filming season 3 of Black Monday though he mentioned they might get filming started within a few months right? Probably get as much of BM done as possible before starting this.

i hope Rhodes gets to use Model 39 armor in this show the design is so cool looking but i still love big bulky powerful look and fill of the War machine armor

Roger Wardell said a couple of years ago that Marvel had big plans for Zemo, Abomination, and Justin Hammer.
Zemo and Abomination have already been announced for "Falcon & Winter Soldier" and "She-Hulk" respectively, so I guess this is the one where they'll use Hammer.

I hope so, Sam Rockwell is ace and has been so underutilized in the MCU.

I really love that these Disney+ series gives them the opportunity to flesh out these characters like Darcy Lewis, Jimmy Woo etc. I am here all day for it.

Yeah, Hammer would work great in a return appearance. In Iron Man 2 in the senate hearing Tony estimated that Hammer and other groups in other countries were 5 to 10 years away from creating a functional iron man-like suit (though clearly Vanko was the exception). We are now beyond those estimated 10 years so it makes sense similar tech would be recreated by now by several parties. For Hammer Industries I expect them to unveil the Detroit Steel armor.

Count me in as another person that want's to see Sam Rockwell again. Also I want like a proper B-list Iron Man villain showing up in this show. Don't care who it is...Crimson Dynamo, Titanium Man, Spymaster. One of those guys.

So yeah there's a couple of things I'd like to see.
I expect people like Crimson Dynamo and/or Titanium Man to be major villains.
I'd like to see some kind of involvement of Justin Hammer, possibly bringing Detroit Steel
I'd like to see Stilt-Man as an armored villain with a unique gimmick
I'd like to see Beetle in a way that also sets them up for Thunderbolts

I think it may also be interesting to have Yinsen's daughter show up. I always found Toni Ho to be a much better "young woman of color who may follow in Tony's footsteps" candidate than Riri personally (probably has something to do with how it seems Riri was more created from higher up out of the desire to create the next Iron Man from a marketing perspective while Toni was created by a writer to fill a role in a story). Now we may not get that in the MCU (or the comics) but I still think there's story potential there for including such a character. Though I'd probably rename her to "[insert Afghan girl's name] Toni Yinsen" given her fathers different ethnicity in the MCU. Might also give a different perspective to Tony and Rhodey operating in the middle east and doing one-man military interventions in the Iron Man movies.

Is Sam Rockwell coming back as Justin Hammer? Since Hammer Industries was a huge part of the Original Armor War comic story line? With Crimson Dynamo, Iron Monger, Ultimo, Titanium Man etc..

I gotta figure Rockwell will return. It's up to Marvel to sell the hell out of this series and rev up demand to see WAR MACHINE both dramatically and in a kick-ass-esque potential.

It's really only been in Iron Man 2 or Infinity War in which we saw him go all OUT with his capabilities.

I was glad we saw him working with the others and not just Stark in the last two films though I wish we could have got a longer scene of just the two of them before his death.

When it comes to villains, I feel like Zeke Stane, Madame Masque and Living Laser are too personal to Tony Stark and I'd like them saved for after Tony gets recast.

As for Rhodey (who'll likely become the new Iron Man for a few years), I'd be open for Mandarin, Crimson Dynamo, Termite, Locomotive Breath, Mauler and Titanium Man since they're villains who Rhodey has a history with in the comics. If Willem DeFoe is returning as Green Goblin in Spider-Man 3, then I can also see him appearing. We know that Justin Hammer is coming back. Beetle was part of the original Armor Wars storyline and Marvel will hopefully work out a deal with Sony to introduce him here since he's a key Thunderbolt.

And Season 2 better adapt The Dragon Seed Saga which is my favorite War Machine story.

Yes, this aspect I truly love. It also makes it feel like the comics with minor supporting characters appearing in different books.

Armor Wars villain spam ideas (since the original story was villain spam)

Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) Masterminds everything. Turns his Hammer Drones into Project FIrepower. Dies. Sister Justine takes over his company.

Ghost (Hannah John Kamen) Returns to the MCU after being hired by Justin Hammer to steal a bunch of Stark Tech. Winds up sent to The Raft

Blizzard (Dylan Minnette) returns from Agents of Shield as somebody who got his hands on Stark Tech that he can use to enhance his powers. Also ends up on The Raft.

And for new villains
Mauler (Rory McCann) An old friend of Rhodey's who ends up being the biggest recurring threat. Lost his son when he died an in accident after being unsnapped. Dies.

Abe Jenkins (John David Washington) An ex-Stark engineer who builds an insect-like suit of powered armor. Winds up on The Raft.

Termite (???) Mutant who enhances his power with Stark Tech. Dies.

Locomotive Breath (???) Builds himself a suit of nearly invincible armor using Stark Tech. Dies.

Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man (???) Built by the Russian government using stolen designs. Dfeating them costs Rhodey his place on the Avengers under the Sokovia Accords and makes him a wanted man. CD and TM both survive but are badly injured.

Doctor Doom (Whoever plays him in Black Panther 2) Rhodey thinks he's using stolen Stark designs when he actually isn't. Survives.

And Rhodey will wind up finding Tony Stark's lost suit of armor which was intended for him and become Iron Man at the end. Season 2 is simply titled, "Iron Man" and will show a fugitive Jim Rhodes in Hong Kong fighting Mandarin and Fin Fang Foom.

I want Stilt Man in this. He featured in the original Armor Wars and would look a great visual on film. But Marvel need to start introducing some of the armoured villains in other shows or films first so they don't look like they were just created for this show to get trashed or neutralized by Rhodes.

With a title like "Armor Wars", hopefully this show blows its load in regards to villains. For such a big character, Tony doesn't have the best rogues gallery in comics IMO, but having a lot of them in this show and making them cooler/better than their comic counterparts could improve the perception of his rogues gallery.

The concept of suits that specialize in different abilities is something the films never explored for some reason aside from Whiplash and Tony's own suits in Iron Man 3. I'd love to see Controller (reimagine his powers to tie the psychic abilities to the suit somehow), Melter, Living Laser (again, tie his powers to his suit), Spymaster, Whirlwind (a villain to many Marvel characters, but he fits best here IMO), Unicorn, Titanium Man (take one of the unique elements of his suit and emphasize that), Stingray, Beetle (make him kinda like Wasp with armor and without the shrinking), Vibro and Firepower (David Roberts version, since Jack died in Iron Man 3). They could even make up a few minor ones for this show.

Any recent news? Please tell me this show is gonna have a huge budget. I don't want it cutting corners like Altered Carbon Season 2 did.

This is the kind of thing that could really boost this show. I’d love it if Rhodey got to be the star character in amongst all that chaos.

Beetle was part of the original Armor Wars storyline and Marvel will hopefully work out a deal with Sony to introduce him here since he's a key Thunderbolt.
Interesting enough, I just relooked up the Sony Leaks document regarding the characters owned by Sony vs Marvel, and apparently Sony does not have the rights to the Beetle (specifically the Abner Jenkins version). So Marvel has free reign to use him.

If that's the case, they should bring him in ASAP. Armor Wars is the best place to use him since he's a key Thunderbolt.

Also assuming that Zawe Ashton is Moonstone so that just leaves Songbird for Thunderbolts. We already have Baron Zemo, Ghost, Leader, Shocker, Scorpion, Bulleye and Blizzard. Jolt is rumored for Falcon and Winter Soldier and I can see Hellcat joining the MCU version of the team even though she wasn't a member in the comics to take Luke Cage and Hawkeye's place. Abomination can replace Atlas and Juggernaut since Marvel somehow didn't use Atlas in Luke Cage or Ant-Man and weren't able to use Juggernaut yet. (TBH, I'd rather have Juggs as a villain since he's an enemy of the X-Men, Deadpool, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Hulk.)

I can't see them using most of these characters, honestly. Leader is a possibility but doesn't feel like a team player. They won't use Shocker or Scorpion due to having to negotiate with Sony over such appearances. I can't see them using Marvel Television characters like Bullseye, Blizzard, Hellcat, etc. either. There's no precedent and almost nobody is going to remember a character like Blizzard, plus Marvel Studios wasn't involved in those characters.

I'd say that they'd use Zemo, Ghost and Moonstone assuming that Zawe Ashton is her. Then Beetle in Armor Wars. Songbird is also almost certain to be introduced somewhere. Then the remaining members I imagine would either be original members like Atlas, Fixer, Jolt, etc. introduced across the upcoming phase (say Atlas in Quantumania for example, one in Falcon & The Winter Soldier, maybe one in a court case in She-Hulk, maybe one in Secret Invasion) or they might substitute some members with established Marvel Studios MCU villains like Abomination, Justin Hammer as Detroit Steel, Batroc or any upcoming villain/antihero that may survive such as Taskmaster, Black Widow 2, Red Guardian, Flag-Smasher, U.S.Agent, Death Dealer, Swordsman, Clown, etc.

They can always use the original Blizzard instead, and reboot Bullseye and Hellcat. Hellcat needs a serious reboot anyway as her character was ruined in Jessica Jones.

I prefer to see the Masters of Evil first anyway. It makes you appreciate the Thunderbolts more later on when you realise they were all a team of villains beforehand. Give us the likes of Tiger Shark, Whirlwind, evil Black Knight, etc.
