The less deadpool, the better for me. I've always hated the character. It's fine if they want to continue though and I can simply ignore it as I did the first two movies except watched clips on youtube.

Deadpool is cool, but I don't care much about that character. Whatever they do with the character, with or without Reynolds makes no difference to me.
same with me.

just give me Cyclops, Rogue, Gambit, Storm, Iceman, Kitty and co.

You love Reynolds as Deadpool, and millions of other people do too (myself included). You said yourself you don't want to see Deadpool unless is Ryan in the role. That's your personal preference and there's no arguing with that. But you have to separate your personal preferences from reality. You wanting Reynolds in the role no matter what does not equal Marvel Studios never being able to make the character work. Those two things are radically different things and that's what we're pointing out.

We're talking about comicbook movies. As outstanding an actor is, for me, the character is always bigger. So saying Deadpool can only exists on the big screen if one specific actor is playing him, is like saying Xavier and Eric can only work on the big screen if they're being played by McAvoy and Fassbender (or Stewart and McKellen). Or that Joker could only be played by Ledger.

I'm a fan of the characters, so I'm more excited to see Charles and Eric in the MCU than McAvoy and Fassbender.

Like I said, tastes and personal preferences can't be argued. You like what you like. But I'm sure that, if they want to, MS can make Deadpool work without Reynolds. And that's the point.

And if, for some reason, it comes down to creative differences between Reynolds and Feige, similar to Reynolds and Miller... I have a feeling of which one of them Marvel/Disney would let go.
But Bob Iger himself seems to want Reynolds. Ryan himself has posted MCU Deadpool related posts many times. Just recently he indicated that he had a meeting with Marvel Studios and judging by his reaction, all went well.

Of course if it came down to Reynolds and Feige, Ryan is getting the boot. But i don't see why it has to come down to that? The fact of the matter is, Deadpool is a huge success and Ryan Reynolds has become synonymous with the role in the same way as Robert Downey Jr and Hugh Jackman before him.

I see Ryan continuing in this role and Disney continuing with the version of Deadpool whose movies have made a combined 1.4 billion at the box-office because they have no reasom not to.

I don't understand the bitterness so many X-Men fans have accumulated towards these Deadpool movies. I don't understand the issue? It's not Ryan's fault that people embrace his Deadpool while the X-Men movies stayed in 2004 and failed to catch up with modern audience.

Deadpool aesthetically also feels perfectly into the MCU. The only question that arises is how/where Deadpool will fit into the MCU

I'm not bitter about Fox's Deadpool. I just prefer everyone gets a clean slate when they are introduced in the mcu movies. Hulk, Spider-Man and soon the Fantastic Four and the mutants are going to be rebooted in the mcu movies, and no one from those FoX movies would comeback in their respective foxmovie role. Deadpool shouldn't be an eXception.

I don't hate the character. But I would be relieved if Fox's Deadpool doesn't enter the mcu.

Who would you even recast as Deadpool?

I woulda said Zachary Levi but that ship has sailed.
I'd hate to lose Reynolds in the part, but if I had to choose someone, probably Robert Sheehan

So I was thinking about the human element and figures like Sen Robert Kelly, Henry P. Gyrich, Bolivar Trask, maybe introduce Stephen Lang and Craydon Creed should be constant thorns when it comes to Xavier’s believe in coexistence between mutants and humans. None of these guys should be 1 and done characters or killed off (like in X1). I would like to see a character arc for a few of them going from hating mutants to supporting them.

And that's is great. But if it comes down to any creative difference, similar to the one with Miller, Ryan would get the boot, which you seem to agree. That's why we're saying he'll have to learn how to play along now.

I'm not even bringing up the X-Men movies in this topic, let alone comparing them with Deadpool. So I am the one lost here.

But still, I think Reynolds is replaceble, like Jackman is, Stewart, McAvoy, Fassbender, McKellen, Joaquin Phoenix, Downey Jr, Christian Bale, Christopher Reeve, Ledger, Maguire, Garfield, etc... It's a matter of how, when and where.

Been thinking the same thing. I don't want them to be caricatures and they should all be constant presences. Kelly in particular should be able to have a fully-rounded character arc where he starts the trilogy hating mutants for what he truly believes is for good reason and then ending the trilogy willing to sacrifice his life for a mutant child about to be slain by a Sentinel...

Trask I could see coming to a similar realization about the horrors of what he has done. But in his case, he can do nothing about it. Because the Government controls the manufacturing and distribution of Sentinels. I could see Trask becoming a Robert Oppenheimer-esque figure. Realizing that he has created weapons of mass destruction that could eventually be the end of us all. He joins a mutant support group

As for Gyrich, I imagine he could be killed by a mutant at some point and Creed representing the extreme mutant hatred (Church of humanity basically being the KKK) could slowly become more hateful and angry. The opposite of Kelly and Trask.

Cameron Hodge is another character I'd love to see and he'd be a good metaphor for troubled young men today being radicalized by hateful rhetoric and social isolation. He could be the X-Men universe's equivalent to someone like Richard Spencer. His arc could be that of someone slowly losing their grip on reality as he descends into blind hatred for mutants and becomes more insane and unhinged over time.

John Sublime (Pre-retcon nonsense) would be someone trying to profit off of mutant culture - sanitizing and repackaging their culture to humans who sensationalize and glamorize them because "it's cool" in some ways. Yet they don't want any of the struggle that comes with being one. For some of them, being a mutant is like putting on a costume for a day or two-- once they get bored, they can slip out of the robes and wings and disappear back into society. A mutant doesn't have that privilege. Another good social analogy for contemporary minority problems.

Yeah we talked about this. It would be great to have these guys as persistent characters and introduced early.

You could also go into the argument where some of them look more normal than others and can basically blend into society where others basically look weirder and how the two sometimes clash or are viewed as sell outs.

Idec what they do with Deadpool as long as he isn't tied in with the X-MEN. Have him interact with the Marvel guys like Spiderman or something

I hope they don't pull another Negasonic and Yukio, those Deadpool movies might be better than Apocalypse and Dark PhoeniX.... but since when Negasonic and Yukio became integral to the X-Men? They could have featured the actual X-Men or X-students that appeared in a lot of comic books to appear with Colossus. And they drastically changed Negasonic and Yukio was turned into a mutant for the 2nd time... as if The Wolverine didn't already do that which was fine in the first time.but for a 2nd time and they retconned the first Yukio as if Yukio was just an eXtra in The Wolverine.... geez. I wonder if the writers of those movies were picking out names out of a hat. And oh X-Force was turned into a gag as well. Domino didn't look like Domino and they've wasted Black Tom Cassidy.

I was thinking earlier that maybe the should a series on Disney+ before a movie. The reason why I suggested this is that the team is so huge that we don’t want to end up with characters getting shafted. So if they were to do six episodes with s1 focused on the origins of Charles and Eric, episode 1 would be Charles story, followed by Eric’s in episode 3 they cross paths, with the remaining episodes you see the rise and fall of there friendship, their ideals on mutant relations. Characters you can introduce/Easter eggs is Gabrielle (Charles wife), Nathan Essex, Lorna’s mom (I forget her name) and Moira. Also we see how Xavier becomes paralyzed (which we explore in the s2)

In s2 it would be a heroes and villains season. We get to see Charles, Moira & Forge (under the tutelage of Moira) establish the institute and Charles (in flashbacks) recruiting a young Scott, Jean, Storm and Hank (pre blue). These episodes would explore their origins. On the flip side we see Eric or a “woman” going out and looking for recruits (Pyro, Avalanche, Blob) now this woman would take a different form in each episode and in the finale it’s revealed to be Mystique (think XME s1). In the last episodes we see both teams suited up thus leading into the first movie. During this season we could be introduced to the rising mutant problem.

Now I think ultimate X-Men volume 1 would be a great first film. You can have Jean recruiting Colossus, Angel, Introduce a 14 year old Iceman. In this film we see the Brotherhood’s terrorists ways, (since the end of s2) introducing Sentinels, Sen. Kelly, Bolivar Trask, Henry P, Gryrich. At the end of the film the world thinks Magneto is dead and members of the brotherhood arrested w/Mystique escaping.

Lately, I've been forcing myself to keep my expectations as low as possible. We know the X-Men is huge, and they will be an important part of the MCU sooner or later. But the mutant universe is huge, and the MCU is too big for them now.

Feige will continue to explore the cosmic universe, invest in less known properties and more ensembles like Young Avengers, New Avengers, Dark Avengers, A-Force, Guardians, Eternals, X-Men and FF. The MCU will be massively populated soon. So while I see them certainly investing in mutants, I don't think it will be as much as fans of that mutant universe will want to.

Eternals will have a very big cast. It should give us a taste of how Marvel can handle a big ensemble of non solo heroes. But I do see at least a few X-Men members getting a Hawkeye treatment. It's inevitable, IMO.

I definitely see marvel using disney plus to extend its reach on xmen characters and teams.

Disney+ will provide a great place to expand and explore the MCU, which is something we didn't get before.

yeah, because more hours of Charles and Magneto is exactly what the property needs.
its not like we got enough material in 20 years.

I Iwould be happy if the Wolverine gets a mini series instead of another film trilogy. I ain't got time to anticipate another Wolverine trilogy.

I see Logan getting a trilogy before New Mutants, X-Force or X-Factor. And unless the actor decides to leave, it's likely that Wolverine will get a fouth film and beyond, like Thor.

Magneto and the Brotherhood were the villains in X-Men 1 and X-Men The Last stand. Heck in X2 Magneto takes over Stryker's plan and tries to wipe out humanity. In First Class Shaw and the Hellfire Club were mutant terrorists and Magneto forms the Brotherhood. In Days of Future Past, Magneto manages to take over the role of Big Bad by the end of the film.

So Fox used that angle a lot, what would be different if they used mutant terrorists as the villains again? And if it is someone not used yet, who are they and how would they not just be a pale imitation of Magneto and the Brotherhood?

Well the movies don't need to and probably shouldn't try to top the previous Brotherhood, at least in the first film (again the Juggernaut would be an OK adversary if the filmmakers wanted to really focus more on the team), and the films going to be 20 years old or even with FC 10 years old probably means it's OK to have some similarities without it feeling like a retread.
Regardless, in the previous films Sabretooth, Pyro, Mastermind, Emma Frost were pretty wasted (well Pyro OK, Mastermind good but extremely different from the comics), they could be done better both in terms of writing and special effects.

Although I don't think the X-Men should start as a Disney+ series, there could be huge potential in what they could do through that platform after the first film. Given the ensemble nature of the team and maybe not everyone getting the biggest chance to shine, they could do a series that focused on one character an episode. Whether it be an "Origin" story, take place after the first movie, or flash from one to the other. The character would get an hour all about themselves.

Maybe dump Deadpool as well in D+ Xpecially if Ryan Reynolds is returning for the role.

Why do I feel like Wolverine is going to go to Milo Gibson? Just a hunch
Wouldn't surprise me at all. Out of all the suggestions I've seen, dude just ticks all the boxes. How funny would it be that he's cast when Mel was offered the role for X1.
