Marvel Films MCU Phase IV!

Galactus and Silver Surfer in GOTG Vol 3
Xavier introduction in Avengers 4 Post Credit Scene

I could see SS fully in GotG 3 if Gunn goes for it and maybe a hint of Galactus.

High Evolutionary will probably be an antagonist in GotG3 as he created Rocket and Gunn wants to explore that, and with Adam Warlock and the Sovereign, HE fits into a theme through those characters.

In the comics HE has a cool design but is a boring character, ironically due to his ambiguity.

Film where some Predators ask the Skrulls who the greatest warriors on Earth are and hunt Captain America and Cable?

Oh right. Interesting if Gunn has mentioned that. I'd like to see Adam Warlock too.

Ha, that'd be pretty cool.

I want a Captain Britain film sooo much. And cast Dan Stevens.

Probably time to start thinking about phase 4. They'll probably do the reveal soon.

I used to think an agents of atlas movie would be great for phase 4 but I'm happy for them to focus on xmen and fantastic four.

Would have been a great way to set up namor though

Avengers 4 isn’t too far away. Surely it can be done as soon as people have seen that.

Got a question and didn’t know where to ask. Would the Ancient One be able to defeat all of the Avengers?

Hmm. If its the OG Avengers, then probably. If nothing else, she can just dump them all in the mirror dimension. Thor is powerful and has magic powers, but while I can buy him shrugging off some types of more esoteric attack, even he has no answer to being stranded in a strange parallel universe. Most of the rest would be much, much more vulnerable, either physically or psychically or both.

Where things become dicey is the newer Avenger roster, with the Vision. Ultimately it boils down to "He is an indestructible man with an Infinity Stone". Even if the Vision only barely knows how to use it, that's not something to sneeze at.

MAY 20 - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

JUL 20 - Black Panther 2

NOV 20 - Doctor Strange 2

MAY 21 - Spider-Man 3

JUL 21 - Antman & Wasp 3

NOV 21 - Black Widow?

FEB 22 -

MAY 22 -

JUL 22 -

<Here will come a 4th film for sure in '22>

With the success of Black Panther I am sure Marvel will push the Sequel in 2020 to ride that wave again. The 2020/2021 plots seems very obvious now.
Only quesion mark for me is the Black Widow movie, I can't see it happen.

Black Panther 2 won't be that early. Coogler is also doing a film in the interim, and I imagine they wait for him. Further, the MCU always tries to have 1 new franchise a year. I am guessing the July spot goes to Black Widow. I agree on DS2. 2021, I think May is BP2, Spidey 3 in July (July has been his month in the MCU so far...could also be Ant-Man 3 since it likely will be in pre-pro earlier), and new franchise in November. I would love if that new franchise was FF cause the acquisition should be done by then, but it might be slightly early.

BP I think will most likely by 2021.

My guesses:

2020

May 20 -- Guardians 3

July 20 -- Black Widow

Nov. 20 -- Doctor Strange 2

2021

May 21 -- Black Panther 2

July 21 -- Spider-Man 3

Nov. 21 -- Ant-Man 3

2022

Feb. 22 -- Captain Marvel 2

May 22 -- Avengers 5

July 22 -- A-Force

I'll believe MS is moving to four films a year when I see evidence it's happening, not before; also, they've already started talking up Black Widow and a female team-up movie, so I'm treating those as all-but-confirmed.

Apparently, Marvel Studios have a plan for the next 20 films. I would guess:

2019 - Spiderman 2
2020 - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
2020 - Black Widow
2020 - Doctor Strange 2
2021 - Spiderman 3
2021 - White Wolf
2021 - Liberators
2022 - Black Panther 2
2022 - Nova
2022 - Captain Marvel 2
2023 - Black Widow 2
2023 - Doctor Strange 3
2023 - Infinity Watch
2024 - Namor
2024 - Nova 2
2024 - White Wolf 2
2025 - Black Panther 3
2025 - Captain Marvel 3
2025 - Avengers 5
2026 - Black Widow 3

White Wolf would follow Bucky as the new Captain America/White Wolf.

Liberators is the rumoured all-female team up movie, including the likes of Valkyrie, Black Widow, Gamora, Mantis, Okoye, Shuri, lead by Captain Marvel. I think the idea after Avengers 4 would be to accept that you can't really top Infinity War in scale (at least not straight away) so instead we'd move into the territory of more fluid crossovers, with smaller Avenger type films.

Infinity Watch is likewise a team-up film, a merging of the remaining guardians of the galaxy and some Avengers team members. Nova as well. Focused on the more bizarre, cosmic parts of the MCU. I could see Thor making a return here and it could be a good place for mystical characters like Strange or Scarlet Witch as well.

After Avengers 5 they finally start to incorporate the Xmen and F4 into the MCU. Possibly a move into four films per year from then on out.

They've had 3 years between Avengers films, I doubt that will change. That puts Phase IV from 2019-2022. That's nine films.

The priorities are: Guardians 3, Spidey 2, Black Panther 2, New Avengers
Also likely are: Dr. Strange 2, Captain Marvel 2 and Ant-Man 3
This leaves room for two new properties: X-Men and Fantastic Four
To do Liberators or Black Widow they'd have to either 1) Not get Fox properties in this phase, because we know they prioritize these ala SMHomecoming OR 2) Replace Ant-Man or Captain Marvel with the Liberators and/or Black Widow OR 3) postpone Dr. S 2, CM 2 or Ant-Man 3 to another phase because of the Fox properties OR 4) Go to 4 movies a year or let Phase 4 extend more.

Fiege has indicated that the phase grouping might not be used any more post Infinity War. If films like Liberators and Infinity Watch are sufficiently big movies then you can go longer without Avenger movies. So long as you have a big team up movie every few years. Hell, you could make those movies subtitled avenger movies if needs be, but personally, I like the idea of making things more fluid; blurring the lines more and more between solo and crossover films and having big event movies that aren't called the Avengers, so as not to tire that brand name out.

I do think that Xmen and F4 will be saved for "phase 5". I just don't think the rights will be sorted fast enough for Marvel to burst into phase 4 with the Xmen and F4. Better to focus phase 4 on making sure that the second generation of heroes can carry the MCU. Then you can go all in with the Fox properties.

I tend to think that unless Ant-Man and the Wasp does incredibly well that a third Ant-Man film will be scrapped. Ant-Man is definitely Marvel's least valuable film franchise right now.

Makes sense. I mean, it's easy to treat all films as one big story when all your solo films are about traditional Avengers (Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man). Guardians and Doctor Strange aren't traditional Avengers but are connected via the Infinity Stones, so they're still part of "one story". But with the Infinity Stones gone and other solo films being made, there's no good reason to continue the "one big story" thing anymore. Spider-Man and Black Panther feel like their first "parallel stories" outside the Avengers/Thanos story.

So I'm assuming we'll see more "parallel stories" like how the Netflix shows run parallel to the Avengers, but done right - they'll actually interact with the rest of the MCU.

I think most know/assume we're getting

Guardians 3 in May 2020, possibly Black Widow as the July release then Dr Strange 2 in November.

2021: Spider-Man 3, Ant-Man 3 and Black Panther 2 sounds about right. Ant-Man 3 could be a 2022 release though

I'm pretty sure they'll stick with 2 sequels and one new property per year. So:

2020: GOTG3, Black Widow, Strange 2
2021: Black Panther 2, Ant-Man/Wasp Sequel or Spider-man 3, Valkyrie/Nova/Fantastic Four

I wonder when we will get confirmation? To be honest I would love it if superherohype got some new boards
