MCU Phase 3: Have it your way - Part 1

It reminds me of when a blogger tries to add some fuel to the fire by stating that Marvel isn't adapting well and how they're even going to use titles like Age of Ultron instead of the actual story. My guess is that some people have never read those comics.

Why do people keep wanting to make movie versions of terrible and thematically incompatible comic book story arcs?

A lot of people don't perceive theme, and actually enjoyed the books on some level.

I actually perceive themes and there's lots of terrible stories I'd like to see adapted into something cool. The Clone Saga (from Sony) and Civil War (Marvel Studios) to name just a couple.

Since people are seemingly unable to use the search function or take hints: bump

With the recent news, I think the Phase 3 schedule is pretty much set.

2015: Ant-Man
2016: Cap 3, Dr. Strange
2017: Thor 3, GOTG:[blackout]PH[/blackout]
2018: Avengers 3

Now, on to Phase 4 and all sorts of Black Panther/Captain Marvel awesomeness! Woo-hoo!

(Then again, maybe Feige grabs the mic at Comic-Con, announces three films for 2016 and 2017 each, drops the mic and walks off stage to the sounds of delighted squealing of MCU fanpeople. :))

I believe we already have half of Phase 3 set up: Ant-Man is almost ready to start filming. Cap 3 owns its release date right after Ant-Man. We have the director for Dr. Strange, so it is also ready to start pre-production. And finally, we have writers for Thor 3 officially (?) announced, so 4th place is also taken.

Now, whats left. We don't know how many movies we will have in Phase 3. We already have 5 including Avengers 3. GotG most probably will also have a sequel (not so sure about Planet Hulk though, save him for phase 4) that's six. What bothers me though, is in the end of phase 3 we will have 2 movies that take place out of Earth (Thor 3 and GotG2) and it leaves Earth and its characters out of attention for two movies.

The solution is simple. Introduce Captain Marvel between Thor 3 and GotG and make it a part of 3-movie story arc with epic finale in Avengers 3. Its a win/win for everyone - Marvel will continue expanding its cosmic universe while staying on Earth, and can create a connection between space and Earth that will allow Guardians appear in Avengers 3. Not to mention the introduction of Carol, SWORD, closer look on Kree, maybe some Skrull hints and so on.

I'm perfectly okay with Earth not being the centre of attention for two movies.

Attached to the post is an image from something I threw together at work a couple weeks ago in my free time.

I've been a big proponent of doing Avengers 3 in two parts since we saw Thanos the first time on screen. But, because I haven't seen anything legitimate leading to that becoming a reality, I went under the assumption they weren't going to do that.

I also don't know their Netflix series release dates, so I just threw them together for now.

My thought behind what I have there is book-ending the new/risky projects with proven successes. This has Ant Man between AOU and Captain America 3 (which has been confirmed), Doctor Strange between Captain America 3 and Thor 3, and Inhumans between GOTG2 and Avengers 3. Also, this puts more opportunities to touch on the cosmic side with Thanos by having Thor 3, GOTG2 and Inhumans back-to-back-to-back, leading up to Thanos arriving on Earth in Avengers 3.

This plan also has Phase 4 beginning in July 2018 with Iron Man 4 (Ten Rings/Mandarin), Ms. Marvel in November 2018 and Captain America 4, with Bucky as Cap in May 2019.

If they do a two-part Avengers 3, as pr0xyt0xin as also mentioned, I could see them doing:

November 2017 - Ms. Marvel
May 2018 - Avengers 3 Part 1
July 2018 - Inhumans
November 2018 - Avengers 3 Part 2

Two plans, each of which would excite me equally.
