Marvel vs. Capcom: A Thread of Two Worlds - Part 7

The more I think about it, they should just scrap Infinite and move on to MvC4. Disregard MvCI and give us a more worthy sequel. Go back to 3v3, larger roster with X-men and new art style. More game modes and content like SFV AE but they really need to look at what their competitors are doing with Dragon Ball, Injustice and MK. Capcom also needs to reign back with its predatory DLC tactics bc that has turned gamers off quite a bit. This is just at thought though. I think they screwed themselves out of the license bc unless they had a multigame deal (which is unlikely), Disney is going to go elsewhere next time we see a Marvel fighter.

How awesome would it be if they played nice with WB and we got a Marvel vs DC fighter. That would be huge. They could move on from the Injustice continuity and be more true to the heroes (Wonder Woman and Superman especially) and we'd get a different take on the Marvel fighters with a new engine and gameplay style

There still could be a bit of an issue though. Even if a new Marvel fighter had different developers, it wouldn't matter if Marvel/Disney doesn't back off and let the developers do their jobs. Or at least stop being so petty about which of their characters can be put in. Because the average gamer really isn't gonna care about the issues going on between Marvel and Fox. They'll just look at the game and see that it doesn't have Wolverine or any other X-men and ignore it. Just like they did with Infinite.

the fact that they have the movie licenses back means it’s likely the X-men will be in whatever comes next

So you are saying players don't look at the characters as functions????

I was most disappointed, given the MCU focus and push, that they didn't include Scarlet Witch. :(

I get her X-Men connection might have something to do with it, but she's part of the MCU Avengers, and she would have been a brand new MCU character we hadn't seen before in MvC.

such a shame and missed opportunity, imo.

If they plan on relaunching the game in the future, they should think about revamping it.
Starting with the characters that are back in the Marvel house, like the mutants and Deadpool. Then new and interesting characters from the Capcom side who didn't get a chance yet, like Asura.
MvC3 kind of visuals as an option. Maybe even MvC2's, if that's possible. It's been done in more complicated games where the cel shading and other styles are available so I believe it's not that big of an issue to implement.
The 3vs3 and 1vs1 options would be ideal as well.

They might have screwed up in those points, but I think it's salvagable.

I don't see how they can "relaunch" this game with a totally different artstyle.

if they do that, might as well just start a whole new game and call it Marvel Vs Capcom 4, as others have suggested here.

I guess that would be possible ( though unlikely, imo ), since technically this game was called Infinite and not 4.

and yes, I would LOVE a Marvel V Capcom with the cel-shaded artstyle of DBFZ.

would love a DC fighting game in that artstyle, too. but it looks like DC fighters are stuck with NR and Injustice ( for better and for worse ).

but the only way to salvage this game would be to pull a SF V and keep supporting it with DLC characters ( that the fans are asking for like X-Men and often requested Capcom characters ).

I think the Evo announcement tonight may be the ultimate indication. If they aren't playing it at Evo this year, then the game is a complete failure.

And it won't be at EVO. It's dead, not even the fighting community wants it.

thats what happens when you rush a game out and crap on the fans from the previous game that would have supported it

Umm...so to segway a bit, I literally just bought and installed DBFz...

so I guess the game's dead huh?

such a shame and waste. so many new, unique characters from both Marvel and Capcom, as well as returning fan favorites, that could have been in the game.

but......alas.....no. :(

So much for Infinite being created as a platform, that they can continuously expand on. Well, if that rumor is true.

The only thing I dont like about the rumor is that the additions are largely old characters. We definitely need some of them (oldies from MvC2 that got cut for 3 are welcomed) but if they are going to relaunch, they also need new blood

Also if true and it will come out next year, I really would love for them to bring 3v3 back. Make it a separate mode and cut the stones out if need be but I want that.

Yeah, I don't like it either, but if there's any merit to that rumor, it might be Capcom trying to rely on nostalgia, to get the fanbase to return.

I thought this game was dead......lol.

rumors sound too good to be true, almost like a fan's wish list.

so I'm doubtful.

but we'll see I guess. I'm always up for more MvC.

Technically, it is. I don't think you will be able to upgrade MvC I to this game.

A couple things that make me skeptical of this "leak".

- Only one Street Fighter character being added while adding three Resident Evil characters. I really doubt RE would actually end up with more characters than SF.

- Too many safe choices for both sides. Only four characters that weren't in any vs game beforehand? The majority of the characters listed are ones that were in MVC2. While the lack of X-men characters was a pretty glaring omission, I really doubt they'd add so many and not add at least one that wasn't in any of the previous games.

Grab your tinfoil hats, folks! It's rumor time, and rumor has it that not only is there a Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite update in the works, but it is set to be re-branded as "Marvel vs. Capcom 4."

These latest claims come from none other than prominent video game leaker, Vergeben. Over on Reddit, Vergeben recently shared some new information on the potential future of the currently dormant Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

To preface this, Vergeben has been accurate on a number of different claims, including correctly calling Ridley and Simon Belmont being announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — and when they were going to be revealed — as well as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles being in Injustice 2, which has pretty much become their most famous prediction. Vergeben has had some misses as well, though, so as always with rumors it is best to take what's written here with a grain of salt.

According to Vergeben, an update to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is definitely happening. "No one knows anything substantial," Vergeben wrote in response to a Reddit user. "Believe me. I've been asking around. All that is known is that an update is real and happening. No one has any details that have leaked out regarding what exactly is happening with it or what all characters it will be adding and etc. yet."

They go on to say that the characters who were originally predicted to be in a potential update are the most logical fighters to expect here, though still unconfirmed. Star-Lord, Ms. Marvel, Green Goblin, Wolverine, Cyclops, Psylocke, Magneto, Storm, Deadpool, Doctor Doom, Daredevil, Asura, Lady, Gill, Rashid, Captain Commando, Nina, Deis, Regina, Gene, Vergil, Akuma, and Apollo Justice were all originally listed, though this time Vergeben only mentions Star-Lord, Ms. Marvel, Asura, Gill, Lady, and Rashid / Vergil specifically.

Over the weekend, Vergeben replied to another Reddit user saying that the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite update is in early development and that we likely won't be seeing anything official on it until next year. Both Capcom and Marvel being patient, essentially, as to not ruin the perception of the game again.

Rumor: Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite update is happening, will be re-branded as 'Marvel vs. Capcom 4'

They need to do more then that imo. The biggest problem was the presentation. It just looked ugly, and it had people writing it off very quickly, without playing it.
