Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Hey guys! Remember how everyone here, and at Shoryuken, and GameFAQs were all panicked and constantly talking, talking, talking about Spider-Man for the longest (due to him not being revealed soon enough), he was the most talked about character on either sides, and now...

NO ONE talks about him. NO ONE who has talked about their future teams seem to plan on using him.

Just a funny observation.
I never talked about him. I would've been fine with leaving him out, in fact. Throw his spot to another cool, wacky, out-there choice like Slapstick or the Impossible Man.

Oh wait, I think I did talk about Spider-Man one time to make fun of DACMAN's craziness before they officially announced Spider-Man would be in the game.

When it comes to games like this, whether a character fights or not in their own game doesn't matter. With enough imagination any character can become a playable fighter in games like this.

MvC as a series has thrived on silliness, and Phoenix Wright would fit right in, and he has a fun personality too. If you don't like him, fine, but don't throw out this "he wouldn't have any moves" silliness. By doing this you look as silly as Capcom did when they said the same thing about Mega Man.

The Mega Man thing is sillier, given that not only does Mega Man have combat abilities in his games already (making translating them to MvC3 the issue, not coming up with them), he was in previous incarnations of the game, which makes the translation part even simpler.

With Phoenix Wright, you'd have to come up with a whole set of fighting moves on your own, and make sure it fits his theme. That would require more creativity to do than translating Mega Man or any other character with pre-established combat ability.

It wouldn't be much different than Nintendo having to come up with combat moves for characters like Captain Falcon, ROB, or Peach all of whom had none up to that point. :P

Im not a fan of the dude, not once did i ever use him in MvC2 but the lack of Mega Man is just really, really strange. Does zero really have that much better of a move set?

The people behind the scenes probably just prefer Zero or believe that Zero will test better with audiences. Move sets are 100% a non-issue regardless of what anyone at Capcom says because, aside from the actual fighting game characters who have move sets people know and expect, the move sets for every character in the game are entirely decided by the developers. There are things that guys like Thor and Iron Man should be able to do based on their comic appearances, but the actual move sets are created entirely by the devs. Why would the same not be true of Mega Man or Phoenix Wright or any other character they want to put into the game? The move set argument is just ridiculous and holds absolutely no water with me.

Haven't seen this before.

Zero does have more options. But regardless of the limitations that Mega Man has in his own games, they could easily make him one of the top fighters in the game, with his Mega Buster alone, if they actually wanted to. But unless someone theatens to put Capcom HQ on fire, they don't seem to care.

Wow, I'm surprised Thor is front-and-center. He seemed like the redheaded stepchild of the game in all the other promo art; I got the sense Capcom only included him at Marvel's behest since he's got a movie coming out and he's been repositioned as one of the central pillars of the Marvel comic universe again.

The difference is very slight, but it's still easier to do something when you have something to work from as opposed to doing it from scratch.

Even if from scratch, if you know what the Theme is, it's not that difficult. If you can imagine it, the work's already halfway done.

The original MvC and X-Men: Children of the Atom would've been some sad, sad games if the devs back then were scared of starting from scratch.

hot damn I cant wait to get my grubby paws all over this game tomorrow

decided im gonna get the xbox version as well as the ps3 collectors edition

I just realized I haven't played as Thor yet when I got a chance to play the game so far. Now I'm more excited and the next 12 hour wait is going to suck.

While true, my point still stands. You can take a character like this and give him some moves that work within his theme and he'd work fine...which leads me to:

Some quick move ideas for Phoenix Wright:

*Standard attacks involve using a mixture of slaps/punches/briefcase
*Gavel Throw for long range
*Dragon Punch anti-air type move using the briefcase as a shield/weapon
*Call in Mia Fey as an assist to psychically hold the enemy for a moment giving Phoenix a chance to attack
*Lvl 1 Super - A giant gavel is summoned and crushes enemy (similar to SonSon's special)
*Lvl 2 Hyper - Phoenix yells "objection!" and the letters fly across the screen in huge letters. During this you hear either "Overruled" and the enemy is just damaged by the words, or "Sustained" and the screen also rains down gavels for extra damage (this is random).
*Lvl 3 Hyper - Phoenix rushes forward, grabbing the enemy, then claims "I rest my case" and the screen goes dark, some punchy sounds happen (Think raging demon) and when the lights come back on, the enemy is trapped in a giant stack of law documents.

I think he would be silly but very fun to play. :D

You getting both day one? I'm glad you are, I was hoping to play some matches against you. :D

yeah, Im gonna get them both day one, and I think the strategy guide as well. My PS3 has been usurped and is constantly being used as a bluray player now haha so im gonna get it on xbox too so I can play whenever i want without having to wait for the ps3 to free up :p

haha wow man, thats hardcore

normally I wouldn't, but see my post above, if i want to play this game whenever i want to, I need to have both versions. Only 3 games i care enough about to have on both systems are the best versions of my fave games (ssf4, mvc3, and the new mk coming out) i could play nothing but fighters and never regret it, loved fighters my whole life and they never get old

yea, good fighting games never get old. There is something about the competition, facing a new or old opponent, and the constant battle of out thinking them, keeps me coming back for more.

No match has ever been the same.

In case no one has seen this.

Blue Shirt Chris, Regular She Hulk, and Black and White Stripe X-23 = First team.

I forgot how many characters I like are in this game. Choosing my team will be hard.

IN YOUR OPINION. I see no dumb characters in this game. Only dumb users/people who complain about them because they are not your favorites and most of those times the favorites of those people are people like Gambit and Venom who are so overrated and looked at with nostalgia goggles and nothing more.
Sentinel. There's NO reason a drone should of got in over the hundreds of other Marvel characters. It only got in because of the tryhards & that's not even a good excuse, as they would of been perfectly fine with Psylocke. Magneto/Psylocke/Storm was used way more than MSS in MvC2's later days.
