Marvel Films MCU X-Men - Part 4

A few hundred or so spread throughout the world. SHIELD is aware of their existence. People like Charles, Logan and Magneto are on their radar because of their extreme powers. The mutant boom happens and a tiny population suddenly explodes. Enter Charles and his school.

Basically the leg work is done imo. Just say that some people have a gene like in the case of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and how it's because of that gene is how they got their powers from the Hydra experimenting.

So yeah, mutants exist but there only have been 4 of them so far. (Charles, Magneto, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch)
Pietro and Wanda could be retconned to have been the first mutants we've seen on-screen. Hydra may have known about the hypothesized "X-Gene" and forced a transformation/trigger using an Infinity stone. Charles is/has beem where he was before the events of the first X-Men issue

Travelling the world.

Ditto for Erik who was basically hunting Nazis down.

Wolverine is with Alpha Flight and Mystique and Irene are fostering a young runaway Rogue.

Storm is in Kenya, isolated from the rest of the world.

Moira is on Muir Island etc

The basic guidelines for the mutant phenomenon have been laid out in the MCU and the comics already have a clear explanation for where everybody is/has been all this time. The problem only arises when/if Marvel tries to retcon in the entire 56 year history of the X-Men's lore into the MCU instead of naturally building the world in the first X-Men film.

How will all this translate into an established team of X-Men? Or do you think part of the first film should focus on the recruitment of the team?

Keep in mind that the whole mutant phenomena could be happening in real time within the MCU, before the first X-Men film. So that's when Charles would form the X-Men. In 2019-2020. When I say "established team", I mean established as in "Spider-Man: Homecoming"-established or "Captain Marvel"- established. Heroes who are fresh, recently surfaced and have not had a true challenge yet. People still forging their identities.

I definitely wouldn't have the X-Men existing as an active team for 10 years off-screen unless the focus is not going to be on their development again ala X1

Perfect MCU approach to take

Yeah, I imagine the mutant boom will be something that has been occurring for a few years before the first X-Men film. It can't just be an overnight thing. But more and more people are manifesting powers to the point where it's starting to be noticed as a new and mysterious phenomenon. Charles could give us this exposition at the beginning of the film. Something equivalent to the Jean Grey before Congress scene in the first Fox X-Men film. Only less sinister since it's earlier in the mutant timeline so no Mutant Registration Act yet. Then it could jump ahead a bit to where Charles has established his school and recruited the first few X-Men.

I think whoever our main character is they'll be introduced in their normal every day life. Something will then happen that will thrust them into joining the X-Men.

I can't wait to see students in the school who don't all look like normal humans. They didn't even bother in the Fox films.

Wouldn't surprise me if we get Nick Fury and Maria Hill making a cameo in this film or any other Avenger like Natasha or Hawkeye

I can totally see Fury visit the mansion to talk with Charles and turns out they're mutual acquaintances

I would love it and Fury could tell Charles that he has had his eye on him for a while now

MCU Logan/Wolverine picks to replace Hugh Jackman

Richard Madden
Taron Egerton
Oscar Isaac
Zac Efron
Robert Pattinson
Jon Bernthal

Other picks being Scott Eastwood and Wyatt Russell

Yup. I've been thinking that maybe the X-Men would be existing as a team in real time within the MCU and we could be introduced to them in the form of the original 5 in someone else's movie. And then a year or two later, we get something closer to the Giant-Sized lineup for the first X-Men film. Storm would be in Black Panther and she could get recruited by Charles in a post-credits scene. Rogue could show up in Captain Marvel and then play the role of an antagonist in X-Men before turning against whatever force is manipulating her in the climax.

This could be a great way to honor the original Lee/Kirby run and then jumping into Giant-Sized X-Men.

Maybe in Spider-Man 3 the O5 could show up under supervision from Fury and Charles to help Spidey take down a gianr monster. I imagine them fighting Goom from Planet X

It must irk the Fox X-Men fans that the franchise's most successful property also happens to spit at their pretension of sophistication, and will also be the only one not to be consigned to oblivion after Fox's acquisition by Disney.

Must it irk us? Or do you just get off on the idea of us being irked?

Personally I'm glad Deadpool is continuing and I'm excited to see how the MCU handles the X-men. It's a huge shame we won't see X-23's movie, as that would have made a nice epilogue to the whole thing, but I'm not going to hold that against Deadpool or MCU X-men. That would be a silly thought process to have.

Wouldn't that make Strange a mutant as well as he uses a type of magic that's an offshoot of the older type Wanda uses?

I’m sick of seeing human Beast. I’d love to see a casual mansion scene with Beast Beast, Nightcrawler, iced up Iceman and metalled up Colossus.

I wouldn't be surprised if in this X Men film we do see a newly reconstituted, rebuilt, restructured SHIELD organization but also we see news reports of mutants on national TV so that way it connects the X Men to the MCU...we see the X Men being watched by other heroes or other heroes are referenced by way of Easter egg

So... exactly what you wrote for the FF? What's this thinking that inuniverse news reports about the subject of the film you are already watching and paid a ticket to see equals a connection to the MCU? We will all know these new X-Men films will be produced by Marvel and set in the same place as the Avengers etc. when the ball really gets rolling. Marketing and articles will do the job they are supposed to. Connections in the film will be more likely done by referring to past events in the MCU and possibly a cameo. This is literally just posting to post.

He would definitely want to, although I guess Xavier would want to keep some things under wraps from him.

Yes because well Charles is an advocate for mutant rights and SHIELD is not because they view the world of mutants as a threat

For me SHIELD just isn't the end all be all of the MCU. Them being omnipresent brings its own unneeded complications to stories. They don't have to be shoe horned into literally everything. Some of the best MCU films have had like zero SHIELD presence from CW, IW and BP.

Madden to me is more of a Cyclops, but not a bad choice
Egerton could be good, but he reads a bit young
Hells to the nah on Pattinson, don't want to have to look at his ugly mug for several movies
and Bernthal is Punisher, so that hopefully wouldn't happen

but generally speaking, not too bad of choices
