just get Brett Ratner or MCG and be done with it.

Get both of them together and throw in some of this guy and get ready for the ultimate cinematic threesome.

This one hurts, you can't put Matt reeves in my head and take it away, give him what he wants WB

Another round of director carousel, seems to happen with every DC project. DC seriously needs to figure out a way to get their own studio. They need to at least be given the freedom to do as much as they want. I don't care for their movie line ups, so that makes it easy for me to skip. I will see Flash and Martian Manhunter if he gets a solo. I like those characters a lot, an it would be their 1st actual movies.

It's bad when no one wants to direct A ****ING BATMAN MOVIE

It's unfortunate the talks have broken down. On to the next director I suppose on the list, Fincher perhaps?

Actually there's talk from reporters that this could very well be a negotiating tactic on Reeves' part to get Warner Bros to agree to certain terms (i.e. giving him final cut on the film, what the direction of the Batman solo films will be). So this might not be over yet.

That said, if it isn't Reeves, it absolutely won't be David Fincher. Most likely candidate after Reeves is Fede Alvarez imo.

If Reeves did say no, like Affleck, is he no longer the prefect choice now? :o

I hope it is. Perhaps WB will see how War of the Planet of the Apes is tracking in a few months, reconsider, and give Reeves what he wants.

Secondly, I'm surprised Affleck isn't backing Reeves. The guy seems like the perfect candidate to marry critically praised storytelling with blockbuster action, and WB isn't giving him more leeway? :loco:

Affleck just got hit with divorce papers. I think the dude is in a dark place mentally right now so it would be petty for us to jump on Affleck for not handling PR stuff right now. But who knows what the details entail about Reeves. There could be multiple reasons other than just giving a director leeway. Negotiations are a two way street.

I've only seen Fede's Don't Breathe but if he's the runner-up we are in good hands.

Fede Alvarez. Let him make his horror style Batman. He's 2 for 2 with Jane Levy, let him cast her as Barbara Gordon.

Any other scenario and I'd be intrigued by him. But sorry not sorry, he's going to walked all over on for a Batman movie.

I've no confidence for any up-and-coming director with no big budget movie on their resume, to call the final shots.

You're right, unfortunately. It sucks.

It's too bad they couldn't just reboot and let Fede do his own thing. Cast a new, younger Joker and Batman. Cast Jane Levy as Harley Quinn. A boy can dream.

Honestly, I'd kill for them to reboot the whole thing and have Fede helm a horror-type Batman film. Make it a horror-thriller in the vein of Silence of the Lambs.

It'll never happen, because Warner Bros wants to sell toys and keep it in the PG-13 range (understandably), but I think there would be a great way to freshen up Batman and give him a new angle cinematically by competing with the R-rated superhero flicks like Deadpool or Logan.

Why do you guys set yourself up for failure with WB/DC every time, haven't they let you down enough?

Honestly, I think Sam Raimi would be a great choice for a Batman movie.

*Insert joke about Batman crying and jazz-dancing here*

Batman 3: Die Batman! Die!

with tons of cheesy dialogue and Raimi touches like women screaming right into the camera

Oh for **** sake. The one good thing I've heard come from the DCEU in years is not happening. :(

If Reeves doesn't come back, you can forget the big name suggestions like Miller and Scott. Which means no press will be good enough to get the hype train going for the this movie. Footage could get people excited at some point, smaller name director or not, but even then...most folks won't buy into it because WB seems to bullying everyone around. When tbe likes of Affleck and Reeves are so close to making the movie, then they say nope after some negotiations...who is left? Smaller names that can play ball. That's not good. You don't play ball with WB. You take the ball away from them and you usually get a better film for it.

If Reeves comes back then I'm excited again because in sure it means he's getting his way. With or without Ben under the cowl.
