Mattchew's fanart thread 2.0... The *****e just got *****ier!

So there was a contest to make a spoof poster for the romantic comedy 'You Kill Me' starring Ben Kingsley and Tea Leoni...

It ended tonight.

I entered a few times. This was my last entry... Kinda going with a serial killer theme here.

My idea of spoofing was to have the poster claim the movie was a romantic comedy, when in actuality its really just a movie about a psycho killer... Not sure how well that comes across, but here it is, regardless:

Thought I'd post it, just for a laugh.

So...

here's my first progress shot for the robot theme of July...

All I'll say is its the beginnings of a robot... Don't want to give it away too much, since there's a joke element to this.

I actually really like this design. I think if you just slapped the credit listing on the bottom, you would have a very sharp poster. It definetly has the potential to be one of those cult posters that becomes popular years after the movie's been on television.

Exactly what I was going for. I realize the execution is a be sloppy, but that's in a way the point, kinda. Thanks for the comment.

Not sure who bill is.

great work dude

Thanks!

One time thing. ;) Thanks for the well wishes, but my track record in contests is NOT EXACTLY the best. I guess the winner is supposed to be announced this week some time though.

Here is my entry for the month... My take on Wolverine as a robot.

I was going for a little less literal take, so I hope you guys like it! Let me know what you think.

I love this. I ROFL'D. i love when you do 3dish work. like the Mansion in your X-Men/Juggy pic. =)

Woo! RobotWars Wolverine! lmao! Awesome concept and it looks great.
x

Heavens to Betsy. I've always loved that phrase.

Heavens to Betsy...always funny, no matter when/where...great stuff Mattchew, always enjoy your stuff.

Thanks! This is my second kinda take on that style, the first being the wall and the mansion in the x-pic you were referring to. Not really 100% happy with it, but it's way more complex than that other stuff, so chalk it up to learning curve, or whatever. Thanks for the kind words.

HA! I love old timey phrases.

Thanks... In reference to celebrating a 'post-total milestone' or whatever, I point you all to pg 7 ravana's thread.... there's a take on that idea with a bit more gravitas than I've displayed here in my thread... You'll see what I mean.

Wooot! It looks great!

Thanks!

Ummm....

oh I guess it isn't :O

... right.

haha, Great Wolverine!

Thanks! Glad you liked it!

Nice Wolverine. Reminds me of the mortal kombat car buggies.

I not only have NO IDEA to what you are referring but I googled several variations of the words 'mortal' 'kombat' 'car' and 'buggy' and google doesn't know what you mean either.

fear not... I have a brother that will be more than equip to explain, next time we talk.

regardless, I'm gonna take that as a compliment. Thanks! ;)

; ) Cheers! Well you have to celebrate the little things somehow... and everyone knows she's a ho-bag who loves to get naked!... it practically drew itself!

I saw the official poster downtown today and at first I couldn't remember why the title seemed familiar. The it hit me so I turned around to look at it again (it really sucks compared to yours btw) and almost got hit by a stupid bike cause I stopped in the middle of the street

Point is: yours looks a lot better!

So I've been swamped recently, and have not really had a chance to post, except here or there for the past week and a half. I FINALLY got a bit of a reprieve, so I'm catching my breath just in time for the new monthly contest.

When I thought of this 'video game' theme, I was pretty much thinking of my favorite games for the original NES. I didn't want to do anything too obvious. In other words, Link is probably gonna get his due in this contest without me doing my version.

I settled on a series of games I followed and had a BLAST playing as a kid: 'Castlevania'.

This choice is partially because I love the games and partially because I have monsters on the brain, with the recent release of my favorite movie as a child, 'Monster Squad'.

Here's an initial sketch of Simon, the hero of the series:

I plan to flesh out the background with various monsters. Should be fun.

Let me know what you think!

^^^ Castlevania, an excellent choice! And Monster Squad, a true classic!

Awesome. And Monster Squad was easily one of my childhood faves as well. I use to rip up my shirts just to play "Wolfman" from that flick.

Yeah...I was a dork, lol.

Thanks! I'm having loads of fun with it so far! Love that you love the squad... 'Creature stole my Twinkie'.

You're a dork?!?!?! I had a 'Stephen King Rules' shirt made, based on the one the main kid wears... NOW who's the dork? ;)

Here's an update on Simon from my 'Castlevania' pic. I'm having a BLAST with this so far... loving this theme!
