Marvel Films MCU Phase IV!

I don't understand why [ENDGAME Spoilers]

Black Widow is getting a movie. They're going to confuse a LOT of people regardless of if it's a prequel. I honestly don't have any interest in a Black Widow prequel at this point in time when this is literally the worst time to do it considering Natasha is dead. This movie should have come out 6 years ago. Why is this being made?

My guess (and I'm sorry that I've been posting this everywhere):
is that Black Widow isn't going to be dead forever. Cap went back in time to replace the Soul Stone: that could reverse Natasha's death too. But Black Widow has a good reason to come back to life - in Endgame, Red Skull tells her she's the "daughter of Ivan", which I think is a reference to Ivan Druig, the alias of one of the Eternals, Druig, who in the comics becomes a KGB agent and president of a Soviet state. I've already speculated that Druig might be the villain of the Black Widow movie, but now I wonder whether it might turn out that Black Widow is the daughter of an Eternal. Why, after all, is she getting a movie now? A movie that could have come out 6 years ago, but is happening now, right before The Eternals? There's a reason, I think. I also think that Black Widow could even get a power upgrade from her father, which would raise her to the same level as some of the other characters now in the MCU, like Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, etc. I'm guessing that in the post-credits scene for Black Widow, we see Natasha brought back to life on Vormir and meet her father.

Wow, that is a very interesting theory

While this Is an interesting theory this just ruins the impact of her death in Endgame. And I also question how it can be possible considering the soul stone can only be acquired through a sacrifice so the main timeline Natasha will stay dead. The only way this could work is by going back to get an earlier Natasha.. But even then, I just, I don't want her back. Her character has closure in Endgame. This is like bringing Stark to do Iron Man 4, making Endgame pointless

See, I don’t feel like there was closure. I think
that honestly, her arc could have ended in a more satisfying way. Having her basically dismiss her own life as worthless simply because she doesn’t have a family and Hawkeye does? That didn’t really sit well with me. I get why they did it, but her sacrifice didn’t feel necessary to me. Plus, Hawkeye hasn’t even been in the picture for the most part. Bruce and Nat’s whole relationship was reduced to nothing. It would have been more impactful, in my opinion, if Bruce had sacrificed himself but the Hulk had remained or something like that. Murdering Natasha wasn’t something I liked.

I think there is going to be a huge shift to a new cast and only solo movie characters will be in team movies from now on.

I think Stan, Olsen, Hiddleston, and definitely Bettany won't be in anymore movies other than brief cameos now that they are demoted to TV.

Hiddlestone will do fun little cameos here and there, but he is pretty much done.

Likewise I don't think we will see Scarlet Witch in any more movies other than Doctor Strange cameos, as the only character she is tied to is Clint, and this was likely his last movie, barring the rumoured Disney Plus series.

Her awesome fight with Thanos (the Russos finally portrayed her magic as magic instead of the bland pew pew lasers), it was a scene striking in being superior to any of the boring crap she has been given in the comics she barely appears in these days.

The only thing that could top that is her fighting her arch nemesis Chthon, and we won't ever see that in the movie's. I fear the Disney Plus series is going to be a train wreck as reaction to it has been very negative. Her powers are too expensive for the small budget the series will likely have and I have zero confidence in the inexperienced showrunner Jac Schaeffer, given her mediocre writing on Captain Marvel.

Marvel cosmic and it's characters and antagonists have nothing to do with Wanda, and Doctor Strange is the only franchise worthy of her power level and with compelling adversaries. Like many peole I was baffled there was no interaction between her and Strange, given the huge fan demand for them to team-up or at least interact briefly. Why the f*** did she have to team up with women she has nothing in common with and not Strange, whom she is has a ton of history with in the comics?

I'd be willing to bet money that's not going to be the case. The fact that we're inevitably going to get a Fantastic Four reboot at some point in the future alone disputes that (and nobody is making individual Reed Richars, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm solo movies leading up to that).

I can see the F4 coming before the X-Men since it’s been 4 years since that dismal reboot. Also they fit into the frame of being beloved heroes ala the Avengers. I’m really curious to see how the X-Men will factor into the MCU seeing how they are hated/feared and the Avengers are the opposite. So I’m very interested to see that change in the MCU when they do come.

While this is an interesting theory I just took it as
Ivan Petrovich being her real father in the MCU

What do you think? Will they Keep Cap, Ironman etc. in the intro for the Marvel logo or will they cut them out?

I have to say, Endgame did a great job getting me excited for the future of the MCU.

- Guardians 3 WITH THOR
- Black Widow prequel basically confirmed
- New Avengers roster

So this is a random youtube comment rumour but saw someone claim that Tom Pelphrey is the MCU's namor and will be announced within the next 6 months. But it makes no sense this actor played another character in Iron Fist. I know they did have the actress mixup in Civil War where they cast that actress who happened to also be in Luke Cage as a different character. So I guess its possible if this does actually happen it further cement that the Netflix shows are not MCU.

After what they just did in Endgame, Feige saying the MCU's future phase(s) won't be structured like the Infinity Saga, and the films we know in the pipeline, it may be a while before we see another Avengers film. I could easily see the next Avengers movie not being around until around 2024, especially with GOTG Vol 3 likely not being out until late 2022/early 2023 due to Gunn's Suicide Squad 2 commitment. It'll be interesting to see how FFH deals with EG's consequences. If it's not dealt with there, the most likely film it'll be dealt with is in Doctor Strange 2 as it seems BW's solo is being setup as a prequel and the Eternals seems like a film that needs to handle their supposed long history on Earth and film debut's for all their main characters before connecting with the MCU at large. According to Feige, the Disney+ series are also going to play heavily into the MCU going forward and with them likely being released in 2020, they may end up being the main conduit for dealing with the initial aftereffects of Endgame.

Until the MCU slate is released in July, the future of the MCU is in a bit of a flux, especially with the loss of both RDJ and Evans from the forefront and there no longer being a big overarching story now. I'm also kind of in wait-and-see mode with BP and CM being the new faces of Phase 4 since their solo outings benefited heavily from leading into Avengers and it'll interesting to see if they can keep the audience's attention without the big movies following them.

With the productions starts for several films being talked about in a recent THR story, I think we can sort of glean how Marvel is setting things ups post-EG. As of now, my Phase 4 schedule looks like this:
2020: BW in May and Eternals in November
2021: Shang-Chi in Feb, GOTG3 in May, and DS2 in November
2022: BP2 in Feb, CM2 in May, and Ant-Man & the Wasp sequel or Spider-Man sequel in July.

I think that besides the Eternals and Shang-Chi, there'll be at least one to two more previously unknown films (Thor 4, A-Force, Black Knight, Captain Britain, Thunderbolts, and Fantastic 4 among others) added/announced at SDCC in July that may shift things around and potentially lead into a big tentpole May 2023 film, likely another Avengers film.

An avengers 5 in 2023 would make sense i think Iger even said last year theyll do more Avengers but we might have to go back to waiting 3-4 years.

Yeah so I doubt the Disney + shows would last long with a "film budget". Unless the shows perform like Game of Thrones and Stranger Things and public interest is so high, okay. But Disney + shows are gonna be like what 10th, 11th, 12th show under the Mcu?

Nope. If you read the recent posts regarding Thor 4, not everyone thinks there will be a Thor 4 unless you skipped reading those posts.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare the Disney+ shows to previous MCU shows. Everyone’s gonna have Disney+, it’s gonna be widespread as Netflix. Netflix had budget-looking shows with D-list characters that relied on the Marvel logo. The Disney+ shows are gonna pull in millions more from the millions and millions of casuals that see the big movies, didn’t care about the Netflix shows or SHIELD, but go “yo, these are actual AVENGERS on the screen.”

I don‘t think BP2 will keep the February slot. besides Avengers it’s the biggest franchise now and will get the May Slot

I could see the next Avengers movie being Secret Wars with many of their remaining heroes and villains appearing

How do you know everyone will have Disney+? Its a new streaming service and would take years to really take off, especially in international markets, and thats if Disney+ goes global. Daredevil is also far from being a D-list.

According to THR, the next three films being made are Black Widow, Eternals, and Shang-Chi. GOTG 3 will be filmed in 2020. With that in mind I will adjust the schedule.

2020
May- Black Widow
November- Eternals

These movies will be prequels to the MCU

2021
February- Shang-Chi
May- GOTG 3 (four years)
November- Doctor Strange 2 (five years)

Guardians and Doctor Strange will be set in 2023. Thor will appear in GOTG 3.

2022
February- Black Panther 2 (four years)
Thor 4 (five years)
Spider-Man 3 (3 years)

Thor 4 will spin out of GOTG 3. Namor will be the villain in BP2

2023
March- Captain Marvel 2 (four years)
May- Avengers: A-Force (four years)
Ant-Man 3 (five years)

Avengers: A-Force will be set in 2023.

Tagging a few things in your post for those who may have not seen Endgame. Also, link to article?

...says the guy with spoiler-avatar

To round out the 2022 slot I would go with Ant Man 3 in the Feb 2022 slot and in the Nov 2022 slot I would go with Fantastic Four

Ant Man is popular with the younger audience, I reckon it'll get the July slot

The original reports did say Shang-Chi was being fast tracked.

With that in mind...

May 2020 - Black Widow
Jul 2020 - Shang Chi
Nov 2020 - Eternals

Feb 2021 - ???
May 2021 - Black Panther 2
Nov 2021 - Doctor Strange 2

Feb 2022 - ???
May 2022 - Captain Marvel 2
Jul 2022 - Ant-Man 3

Feb 2023 - ???
May 2023 - Guardians Of The Galaxy 3
Nov 2023 - Doctor Strange 3

Feb 2024 - Black Panther 3
May 2024 - Avengers 5 (Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Ant-Man & Wasp for certain, plus maybe a couple of Eternals?)
Jul 2024 - ???
