Harvey Dent was rumored to be involved in some capacity, so that could put Two-Face on the table.

I believe Oscar Isaac's name popped up for it at one point, and I think we had a rumor that Jack Huston was originally looked at for Batman but that they were now looking at him for Dent.

We've basically had nothing but rumors and silence for two years so it's hard to recall half the **** we've heard.

Matt Reeves wont have to worry about Batfleck or the larger DC universe if he just keeps his trilogy taking place in the "20 years of Gotham" Bruce mentioned in BvS. Boom, new younger actor ripe for future use by the time his trilogy ends

They've also not outright confirmed that he's involved, which you'd think they'd have no problem doing if he were. The fact that they've been quiet on the subject, coupled with the sustained reports we've received about the film featuring a younger Batman, suggests that something is going on with Affleck.

And it's not the fans perpetuating this. Several reputable trades have said as much.

Eh, the younger Bruce/Batman while still having Batfleck in some scenes, it just never made sense to me. It just seems too damn distracting. He is either going to continue with a recast with an older actor who is more than game for a trilogy; Jon Hamm for example or start fresh with a younger actor with no connection to the dceu, while still publicly saying it's still connected etc.

This. The biggest mis-step in Nolan's trilogy was forcing the Two-Face stuff at the end of TDK. That's what the 3rd movie should have been. All Two-Face. It would've been a more personal failing for Batman, instead of the ****ty Talia "reveal."

It’s a shame there are some (not here) out there who are using his quotes about Batman being more of a detective here as an excuse to bash Nolan some more, and to a lesser extent, Burton. He wasn’t saying his film will be better than what they did because of that; just that it will be different and more true to the character, which, let’s face it, both Nolan and Burton weren’t focus on staying that true to him. Nolan flat out stated that “the source material is irrelevant” when trying to make the best film you could make it.

I’m excited for what Reeves has in store. War alone is proof of what’s in store and words can’t begin to describe how glad I am we’re finally gonna see his detective side a bit more. Just let’s not put down the previous films for that (unless it’s the Schumacher and Snyder versions).
