Marvel Films MCU Phase IV!

Spider-Man is a different situation. Marvel is not making this film, Sony is. Had no deal been made between the two companies, then Sony would still be making the Spider-Man film in July of 2017. He is hardly new. Marvel knows Spidey makes money. This is more than anyone can say about Captain Marvel or Black Panther, for example. Though Marvel won't be making any BO money, they will be selling tons of merchandise.
I read somewhere that marvel still get some money from those spiderman films,x-mens film etc..

Not accurate. They're both making that film. Sony is financing, Marvel is devoting production resources. Marvel moved their slate around to accomodate it, Feige chose the writers & director, lead actor. If Marvel wasn't involved it's a different film.

Agreed. With Dr. Strange as the cornerstone, they could really dig in and explore this corner of the Marvel Universe. Not doing so would be a huge missed opportunity IMO.

I'd do a Dr. Strange sequel, Ghost Rider/Blade team-up movie (there are concerns that either of them can't carry a solo, plus it'd be more efficient this way), Moon Knight over at Netflix, pepper in, say, Werewolf By Night and a few others (think along the lines of Hawkeye and Black Widow's intro into the MCU) across those movies/shows and BOOM... you have all the ingredients for an Avengers-esque Midnight Sons movie.

I'll take all of this please.

Marvel gets a cut from the Fox stuff. They got a cut of the Raimi Spider-Man films, but there was a renegotiation that gave Sony full box office. Marvel got full Spider-Man movie merchandise rights, though.

Not true, at all. If you look at Disney's slate of movie's, every phase 3 film except Spider-Man is on it. That's because Spider-Man is not a Marvel film. Marvel adjusted their slate, because Spider-Man is coming to the MCU. I'd like to know where you get your information.

Spider-Man is nowhere to be found.

Sony is still the distributor of Spider-Man, that's why it's not on Disney's slate. It's both a Sony and Marvel film, though, as Feige is the co-producer.

Having Feige near the film is reassurance enough to me.

In Marvel Phase 4 (or before) I would like to see S.W.O.R.D established, after the Chitauri invasion of New York, the Dark elf attack in London, the Destroyer demolishing a small town and all the other craziness from aliens besides I think the establishment of SWORD would seem logical you could do this in a Captain Marvel movie, Agents of Shield or combination of both (possibly other tie ins from other movies).

Namor pls. :csad:

But seriously, if the stars aligned my Phase IV would have Namor and Fantastic Four.

Avengers 4
Black Panther 2
Captain Marvel 2
Doctor Strange 2
Fantastic Four
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Inhumans 2
Namor
Silver Surfer
EDIT: The Incredible Hulk 2

Then Sony puts out Spider-Man 2.

I don't want Phase 4 to be nothing but sequels, so I hope they're able to sprinkle in more original properties.

If they get Namor, then I would think they get solo Hulk movie rights. That list does not contain a solo Hulk movie, so that list fails for me.

Oh believe me, I want another Hulk movie. I just don't know if Marvel will work something out with Universal. Ruffalo made it sound like it wasn't a conversation Marvel was willing to have at present. And they seem content with making him a supporting character in other movies.

I thought the rights to Namor were shared between the studios, where either of them could use him. Is that not the case?

They say Namor rights re complicated. It they are Hulk kind of complicated they should use him as supporting character in another movie. He would make an awesome antagonist to Black Panther.

I heard an interesting point on a podcast today - I'm sure if Marvel wanted to outright buy the Hulk rights back, they should've done it before all of their properties became red hot because now that everyone knows their true worth they ain't lettin it go.

I think SWORD will be established sometime between Thor: Ragnarok and Infinity War 1. A nice setup would be a post-credits scene in Ragnarok, showing Thor returning to Earth and warning the other heroes about Thanos. SWORD is founded in response to this. If rumors are true, that Nick fury is in Ragnarok, Thor could warn him about Thanos.

Yes, please! What's the deal with the Namor rights? I know there isn't a good relationship with Universal, right? It's not like they have plans for him though.

Did we ever find out if Marvel has the rights to SWORD? Or is it still possibly owned by Fox? Cuz the comics right now are really making me think they're setting up Alpha Flight as a SWORD alternative for the MCU.

I hope and pray the MCU is healthy and thriving by the time all of their IPs come home.

A while back, I heard Joss Whedon say those rights belong to Fox, but SWORD was mentioned in a deleted scene in the first Thor. I use the word SWORD loosely. I don't see it as much of a big deal. They could have an agency that functions the same way, but is called something else.

I was thinking the same, but it strikes me as odd because Alpha Flight has always been a team of Mutants that debuted in an X-Men comic.
