Well, and, IMO, I think it's immature (at the very least) to say "just go be fan of something else" when you don't get to tell anyone what they can and cannot be fans of.
Tony's alcoholism wasn't essential in his MCU version. Ant-Man and Wasp being founding members of the Avengers wasn't essential in this MCU version. MJ is nowhere to be found. Well, she is and she's now Michelle. Peter also probably will never work for JJJ now. I'm not a big fan of the Avengers comics, but I'm quite sure the list of characters, relationships and elements left behind are quite huge.
Marvel won't have all the time in the world to develop every relationship. Especially considering how
crazy things can get with the X-Men. I asked about Emma because I was thinking about Jean, and wondering how long will Marvel keep her or if they're going to kill her off or not. And if they keep her, is it essential to make Emma and Scott a couple if Emma joins the X-Men?
Kitty's relationship with Piotr has been a big part in the comics, but so her relationship with Rachel. But the later has been only in "subtext" for obvious reasons. Why not change things this time, since we're not in the 80s anymore? We're still talking about adapting a relationship that exists in the comics.
