That Sentinel looks like an overgrown Slinky.

Everyone keeps bringing up Singer's version of the Sentinels...

Are there any pics or sketches of Singer's vision floating around the net that someone can point me to?

Thanks in advance :)

I still say the transformation part looks cool.

Thanks Specter

EDIT: and sorry for not looking more thoroughly in the thread folks - thank you all for digging up pics.

The transformation looks like what those droids did in Star Wars.

I agree (albeit more yo-yo-like) - maybe that's part of why the idea got scrapped

I disagree about the transformation. I think it belongs in Transformers and not X-men. The basic concept for the Sentinel is interesting but I'm not too keen on seeing that in the movie. I hope the body of the Sentinel is more traditional or more like the videogame.

I want these.

Love those Sentinels! Hopefully the real Sentinels will look more like those if they're in the final battle!

compared to the other concepts...this one seems kind of dull. Nothing really spectacular about it, doesnt even look that animated. I dont know, I'll still see it. :D

It's the eyes I don't like. I liked the sucken in, tiny red dot eyes. There's something very '80s about the design of the Sentinel in the danger room scene.

It is a training robot...how elaborate do y'all want Xavier to make it just to have the X-Men destroy it?

Wait, I've been wondering, where are the X-Men in that scene?^

The camera is from their point of view... the Sentinel head lands directly in front of them.

Why are the bright beams of light coloured blue-white when the Sentinel's eyes are red?

most concept art is always better then the real thing... because a pencil and pen is much easier to creat things and make it look cool... thats why most comic things look great, but would look horrible in real life

You're not looking forward to the Transformers movie, are you? :)
As much as I liked the transformers as a kid.... No, I'm not :(

... Hopefully, the kiddies will be able to enjoy it though.

I don't think that most people are going to view the Sentinels in terms of A.I. I think they'll just look at them as 60ft robots that hunt mutants, and that I believe is the basis of the argument of being unrealistic. Though if you consider everything else then it's in good company. They may have injected realism but there is next to nothing that is realistic.
Sorry, I must've read incorrectly. I was just pointing out the hurdle that a writer may have to overcome in getting the audience to suspend disbelief, even though there a a lot of sci-fi aspects already presented in the movie. But especially with something that is already grounded in reality. Either way it can be difficult.

Keep in mind also, that MOST of the Sci-fi aspects of these films have been on the part of the mutants, not the humans. If they are going to bring the humans into the picture with 'super' Sci-fi, they need to at least give some explanation about it to help the viewer in believing in the story.
(Eg.. Striker steeling the cerebro technology, using a mutant to run his dark cerebro)

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe those aren't his eyes, but the lights on his chest. Or maybe they will add the tinted light during the post production.

There si something I don't understand with that crappy sentinel head , fisrt she don't look likes the sentinel games a big negative point. Look likes a transformer head , pitty...:o

And silver colour is bad , very bad....

And in the movie we see her point of view , so she seems very talls , but after that we see that the heads is ridiculous , too little..:(

Last questions , this her eyes who fire laser so , her eyes is red , why there is white light ? This not provide by the head but by the torso ?

Hope we see in the movie a real sentinel , not only just a head or a hand behind the fog...It's too cheap for a blockbuster movie , isn't ?

No thanks, those are a little too over the top. I'd prefer a better mix of the earlier transformation design with the comic originals. Have them fold up into a compact mode so they can be transported VIA helicopter, then dropped into action, where they'd transfrom into a biped mode.

I don’t understand why people think the video game designs serve as templates for the movie? I never expected the sentinels in the movie to look like that. As for their design, the head of Singer’s sentinel is much more faithful to the comics (and the cartoon for those who seem to only watch that) . . .

The video game design is goofy and over-the-top—it looks like a member of the Phalanx, not a sentinel. I think one of the best renditions of the sentinel (stature-wise) is the one featured in the bottom right, corner in Singer’s concept panel design. It’s walking looks awesome, like something straight out of the comics.

In so far as the actual movie sentinel . . . I'll wait until I see the whole thing.
