Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Part 5

Cable has the time travel extremeness going against him. Then they created Rachel, Bishop, and X-Men and hell even Hope based on his ''success".

Gambit screams of trying to create another Wolverine. Bad boy who sometimes is loyal to the X-Men and others is a problem/henderance to them.
Ugh, Rachel was created before Cable. She predates him by several years

Gambit's an awesome character. Id suggest reading him in X-23 as thats the best take on the character in well over a decade. I hated 90s Gambit but the guy rocks now. He and Laura together are one of the best duos in Marvel

None of these characters offer anything that someone already doesn't. Every character who was created in the last 89-late 90's period has either had to have a radical rehaul to continue to be used (how many times has Jubilee been changed since her inception as a character) or has been killed off, fell into the background (What has Gambit done lately except be the third wheel in Mike Carey's Rogue/Magneto fetish?) or had to stop being used (Adam X anyone) because they were just either extremely one note or just stopped being relevant.

The characters of that period and them being focused on was one of the main reasons 90's comic book story telling sucked so bad and why the industry was failing. The stories were not good because they were focusing on terrible characters.
One could argue Psylocke. Technically she was created before the 90s, but the Asian version is essentially like a completely different character than her original British interpretation. The writers only focus exclusively on the badass ninja she became in the 90s even when the oppurtunity presented itself to go back to her roots. And now, she's the top female in the X-world, only second to arguably Emma.

And as far as characters having radical rehauls.....it happens to many characters that have been around for a long time. Look at Beast, Angel, Hank Pym, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, etc... Does that make them awful characters by definition?

The best players of the the MvC series have been mainly from the states.

He's her babysitter. He does just about as much in her book as he does in Legacy. Gambit's a largely unnecessary character who has fallen to the wayside like this because he was awful.

My bad about the Rachel/Cable confusion though. Doesn't change anything. Time travel characters were pretty much the start of a major downfall for the X-Men books.

I'll give you Psylocke and she's the one rare random 90's version of a character I enjoy.

Beast and Angel are founding X-Men. Hank Pym is a founding Avenger. Hawkeye might as well be as he only joined them 2 years after the book was first on the market and Ms. Marvel has Marvel's name sake.

They all have legacys and material that proof them worthy. Gambit, Venom, Cable, X-Man, Rachel, Bishop, Jubilee, Carnage and most of the 90's villains are either directly linked to some of the worst stories for their books or just ultimately don't matter.

Do you guys want to play as Galactus?
I never really found fun to play as a boss character. It might seem cool at first, but most of the time we'll resort to the regular characters.

Do see myself playing him, maybe once and that's it.

Really, Capcom, really? But is it a mode? Or is he in the roster screen? What's the dealio here? If so does that not mean there should be a Capcom rep to make up for his playable ability?

I dont see how he could possibly be fun. At least they say its its own mode and most likely wont be online

he'd be soooo slow :( though.......... galactus vs galactus would be pretty epic

A totally new way to play the game. Add abilities using cards, ala Gems or System Direction. Abilities include Parry, Assist Super Armor, XFactor Blowback, Dizzying Attacks, Projectile Invincibility, Special cancels into Specials, Invisibility, etc. Over 100 cards, equip 3 at once, 1.12 million total combinations.
Mode playable online. Battle online as clans in one-week events. Earn cards playing offline. Mode is free DLC post-launch. Howard the Duck is a card. We'd like to speculate that Vita players will be able to trade cards, since "additional Vita functionality" was teased but not announced.

All DLC shared across PS3, Vita.

Q: DLC characters?
A: No plans now.

Q: Next event/reveal?
A: Before too long.

Q: Is Mega Man poster a troll?
A: Yes.

Q: Why remove blocking during airdashes?
A: Makes zoning more effective. You have to commit to airdashes now.

Q: New endings for old characters?
A: A few have been changed, many are the same.

Q: Is Galactus playable?
A: Yes.

Yeah, I don't really care about the fact that Galactus will be playable.

Gems in this too? What the hell is with Capcom and Gems?

Wait, whoa?!

Parrying has been implemented? That's pretty awesome.

It just sucks that you can't block during a forward air dash anymore. The nerfing of defensive abilities is always a bummer.

People would choose Galactus for the same reason they choose MODOK. Because it would look funny as hell.

So Spidey's new costumes are confirmed.

Original, Symbiote, Iron are still in.
The Black/Green invisible suit, is now Black/Red. (Boooooo.)
FF (Already announced, but still very cool.)
New Armor. (Really, all the choices they go with that? Jesus.)

Are these in addition to the ones he already or are they replacing the old ones? Im guessing the latter based on your comment on the Big Time one. I prefer it red anyway

I fell asleep during the stream. As much as I like James Chen's commentary, I hate Yipes 'Give everything a stupid nickname' style of commentary. So I turned the audio off. Listened to Gervais/Merchant/Pilkington while half-heartedly watching MVC3.

Now I wish I stayed up for that.

Also, most might see Momochi winning SF with Cody being a good thing, but I don't. I've hated fighting against Cody since day one of Super, this coming AE update is only going to make him even more of a pain in the balls.:cmad:

Little disappointed that Nova doesn't have a beam assist (also that he doesn't have Jack Kirby-style energy visuals as rumored), but after taking in all the footage and info, I'm super excited to get him on my team as planned. His Urienesque shield is going to be all kinds of nasty, especially as an assist if I have my opponent in the corner with Wesker. However, I have a feeling his overhead dive kick assist is going to be the dirtiest of all. Easy unblockable set ups mixed with Wesker's teleport? Yes please!

Using up his own red health to add damage to his beam hyper and strengthen his energy shield is pretty cool with me too, as I was already planning to use him as anchor, where with the exception of x-factor, red health is already unrecoverable.
