MCU vs thread....controversy and chaos

Mate, I went in wanting and expecting to dislike it. Actually, it was okay. It wasn't great, and had a lot more problems, but I liked some of the big ideas and the third act was pretty spectacular.

I'm going to see it a second time, just because some stuff ( like Arishem) is better on the big screen.

He's created a race of servile androids who probably rival the Asgardians for power, and are actually ageless ( so they're millions of years old).

As for his other powers.....well I think he probably one ups Dormammu, given that creating stars and planets seems more difficult than merely drawing them into another dimension.

He would be much, much larger than Dormammmu, who would have been probably about 1000 feet tall ( based on his size compared to Dr Strange), whereas Arishem is comparable in size to the Earth.

He also seems unlikely to be susceptible to Infinity stones, maybe even the time stone.

Have to say I disliked Shaun Chi at first, but after watching it on Disney plus a few times, it's actually...well mostly not bad.

My guess is that you'll like the first 2 acts better upon second viewing. Let us know.

This fight has come up before. I think its actually more competitive than most, but. . . ultimately? Based on the limited information available, Dormammu is more or less in the place that Ego *wants* to reach. If this were "Ego, after Ego succeeded in his plan in GOTG 2 and transformed most of the universe into more of himself", than it might be a fair fight. As is? Its basically "One cosmic powered planet vs an entire universe".

( Arishem vs Dormammu? Without more data, I'm not willing to touch that. Its the Battle of the Ill-Defined Omnipotent Beings, those always lean to the vague. )

I accept that a lack of demonstrable combat feats are a limitation on this discussion, and I prefer to use evidence and logic to support my opinions.

However, my gut tells me Arishem takes this.

He dwarfs Dormammu in physical size and demonstrates the ability to create suns and planets, and travel instantaneously across the universe - and alter the curvature of spacetime ( otherwise his gravity would have caused devastation on Earth). He is not omniscient or omnipresent, so he's not on the Beyonder's level, but he's still about as close as we've seen in the MCU.

Dormammu rules the Dark Dimension , and can bring planets into his realm. He can manipulate the matter there, which he used to repeatedly kill Dr Strange. However, he was stymied by a single Infinity stone.

I doubt Arishem would be so easily thwarted.

To harm Arishem Dormammu would need to literally throw planets at him, can he do that?


One bit of logic that ta supports an Arishem victory is that he has vast creative power- and can create life itself. Dormammu is a conqueror and destroyer. It is generally easier to destroy than create which suggests Arishem's power is greater. Not perfect logic at all.

While the comics aren't really relevant, comic book Arishem would obliterate comic book Dormammu pretty easily.

Is it on? I'll watch it. Saying you think it's gonna bomb ain't being a hater BTW. That being said, I thought Eternals was pretty good; especially after view 2. I don't care what RT says; it is in no way, shape or form anywhere close to the worst MCU movie. Not even close. Not even after view 1. But if you won't even watch it, you won't know.

I get it! Hawkeye is an original Avenger but Kate Bishop...........Ms. Marvel..........She Hulk.......I just ain't feeling this phase of Marvel right now. The only one I am hyped for is Moon Knight and Spiderman.

Ebony Maw is formidable but Vision with the vibration and phasing is also hard to beat unless Maw has a way of disrupting that. Maw’s body wouldn’t be able to. withstand much if Vision properly went for it.

He didn't really have the chance, since Wanda destroyed him before Thanos reached him, and then he was brought back and killed before he had any time to do anything. And on top of that he was still badly injured.

Here, he'll be at full strength and he's going up against a glass cannon who he can one-shot with virtually any attack. And I haven't even mentioned his intangibility yet.

Moreover, how the hell is Maw supposed to hurt him any way? He doesn't have any feats to prove he can crush Vibranium.

Because Cap was about to be killed. No other option. Vision has come off almost like the Silver Surfer with his regards for life now. Let's not completely disregard Avengers 2 or WandaVision.

The power to kill is also the power to incapacitate. It's not a binary choice between killing them or talking to them.

Also, Viz killed in AoU, too, and that final nail in Ultron's coffin wasn't in urgent defence of anyone or anything. It was just out of understanding that Ultron couldn't be reasoned with.

Vision vs Ebony Maw:

Vision should take this. The Maw is powerful, but his power ultimately revolved around precise and rapid telekinesis. In terms of raw oomph, he never demonstrated the kind of force to be able to hurt the Vision. And I would not bet on "telekinetically controlled barriers of debris" as being an especially good counter to either gem blasts or "just fly up while intangible and punch".

Or, there is probably a *reason* he was sent on Team Capture Dr Strange, and not Team Gank Vision.
