Can somebody rip my eyes off, please? Thank you.

"Man... I wish there wasn't all this politics and allusions to real world bigotry in this franchise that for five decades plus has been a metaphor for society grappling with diversity and bigotry."

:o

It really is like some have this selective lack of comprehension.

What is worse is... I am pretty sure at this time that said selective nature is willful. They don't get it because they don't want to get it.

Look, if you don't agree with the idea, that's fine, but don't go around accusing people of serious things just because you don't agree with an idea.

Having Russo's character be the boyfriend was only supposed to be a call back to endgame, nothing more. I've already said I didn't realise that Russo was as old as he was in endgame. The MCU is already in 2023, it's easily possible if they released a movie in 2025 that it could match up with the year in the MCU which is set only 2 years after Endgame. I'm not saying Russo's character must be Iceman's boyfriend, I said he could be and that was before I knew how old Russo actually was.

I understand that it may not be your intention to be homophobic, and Im sorry if my post came off as a bit harsh. However, whether intended or not, simple fact is that it is homophobic. You’re reinforcing a common stereotype that “all gay men must know each other and must be romantically linked”. Im not trying to throw blame, just trying to educate. All im asking is for you to stop and have a think about why your suggestion might be problematic.

You and I seem to have very different definitions of homophobia.

I swear they are giving my Scott and Jean vibes while watching Bridgerton

I had to do a double take whilst watching because Regee-Jean Page deadass looks like my brother :funny:

But I could totally get behind those two as Scott-Jean.

Yup. At this point, with everything that's come to light n the last 4 years, with all the educational resources available, there is absolutely zero excuse to remain to ignorant on these topics. Ignorance is willful.

X-Men should be a person's jumping on point if anything

I know you guys have moved on from this conversation but I'd like to point something out: just as there are levels and layers to racism (e.g. it encapsulates wayyy more than just the Klan), there are layers to homophobia as well. Certain ideas/beliefs are a direct extension of harmful notions that have been used to marginalize gay men for centuries

I had previously pitched Justice Smith as Iceman, but what about him as Cyclops?
And, maybe uninspired, but Elle Fanning as Marvel Girl.

EDIT: I might have pitched this before? lol Idk, but it'd work for me

Slim.

I've seen him being pitched before a few times here. I was one of them. :p

It seems like an obvious pick almost lol. Marvel should be signing him up regardless

I've only seen Justice Smith in one movie and that was Jurassic World and his acting (not to mention the acting of the other girl he was with) was absolutely horrendous.

You should see Justice Smith in 'The Get Down'

He's amazing in this show. Shame it cancelled after one season

Thank you. This was the point I was trying to get across but I’ve learned that people dont like to be told when they’re ideas/opinions are harmful and are therefore unwilling to listen to someone else's point of view.

I already posted this to the casting thread at "X-Men Sequels". But since it's pretty quiet over there, I think I'll put it here as well:

Couple of lesser known actors who I think might make good villains:

Mystique - Krista Kosonen (Dogs Don't Wear Pants, Beforeigners)

Destiny - Lindsay Duncan (Rome, Sherlock, A Discovery of Witches)

Shadow King - Igal Naor (The Honourable Woman, Green Zone)[/Qu

I especially think Igal Naor would be a good pick. His look is perfect for the part. And while I only know him from The Honourable Woman, he was great in it. He appears to have a really commanding screen presence.

I hate to be that guy. But by the time Marvel introduces Mutants. Most of the actors will likely be older than what Marvel is aiming for to play the character.

Yeah, that's definitely an issue when doing fancasting. I think my three villains still have some time, though. Mystique will be covered with make-up and the two others can (and in Destiny's case should) be played by older actors. But in terms of main cast, we might end up seeing someone like Sophia Lillis as Jean Grey if they want a team of heroes in their twenties.

Blink and the Exiles, maybe, with the world-hopping. It's similar territory to Doctor Strange, but they could do different things with it, maybe make the MCU equivalent of Sliders.

So WandaVision is getting a lot of praise.

I keep thinking which X-Men characters could provide an unique/different experience like that. Dazzler?

dazzler would be amazing and why not? Let Disney flex those Broadway connections and really give us something new. I mean, the golden age of musicals happened right after all the turmoil of the early 20th century so I could see them coming back in a big way

"Dazzler the Musical" sounds like a great idea for a Marvel TV-show. I'd love to see what someone like Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) could do with a concept like that.

Id bet money that at some point in the future we'll get a Dazzler project, either a disney plus miniseries or an actual movie. I guess it depends on Feige's ambition with her.

Yup. I suggested Amybeth McNulty (currently 19) as Jean, and Diamond White (currently 21) as 'Roro for this reason.

I think Mojoworld could make for a very surreal, almost dreamlike show that is wholly unique. I'd love to see Misha Green (Lovecraft Country) behind the project

Dazzler feels very at home in the Disney catalogue, and she can even appear in 'Mojoworld'.

I think I'd rather see a Dazzler musical movie than a show. But I'm fine with the second option too.

Exiles would be absolutely incredible if they could really explore other versions of major mcu events and characters, especially if they could get all the same actors back. Imagine Chris Evans back as the evil version of Captain America for a season villain or something like that.

I don't know how achievable it is as a project, though. Could they get all the actors they want back? Evans retired already, Downey will eventually age out and would an Exiles show have the budget for him, anyway? And those kind of issues will get bigger the longer the MCU lasts, whereas if Exiles actually wants to maintain its inherent links to the X-Men stuff instead of being MCU in general, it would actually need to wait a while and give the x-stuff time to be built up.

Also, if Feige really thought a project like this could work I kind of doubt he'd've already greenlit the animated What If? series which covers so much of the same basic concept.

Thats like saying Feige wouldnt do a Black Widow movie (a female movie) because he already made Captain Marvel, a female movie.

Different characters, different plots and subplots. The mutants havent debuted yet, so once they do, in 3-4 years, Feige will start thinking about other potential shows/movies, not now, when the actual x-men havent even appeared yet. He wont stop doing other projects just because the x-men have one tittle/team that have potential.

Yeah, she offers a unique opportunity and it will be a a waste if they don’t do something with her.
