Marvel Films MCU Phase IV!

Disney Plus Day press release:
We’ll get some phase 4 news in this event, but what should we expect?

the confirmation of that Wakanda series(which is rumored to be animated), that Okoye series, and that Agatha Harkness show.

It seems likely that they'd officially announce Echo and Werewolf by Night too since they seem to be actively working on those already. Maybe Nomad as well, since they trademarked that quite a while ago.

That’s right, thanks for pointing that out and given the rumors of Daredevil and Kingpin being in that show I would totally dig an official announcement of those two characters for that show. It most likely isn’t happening but man that would be sweet.

I don't see Echo getting officially announced until Hawkeye finishes.

I wonder if we are going to see Squadron Supreme, Hyperion, Tigra, Dr. Spectrum, Quasar

When I go to Wikipedia and do a reading spree about Marvel characters, suddenly there are like a dozen more ips that I see, that haven't been adapted in the movies.

Also Henry Cavill wants to be Capt. Britain.

I can see some incarnation of Quasar showing up during this phase, like in GotG Vol. 3. I expect Captain Britain to show up around the same time they first start exploring the idea of mutants in the MCU so they can introduce him along with his twin sister Psylocke. Probably Black Knight will be involved in his introduction too. At this point I don't see any place where it would make a lot of sense to introduce the Squadron Supreme or Tigra yet, but who knows.

It’s gonna be an onslaught of MCU over the next few years, for better or worse.

Yeh as much as I like Scarlett Witch and specially what they’ve done with her in Wandavision that “hot take” is a dud an doesn’t make much sense at all.

What about Thor, Doctor Strange and even Captain Marvel?
- Thor is an OG Avenger and has headlined a trilogy that grossed 2B, he has appeared in 8/9 MCU films so far, hot in the heels of Ragnarok/IW and EG to an extent, not to mention that he’s also the very first MCU character to get a 4th movie in his own franchise.

- DS has had 1 solo movie grossing 677M and is now headlining a sequel, he was also a big standout in IW and the best thing about What If.

- CM solo film grossed over 1.1B.

I wish they would give another female superhero a solo movie. Black widow was way overdue and is currently 1 and done. The Marvels... from the title it sounds like a Birds of Prey team up movie than a solo Carol Danvers movie. I can't imagine whats the follow up for that? A solo Carol Danvers movie and Kamala Khan movie?

I'd like to see a solo movie for Elektra and Squirrel Girl.

I guess Black Panther probably technically fits that.
But I think at this stage it's likely that most movies are ensembles to some extent. Even Black Widow felt almost as much a teamup of Natasha and Yelena as Ant-Man & The Wasp was a teamup of Scott and Hope. And except for Spider-Man I think all upcoming movies have one or more female superheroes in the main cast. D+ seems to be the only place that'll be doing solo stories for the coming years.

Maybe Blade won't, unless we learn more about that cast?

I think there have rumors that they may give him a daughter. A version of which they almost introduced in the comics a few years before abandoning those plans for one reason or another.

True.
I've heard rumours that Blade might introduce Elsa Bloodstone but it seemed she'd be a minor character in there.

I think it may just be that all movies with release dates will be sequels for established characters (and F4 is a team that includes a woman). Shang-Chi didn't really treat Katy or Xialing as proper main character superheroes either, so I guess with Blade being the next solo introduction movie that may be why. And I guess we don't really know if there will be in Captain America 4 or Deadpool 3 either. So I guess there could just be a solo female superhero movie again after that in the vein of Shang-Chi or Blade. Though I'm not sure which character they'd likely give a solo movie next.
Out of Wanda, Monica, Agatha, Sylvie, Katy, Xialing, Sersi, Sprite, Thena, Makkari, Kate Bishop, Echo, She-Hulk, Kamala, America Chavez, Valkyrie, Okoye, Nakia, Ayo, Carol, Gamora, Mantis, Nebula, Riri, Hope, Janet, Cassie Lang and Sue Storm none seem like they'd likely get a solo movie any time soon. They're all used as part of an ensemble, supporting role or on Disney+ shows. As for new characters I'd say Spider-Woman could be a good choice but it seems Sony has that on lock. I can't really think of other logical choices for new characters to get a solo in phase 4 or 5. I guess Shuri, Jane Foster and Yelena getting subsequent BP, Thor or BW movies respectively might be the most likely?

Oh I forgot about Shuri. But who knows whats going to happen there in the long run (BP3) after all those reports. Wakanda Forever might get delayed again.

I'd like to see someone that isn't a legacy character or version 2.0 of someone else. Elektra and Squirrel Girl are the only ones that I can think of. I'm not that very familiar with female characters from the cosmic side of Marvel.

While Invisible Woman, Storm, Jean and Rogue would likely start in their reXpective superhero team. If they ever get a solo movie, it would likely appear as X-Men or F4 solo spin off, rather a separate IP getting her own film.

I think another Avenger they haven't introduced yet would be Tigra, but I'm not sure what you'd make a Tigra movie about.

You could maybe do a White Tiger movie that follows Ava Ayala that takes some elements from previous white tigers' stories and also really focusses on latin culture, since their family is one of Puerto Rican immigrants.

If they're going the supernatural route with characters like Blade and Werewolf By Night, I think it might be good to give Elsa Bloodstone a movie.

I could see them focus on a female Quasar from the start by combining elements of Wendell Vaughn into Avril Kincaid or by making Phyla-Vell the first.

And of course if you're giving Elektra a second chance you could reintroduce Jessica Jones, Hellcat and the Daughters of the Dragon.

I've thought about Tigra but I think thats more unlikely than Squirrel Girl. Squirrel Girl from what I've noticed from the comiXs, got more eXposure by headlining her own series. Squirrel Girl would perfect for something lighter / family friendly film. Tigra on the other hand, seems like a harder sell.

Elsa Bloodstone, I only knew about her from the recent Marvel VS Capcom. And imo, she doesn't seem marketable to headline a solo movie. I can see her appearing in Blade and other supernatural MCU movies but not in her own movie.

As for NetfliX characters eXcluding Elektra, I only see it happening once the likes of Daredevil, Iron Fist and the Punisher get their own mcu feature film.

I would love Marvel to surprise us and give at least one of these ladies their own movie.

Based on what I've seen so far, I'm going with "for worse".

WandaVision and Shang-Chi were ok (though I think Shang Chi was mostly wasted potential), Hawkeye seems like it's going to be pretty decent, but the rest has been hot garbage. As for the future, GOTG 3 will probably be the best of the bunch, Spiderman NWH and Dr Strange 2 have the potential to be really good but I expect a jumbled, bloated, cluster F from both. Moon Knight looks interesting though the character is completely foreign to me. As for the rest - no thanks. Perhaps I have finally out-grown the target audience.

Hmmm I'm not a big fan of Disney+ shows, as they seemed like lower/mid budgeted films stretched for 4 hours and 30 minutes; that could have been a 2hour movie released for the theaters.

But the state of Marvel shows is definitely better compare when Aos, netfliX Marvel, Runaways, cloak & Dagger and the foX shows were active. Its easier and faster to catch up with the Disney+ shows, especially with the shorter episode order. It also seems more meaningful, as plenty of the actors from the mcu films are appearing in the shows.

well, Marvel cant release 10 movies by year, so thats why they are making shows.
And not all the characters need $200m movies, or any movie for that matter. Tv is tv, and movies are movies, both can coexist and thats the exciting part, specially in MCU.
