So the franchise is dead, right?
I always wonder how tough it must be for stars like Hemsworth to keep an optimistic attitude when the movie crashes and bombs like this? I know the salary makes it worth it, but still has to hurt the ego. And he's a had a few like these, and even said in an interview that he needs to pick better movies.
Thats unfortunate.
He could make better choices sometimes, but the movies don't really fail because of him, they're just not good movies.

Not necessarily. I thought it was dead after MIB3, and yet they still brought it up. Hollywood studios will always try to revive and keep bringing back once successful brands in the name of hopefully reviving them.
I mean look at Ghostbusters. They are rebooting it yet again.
Honestly, I think that crazy MiB/Ghostbusters crossover idea now has more of a chance of happening than it did before, because they don’t have much else to lose with either brand, lol.Not necessarily. So, is this new Ghostbusters the version they was going to make with Channing Tat-Yum and Chris Fatt?Ghostbusters isn't technically getting rebooted, this next one is a direct continuation of Ghostbusters 2 but 25-30 years later ignoring the 2016 version altogether based on what I've read. I'm thinking it will end up being more like the latest Halloween which was more of a sequel than a reboot.
In my opinion, Hemsworth never should have taken MiB:I or Ghostbusters, because for me they both had/have very low chances of success as being welcomed with open arms by the established fanbase of both franchises. I don't think anyone wanted a rebooted Ghostbusters with no connection to the original(s) & it's the same here, I don't think there was a huge outcry for a MiB film that didn't feature Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones or even Josh Brolin & those established characters.

Reboot is a broad term. It's technically still a reboot.
I've no idea. About 8-10 years ago I'd read somewhere that the general premise for a Ghostbusters 3 would be the original Ghostbusters grooming the next generation, one of which would be Dana Barrett's son from Ghostbusters 2, Oscar.
I never read anything about a cast of the newer lineup, but at least on paper I thought the general concept sounded good as it would satisfy the likes of myself as the original cast would return, but also would bleed in a dozen new characters.
I believe it was Harold Ramis becoming ill & eventually passing away was the cause of that idea being shelved, which then eventually became the 2016 film.
We'll agree to disagree then, I've had this sort of discussion at length in the DCEU threads regarding that situation moving forward & what would constitute a reboot. As far as I'm concerned if there are a dozen or so returning cast members, particularly leads, it's not a reboot, you might get away with a couple of supporting cast members reprising roles.
Reboot. They just kept her on as a pre-established M.Casino Royale featured Judi Dench returning as M. Was it a reboot or a continuation of Die Another Day?
Well Toy Story sounds like it's much better than decent. I won't be holding my breath for Child's Play.Well hopefully this friday fares better with Toy Story ad Child's Play both of which I pray are decent.
