Homecoming Marvel's Spider-Man Costume!? - Part 2

i keep thinking about this new costume....

"home-made version of the Spiderman costume". a costume that realistically can be crafted by a 16 year old.

i keep thinking it wont be that different from Daredevil's black costume, except in Spidey colors of red and blue (or black?). so maybe a jogging outfit, a ski-mask and goggles? that sounds like something a 16 year old can tweak at home innit?

No, because Feige said it would be classic costume, it won't be a deviation from the source material like TASM1 (which I loved)

he said it will be recognizably our classic Spidey, but still, homemade costume. i was thinking latex costume like you can buy every Halloween but even then you'd still need mad sewing skills to pull that off at home. also when it comes to crimefighting, wouldnt one want choose something a bit more hardy than latex?

now thats something a 16 year old can realistically come up with

There is a young kid running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don’t know it yet,” says Kevin Feige.
we’ve already designed the costume, which is different than any of the ones that have come before. And yet ours is classic Spidey, as I think you’ll see.”
Sounds to me like he's talking about a homemade version of the classic Spider-Man costume like this homemade cosplay:
spidermnan.jpg

And not a massive deviation/reinvention from the source like this:

I doubt a homemade costume will look good. I think maybe some of you are taking Feige's comments a little too seriously

I don't see why Spider-Man's costume would get a radical redesign like TASM1... this is Spider-Man in the MCU standing side by side with Cap and IM, he's going to be wearing his classic costume.

well... idk man, that copslay version on top looks pretty much the same as "the ones that came before it", just homemade looking. Feige said its "different than any of the ones that have come before. And yet ours is classic Spidey, as I think you’ll see"

so i think the key phrase is different but classic. also homemade.

What kind of costume do you think we'll get? I don't want a crappy homemade redesign for Spider-Man's first appearance in the MCU.

I wasn't saying they would have a radical change

well you might think its crappy but you have to think within the context of a teenage Spiderman in the world of the MCU. this kid doesnt have Ironman money. its unlikely that he has fixed income either. he's a highschooler with weird powers he's trying to deal with and make the most out of by fighting crime the best way he could given his limited resources and experience.

so realistically? maybe its a modified track suit. or a surfing suit. with something to cover his head and face, so maybe a ski mask. maybe it has goggles so it would recognizably still be Spiderman (and not a recolored Kickass outfit). different but classic. and if any of these need patching up (and it will for sure), he can patch it up himself.

also the only thing for certain is that Spidey/ Peter Parker will appear in Civil War. it didnt say anything about him being in costume as well. its true that they already have the outfit designed, but for all we know this will only appear in his own movie, not in Cap 3.

Finally someone who agrees with me, the idea of a ******-looking homemade suit makes me angry :cmad:

That's when suspension of disbelief comes in, an unbelievably good looking suit is something easy just sort of accept even if its not realistic but a cheap looking suit won't be fun to watch for too long.

These are "homemade" and "different from all the previous ones" and yet still "classic":

This.

So do you want a homemade costume or not, Harry? A few days ago you were all about stressing the fact that Feige said Spidey would wear a homemade suit, now you seem to be against it. What's your stance?

dude this is the superhero genre, suspension of disbelief is de rigueur from the word go :funny:

but even if its basically fantasy the MCU still tries to find ways and means to ground itself in reality. thats why its as successful as it is. its a stupendous story but its presented in such a way that at least on the surface level, you could go-- yeah it CAN happen.

so teenage vigilante? incredible story. teenage kid creating his vigilante outfit using stuff he can get from the mall? its happening already :sus:

also dont forget that a few key elements have changed from the Maguire/ Garfield versions-- namely Peter is way younger and that his world is basically highschool. dont you think that along with his skills and experience, his costume would evolve just as he does?

I'm pretty much in the camp of suspension of disbelief when it comes to the costume. It's a comic book movie about a boy genius superhero. Give me an awesome looking Spider-man costume, not some hipster rags.

I don't want some scrappy version of the classic suit. As said above, it's a superhero movie. I don't care how implausible it is Peter managed to make such a professional looking suit.

Yes and no.

I want a homemade/cosplayish version of the classic design yet different from previous suits like this:

That McFarlane inspired suit is different from anything we've seen before but still homemade and classic.

The first two are not too bad actually. I would love for the suit to evolve over the course of the series.
