Marvel vs. Capcom: A Thread of Two Worlds - Part 7

Damn. I wish Capcom would just stop the MvC franchise and do a full on Marvel fighting game. Alternate between SF and Marvel like NetherRealm/WB Games does with MK and Injustice
they'd be the wrong people to do that.

The roster for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite was reportedly leaked recently, and it was missing characters from some big-name series like X-Men and Fantastic Four. Now another possible roster has hit the internet, and it both confirms and expands upon the previous leak and what we already know about the game’s characters.
All of the previously leaked fighters are included in the new leak, with some interesting additions to both the DLC and core roster. On the Capcom side, the newly named characters are Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil, Captain Commando, Frank West from Dead Rising, and Asura from Asura’s Wrath. Rathalos, a Monster Hunter dragon (named on the list but “may have been cut” or included as part of Monster Hunter’s move-set according to the leak), and Sigma (as a DLC character), which we previously reported on.
The new Marvel characters listed are Doctor Octopus, Songbird, Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Star-Lord, and Black Widow, with Venom being listed as a DLC character or possibly a pre-order bonus. Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Groot is mentioned as part of Rocket Raccoon’s move-set, which matches up what we’ve seen so far. Interestingly, Nova and Gamora—two characters from the last leak—are missing from the new list.
The leak also included some details about Capcom’s plans for future DLC, which will be released about every three months.
The firs big batch of DLC will reportedly be “Fantastic Four vs. Darkstalkers” and will include Dr. Doom and Silver Surfer. The second big DLC will be “X-Men vs. Street Fighter,” with Wolverine, Cyclops, and Deadpool named as the Marvel representatives for that season of content.
Here’s an updated list to include all the characters named in the most recent leak (those with asterisks were previously leaked but not mentioned in the latest leak):
Capcom

  • Arthur
  • Asura
  • Captain Commando
  • Chris Redfield
  • Chun-Li
  • Dante
  • Firebrand
  • Frank West
  • Jedah
  • Leon Kennedy
  • Monster Hunter
  • Morrigan
  • Nemesis
  • Ryu
  • Sigma (DLC)
  • Spencer
  • Strider Hiryu
  • X
Marvel

  • Ant-Man
  • Black Panther
  • Black Widow
  • Captain America
  • Captain Marvel
  • Doctor Octopus
  • Doctor Strange
  • Gamora*
  • Hawkeye
  • Hulk
  • Iron Man
  • Ms. Marvel
  • Nova*
  • Rocket (with Groot in his move-set)
  • Songbird
  • Spider-Man
  • Star-Lord
  • Thanos
  • Thor
  • Ultron
  • Venom (DLC)
To be clear, the original poster did mention that not all of the characters listed here would necessarily be available at launch, but there are some interesting additions. Playable characters confirmed so far by various marketing materials are Hulk, Hawkeye, Thor, Captain Marvel, Chun-Li, Strider Hiryu, Chris Redfield, and Iron Man. Additionally, a cinematic trailer that was released in April showed Ultron and Sigma fusing to form Ultron Sigma, who looks to be the main antagonist in the game’s story mode. No word yet on whether that character will be playable or simply the two individual characters.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 17th.

I'll believe it if its true when its confirmed, if at all. I'm not wasting energy being happy Asura made it in if this is all fake.

And its still outrageously outlandishly dumb that Sigma is DLC. Lets make Ultron and Sigma the main villains of the game, and leave one of them out...

Black Panther, Dante, Doctor Strange, Zero, Thanos, Nova and Gamora confirmed.

The story demo looks good. Capcom stepped up

That trailer confirms that leaked roster. I have to say Dragonball Fighter Z stole some of this game's thunder.

It stole nearlly all of its thunder, for me. Dante, Zero and Gamora brought some of it back, but my hype is with DBZ, now.

Oh boy, Black Panther is DLC, but we get Gamora. Yay. :o

I'll just wait for whatever final form of this game will be.

Hey I like Gamora so I'm actually excited about that but Black Panther being DLC is a joke. No Widow at launch is a Joke.

They should've allowed Versus CPU in the demo, even it it's just against the grunts. Being forced to do every fight any time you want to try out a character is annoying.

As far as the mechanics are concerned, it's not the outright disaster some expected it to be. I tried to auto combo my way through a round and it took longer to beat a Drone than just freestyling my own. Down inputs for Shoryu style moves feel fine. I'm a little less sold on these move lists; Thor definitely feels better than in MvC3, but Dante doesn't feel as fun here as he did in that game. The Stones will take time to get used to; would be nice if I could test if you're throw invincible during the Time Stone dashes.

Overall, though, there's a lot that doesn't work. Frank Tieri's dialogue, the line delivery, and the mobile game art direction are pretty much DOA, which is terribly disappointing. I'm also having a hard time seeing how the mechanics will bring in newcomers. And while it feels good to tag cancel mid-special for set-ups on the fly, I'm still looking for the reason why this game couldn't be 3 vs. 3.

So, yeah. Not sure I'll be getting this. The story's no longer a hook for me, and if I really want to play more Dante, UMvC3 exists.

Leon Kennedy!?! YES! Please be true!

$200 for the collector's edition with a diorama that has Iron Man? Sold. Going to have to start saving for that.

Aww no X-Men, Fantastic Four and Inhumans for the main roster.

People would have rioted if the Inhumans made it in over the X-Men, so that's for the best. Hopefully we get confirmation of that X-Men DLC soon.

surprised Zero made the roster.

he wasn't on that leaked roster, was he?

so maybe there are more characters than that leaked suggested.......

Honestly, if they confirm Vile, I'll buy this at launch.

That mom cut is not working on Gamora. Im also disappointed they went with that bulky costume as her default look

they are saving her sexy costume as paid DLC, of course.

:o

There was zero chance of them using her classic look but I admit I'm surprised they didn't laze out and just use her movie costume.
